I went to the screening appoint and then received a bill for almost $700. The screening appointment was ten minutes and consisted of the physicians assistant telling me how to prep for a colonoscopy....something that could have been sent to me via email. Of course, I called the billing people and said that my insurance covers preventative care at 100% and that this screening should have been billed as preventive not a $700 office visit. After calling three times over the course of three months, I finally got the answer that they were not going to change the bill. Seems like insurance fraud to me. Anyway cancelled the colonoscopy and will look at having it done somewhere other than CGH. Due to this experience, I will also stop seeing Dr. Cutter for my eyes and will instead go to an eye doctor not associated with CGH. Total ripoff....CGH = Can't Get Help.

It is the first time I've been without pain in years. Dr. Charles Dennehey examined me with deficiency and diligence. Without asking me 1000 questions and without making me wait forever he told me will get you out of pain and that's just what they did. He ordered up a cocktail of shots to be put in my IV and not only did it cure my acute pain from throwing out my back, but it cured my chronic pain I've been having for years it was in my neck and shoulders and traps in the low back. I am so very thankful and I'm convinced that once Illinois has you in their system. They will do anything and everything they can to control you so they can make money off you like offer, new epidural shots in your spine and surgeries, rather than giving you a simple fix of drugs just an IV it's amazing. So let it be known that if your chronic pain suffer Like the millions of people out there, try this cocktail of drugs at this doctor gave me to fix my acute back pain because it cured my chronic pain. Mornings, almost impossible to find a Disabled parking spot, only ones far far away…read more At the front desk, try to find the signs, where is the bathroom ? the cafeteria (hint, it is at the elevator long long down the hall) ? the place to pick up their patient, after being treated, if you are driving ? way down the hall, elevator up, then... I gave up, unable to walk that far... Cafeteria ? Locked doors. No sign, no hours, nothing. Hard enough to find, long walk, and (expletive deleted) what the h... ? Candy and pop machines super expensive, if you can get them to work.. I failed. Do they hate people ? Does the front desk just goof off and accidently help some people ? Wheelchairs up front, some are skinny, some are big. How can you tell ? I could not,,, There is a brake system behind the back top of the chair, or it does not work, you gotta see and read the small print AND instructions on it ??? Can you sit in it and operate it... NO !!! F... you it screams. Luckily this is not a place where sick people go, or those in distress, or bad off, its a country club for workers. Sad.

NOW, I would absolutely hate to be someone walking into the ER with ANY issue (I've always ended up going by ambulance rig for ER visits) that should have prompt attention. Tonight I witnessed first hand how an ER can be run so piss poorly, that I would choose to drive 30 miles to a podunk hospital than ho to Trinity Rock Island as a walk in patient. A 40 year old male presenting with left side abdominal pains just below the ribcage, low grade fever, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, panic attacks, loss of appetite, vomiting blood, chest tightness, b/p of 158/98 at 180 lbs pulse of 100bpm, and fainting spells sits for 30 minutes when there are only 4 others waiting and an empty parking lot showing that there is no way that in an ER with atleast 20 bed could be full. The receptionist, who is lucky I missed her name tag or I'd call and raise hell tomorrow with their HR, was rude as hell. When taken in for triage to find out the chief complaints of the patient (I went in as a witness), patient was handed a specimen cup and told that if he was able to fill it once he was sent BACK to the waiting room, that would help speed up his waiting time, he filled it after another 10 minutes in the waiting room and passed it to the desk woman. After another 45 minutes he was called back for blood draws. Sent back out to wait again, and an hour later he decided to go to a smaller hospital half an hour away the following day, and just be in pain that night. He was wrong for leaving, but when you feel like absolute crap, you're in pain, haven't been able to eat, or sleep well, for 2-3 months, explain it to someone and get nothing in return, your anger can take over and you do counterproductive things. I'd rather be beaten half to death with a bag full of rocks than have to walk into that ER. Ambulance rides rule there.

I received a call about genetic counseling and the VM said they were calling from Finley Hospital. I go online to get the phone number and see it is actually now called UnityPoint Health. I call the number, they answer the phone, "Finley Hospital" I asked for genetic counseling and am told they don't offer that service. I said that the person who left the message said they were from Finley. I asked about the Wendt Cancer Center attached to them and she says, "Oh, yeah!" and transfers me back in to the main phone chain. I had to start all over. Maybe a fact sheet would help to allow you to be able to give correct info to callers. Thank you!

I was in the emergency room this week cared for by Dr. Lucas and nurse Elizabeth (Liz) . I was cared for right away and made comfortable. We all know it can be very crowded and long waits at emergency rooms but it's just never seems to be a bad experience a Finley. They watch the waiting room very carefully understanding who is in the room and who needs what and that they are safe. Thank you Dr. Lucas and nurse Liz!
