I am surprised to see the high 4.5 star rating for AMC because my experience was subpar. Joe and…read moreSarah are very nice people and have good intentions but it took over 65 days to get my conventional loan approval with an in-house underwriter at that. Furthermore, there was no sense of urgency and indifference. I brought this to the attention of the staff and the owner, Lawrence but to no avail. Also, every request and verification from AMC was last minute and in piecemeal which was inefficient and cause of the delay. For example, I closed escrow four days ago and it has been radio silence from them. No notice of escrow closing, no congratulatory email, no communication at all. If you have the patience and don't want the personal touch regarding one of your most important purchases and life event then use AMC otherwise....

This is going to be a long one, but worth the read if you're considering working with this…read morecompany!!! I started my relationship with Alameda mortgage almost a year ago now. I completed the entire application, provided all my documentation with one person, and then never heard back from him. It was a discouraging first step in an already daunting process. I was referred to someone else who seemed friendly and knowledgeable. I found my house, made an offer and got it accepted relatively quickly. I was so excited. I missed the first call from Alameda, but tried to call back for 4 straight days before I finally got a call back. By then interest rates, which were already high, had gone up to an all time high of 7%. I was advised to lock that in as they would likely increase. A day or so later they dropped. I was locked in and there was nothing I could do. It always felt like we were several steps behind on the lending process. They would tell me one thing and it would be another. Their app was faulty and I would get a notice to complete something, but it wouldn't open. Communication was sparse and when inevitably something did not go as it should, it was somehow always my fault and they were supposedly waiting on me. They had miscalculated my income early, and also were missing documentation that honestly they as the professionals should have caught earlier. My closing date was changed multiple times. At one point they told me I could buy my rate down, only to tell me 2 days later that it wasn't actually possible. Some of these things I'm sure can't be controlled, but the fact that it was constant, and the communication was bad, made the process so maddening. And they only apologized when the error was so glaring it couldn't be excused. I was blessed with a great seller who paid my closing costs. While we were negotiating that, one of the ladies from alameda accidentally forwarded my appraisal that said "great news the house is valued over the selling price!" That could have completely derailed the things I was asking for but luckily didn't. I was so happy when things were over, and felt so grateful for the seller's generosity, that I decided to pay it forward and not to leave the scathing review I had planned. Unbelievably, these people called me a few months later telling me that they had messed up during the underwriting process and they needed me to bring in a check for $386!!! The guy said verbatim "we need to resolve this or we can't sell your loan". Are you kidding? I had finally had it and I went off and told them it would be a cold day in hell before I brought in that check. Even after expressing that I would like a call from upper management to talk about the horrible experience I had, I didn't hear back from them for months. When they called they didn't ask anything at all about my experience, but told me that they heard that it was bad. They said they wanted to refinance my house for me and would pay all the costs to do so. Seemed kinda sketchy, but finally some good news!!! I sent in all my documentation and filled out the 87,000 page application. They ran my credit which did actually drop my score some. And then, THEY GHOSTED ME!!! I finally got a call back after I mentioned that I was planning to seek legal counsel, which I still am. I am now approaching winter with a roof that needs to be replaced. Thinking I was refinancing I did not take the steps to get lending for my roof because I thought I was in the middle of a refi. I honestly can't believe the experience was this bad. This company is THE ABSOLUTE WORST. DO NOT WORK WITH THEM.
