Had the call been earlier we probably would have changed hotels but it was a little late to find a place at that point. I was assuted someone would help with luggage. So we agreed to climb to the third floor. There was no one to assist with luggage When I entered the room I went to adjust the thermostat on the air conditioning system and the cover for the controls fell off in my hand. It was broken. Then I went into the bathroom and found there was no toilet paper holder. It had been pulled from the wall and removed from the room. When I advised the desk clerk that the holder was missing she said she would note it for maintenance. I think maintenance already knew or would have still been in the room. The bed must have been in that room for 15 years to have depressions as deep as it does. Likewise the pillows are little balls of something that are not very comfortable. There are no longer any amenities in the room such as makeup mirrors. We ask for at the front desk for a mirror but there were not available. It's as if the rooms have been stripped of all the things that used to be there for the convenience of the traveler. Primarily because of the elevator when we checked in we asked it was possible to get a discount on the room. We were advised that it would be difficult since we had paid in advance but that she would check with the manager. When I called about the toilet paper holder being missing again requested a discount because of the condition of the room and the elevator I got the same sndwer. At this point I've heard from no one about anything. None of these things would have been true in any of the Hampton inns I've stayed in before. It was very disappointing and my last day in a Hampton Inn.

To make matters worse, I needed to clear my minimum of 8 hours rest before I am legal drive back to San Antonio the next day for an additional 10 hour drive. So I get to my room, and there are about a dozen kids running around both upstairs and downstairs. I call the front desk and nobody answers. So I head to the front desk, and there are three FU@&!# people sitting there. I explained to them that I just drove 10 hours and I have to turn around and drive another 10 hours back. I stated to the trailer park man that goes by the name of TRACY (FAT White hair buzz cut) that if he doesn't do something about these kids running around that I will call the police. His response was that "running down the hall was not against the law." I replied that it's disturbing MY PEACE. He responds with a "why dont you just leave then." Are you kidding me??? This is what you have as your customer service front desk representative. Not the response you would expect from the front desk. My response to him was either you take care of it or I'm calling the police. Apparently, that worked so far. But I will NEVER stay here again and will definitely contact corporate to report this issue and staff.

I was lucky that receptionist NICOLAS was on duty; he checked me into the last room available, though I would happily have given it up to an immigrant family on the run [These are terrifying times under TREASONOUS/"divider-in-chief"/(USA)Constitution-trampling DJT]. Anyway, it was a much-needed stop, and certainly met my requirements: TV-remote/mini fridge/microwave excellent bed-mattress/ice. In fact, I lived a bit better this night because I was able to buy a few provisions at the fabulous Saucedo Market just before they closed. I really like this community; several years ago, while biketouring through, I was able to make critical bike repairs on my beloved Doublevision with parts from the Second Chance Lumber shop! I had to pay $15 per dog that wasn't certified and that was because when I said it was going to be too expensive to stay here with the dogs when Hampton in. Never charges me for our dogs- just 2 per room is the rule. So because of the pet fee- we wont Stay here again. We travel from Ca to Texas every 8-12 weeks. The young gentleman at the front desk was friendly and extremely helpful. His boss happened to walk in while he was assisting in my check-in and was also friendly and helpful. Room wise, the mattress was a bit lumpy, but I slept just fine. Al in all this is not a bad spot to get some rest and recharge if you are just passing through. Overall, I give it 4 stars.

People fighting outside and screaming at their kids using very foul language and management doing nothing about it. Restrooms are clean to a certain degree. There is free wifi and information center seems to be closed at this time. A reminder, be prepared to not have access to get back onto the interstate.
