Very disappointing experience. When working with a tax resolution company you expect clear communication, realistic advice, and actual progress. Instead, this firm is disorganized, updates were hard to get, and I often felt like I was ignored. Tax problems are stressful enough without having to wonder what your own firm is doing. Went through a rough divorce. Went to Moskowitz for help on my filings. 2019 +- Paid just about $20,000 for help. I asked about rates and fees. He replies "Oh we don't work that way"... Its $12,000 (to file (4) 1040EZ...) His people are polite and professional. But nothing gets done. EVER. I thought it was pandemic related, but it wasn't... I believe I had 4-5 different representatives reach out for a new POA. They all kept leaving. HUGE RIPE OFF. High PRESSURE SALES. If you dont agree with the $figure he throws at you then he will make you feel so uncomfortable and get rude. I will never recommand him to my community or friends. We have been waiting 3 years!!! Just to get fees removed or reduced on back taxes that were owed because of circumstances that were not in our control. Our house burned down along with all our taxes. My spouse died of cancer then I got cancer then two years later my new partner passed away in a motorcycle accident then I had a motorcycle crash! It was 4 very hard years trying to run my business! This firm took $5000 from me and never did a single thing in 3 years! In fact we now owe more money than when we started as the fees have been accruing interest in those 3 years!!! We have been fobbed off to 4 different people in those 3 years and each time we had to start all over again explaining to each new person what was going on! Then we were asked to supply some paperwork showing the hardships I've had. We sent the requested documents which did not get sent to the IRS but mailed back to me!!! I had to send them to the IRS myself in registered mail to make sure they actually received them. I have called and left VM several times and emails and get no response until I ask for a refund! Disappointing experience and lack of follow‑through I'm sharing this to help others make an informed decision. In my case, the firm's high employee turnover had a direct impact on the quality of service. I hired them specifically to avoid tax issues and missed deadlines, yet because staff left or didn't follow through, key deadlines were missed and fees were assessed--exactly what I was trying to prevent. The engagement started with a single conversation with an attorney. After payment, I was handed off to multiple account managers, none of whom were able to move the matter forward. Communication dropped off, and despite being an active customer, I haven't received outreach on my unresolved issues for months. In hindsight, the money I paid this firm would have been better spent directly on the taxes I was trying to resolve. What a complete waste of time. Filled out a questionnaire that they provided prior to our call and all his questions were based off the questionnaire. Obviously didn't take the time to review it. I guess "lawyers" are not required to provide any type of customer service considering Steve was condescending, arrogant and flat out rude with his questions and responses. The clown obviously thinks he's above the average citizen asking for a little help. Said it would cost $750 per year for returns and asked if that sounded reasonable. Well YOU asked so I questioned if that was negligible and his response was yes $1000 a year. What a joke. I engaged with Moskowitz in 2024, after the IRS claimed I owed additional taxes for 2023 and 2022, and also tried to levy a penalty for an accidental double payment in 2023. The attorney side of the house successfully lobbied for removal of all penalties, and the CPA side redid the taxes for those years, leading to a refund (rather than the payments the IRS was demanding). Best $15K I've ever spent. Both the lawyers and the accountants were responsive over email and calls, and it was easy to exchange documents through their portal. In my 50+ years of business experience (20+ as a business owner), this is one of the most shady outfits I've dealt with. I really can't believe they can sustain a business like this. Steve claims to know everything, but doesn't anymore. Think Joe Biden in his last term. He is the sales guy that takes your money up front, promises you everything, and then hands it off to incompetent EAs or admin people to do your returns. They only have one or two CPAs there and the rest are entry-level admin people. And if they screw up on your return and you need to have it amended by a more qualified CPA firm, they will not refund you. read more

On my initial call Steve was quick to ask for a credit card for full payment. After that, things moved slowly. I engaged Moskowitz in July of 2023 for a proforma report. Although I was repeatedly promised the report over the next few months, it wasn't until I requested a refund in January of 2024 that I finally received the report. Most of the staff I interacted with were professional and nice. For the most part, they just didn't follow-up. It was an expensive and frustrating experience. I used a different firm to prepare my taxes. They were able to generate the aforementioned proforma report AND compete my taxes at a fraction of the cost and time. read more

Steve Moskowitz is perpetually advertising on the radio. Now I know how he affords it. He charged my wife 10K up front to negotiate a payment plan with the IRS for back taxes. He did literally nothing, without her constantly calling him back, I am not sure he ever would have. Finally, he announced he had arranged a payment plan that would provide no relief at all from the original bill. It was basically the same deal you can get from the IRS by just going in and negotiating on your own behalf. But I am sure her 10K bought a lot of air time. Folks, this guy is a snake oil salesman. I paid the full $15K up front a month ago to track down the ERC that we have not yet received. They sent one form to sign and now I cannot get any information from them! One time fee only sounds great to get your ERC but I think the federal government will be faster than having them track it down for me. Would not use them again EXTREMELY disappointed. read more

My partner was hit with a very large tax bill that then ballooned to WAY more money after over a year of ignoring the IRS's frequent letters. Of course, one should know never to mess with the IRS so we were desperate to get this issue resolved as soon as possible. We reached out to the Moskowitz firm back in the middle of 2020. They warned us that the IRS had a huge backlog of requests for settlement so it may take a year or more to get the issue resolved. Like others have mentioned here, we had to pay up-front, but, aside from taking care of our issue with one tax year, we also had the firm take care of our taxes for the past five years, in order to ensure there was consistency with how the taxes were filed. Through this process, their accounts found that my partner had forgotten to file for one year, which resulted in more money being owed to the IRS. I will say that there was a huge waiting game sometimes with the IRS, but the Moskowitz team that we worked with would always respond to our inquiries in about 1-3 business days. They were patient with our questions and we were pleasantly surprised when the settlement came in at a lower amount than we initially quoted. Moskowitz saved us about 61% reduction in everything owed to the IRS (which includes what we paid Moskowitz + settlement to IRS). Definitely worth it from our perspective - thank you!! read more

Hired them a year ago because IRS was unresponsive to our payment arrangements proposal and IRS sent us multiple misleading letters . No action it's now another 6 months I call call and call leave messages nothing . Send email to my agent says she's no longer with the company. I was not impressed with the HIGH PRESSURE sales pitch and scare tactics that Moskowitz presented to us for issues related to taxes. It was also enlightening why this firm wanted several $1000's up front to begin my case which is contrary what other attorneys informed me. Definitely keep looking. This is not the help you want, trust me. Called him about a tax situation and he quickly shouted out "$10,000!". I said I don't have that kind of money and said maybe I could file my own offer in compromise. He said I was a fool and I'd be like a fish being fed to a seal by the IRS. I actually did file the "offer in compromise" (wasn't as hard as you'd think), and it was accepted and completed and my tax issues are over. Moskowitz LLP did it again. If you look at my previous reviews, you'll see what I have been going through on and off with the IRS and FTB for the last few years. Lost the house and everything (including all tax documents) we own, in the Tubbs fire of 2017. Sold an office two days before the fire and had two 1031 exchanges in 2018. Also sold a decrepit piece of real estate for a loss in 2019, that I couldn't keep up with, while dealing with fire rebuild trauma. Because one tax year required information from the prior tax year, I got behind very quickly. Everything began to snowball. Started getting letters from the FTB and the IRS. Couldn't even bring myself to open the envelopes after a while. Too much anxiety. You know the feeling. As soon as I hired Steve and his team, it was just like old times. First thing he said was, "Don't even open the envelopes if you don't want to. Send them directly to my team." I opened one envelope from the IRS that suggested I owed them in excess of $300,000. Another letter added penalties and interest and before I knew it, the dollar mountain was well over $600,000! Six years after the fire, we finally moved into our rebuilt the house and I thought of how I would break it to my wife, that we would be selling the house to pay off back taxes and penalties. Not only did the IRS want an enormous amount of money, there was a distinct possibility I would have to go to court. Can you go to jail for ADHD, procrastination and PTSD? But, today I got a phone call from one of the attorneys on Steve Moskowitz team, Paul Vargas. I almost broke down when he told me that they were able to get all of my back taxes, interest and penalties forgiven. Truly the team at Moscowitz LLP are the "IRS whisperers". The thing that continually amazes me about this firm, is their follow up. When you call them with a question, you get a human being on the phone and it's a human being who cares and understands your case. You will get tremendous follow up, legal, expertise, and most importantly, EMPATHY! A lot of you have heard Steve Moskowitz commercials on TV and radio. I just realized I hadn't posted this from a little while ago. I made an appointment with this clown show after hearing convincing commercials on the radio. I did a little checking on the firm also, but not enough. I was looking for someone to review a few tax returns and, most importantly, draw up a trust to protect my partner. I met Steve at his office on some nosebleed floor. After explaning what I was looking to accomplish in regards to my partner now, and after we got married, I was told,  "Don't  marry her". This clown just met me and has never met my partner and only has 5 minutes of information about me and this is what I get. Oh, and the reason, the reason was because its going to cause 'problems down the road'. What problems???? No explanation. My partner is already the beneficiary on everything. He seriously doesn't listen to anything you have to say. After a few minutes of details, he had already made up his mind about how this was going to play out. Excuse me, Mr. MAN, just because your relationships end up as dumpster fires has no relevance as to what happens in my relationship. So all of this expertise on reviewing some taxes and writing up a trust was going to cost me $10,000.00. And this was from a person who had no interest in exploring options in writing up a document to keep things separate between my partner and kids to protect my partner now and in the future. The dude just didn't give a f#ck. The final point where I left was when he wasn't sure if he could work with me if I intended on marrying my partner. That was it. What a misogynistic incel. I got up and left. I seriously dodged a huge bullet here, especially after reading other reviews. I am so sorry I paid 500 bucks for this "impartial" professional consultation. I could have gone to a bar and drank all night and get better advice. Look elsewhere people. read more
