About a month ago, I went with my husband to Morris Formalwear to get him a tuxedo for an upcoming gala. When my husband was still serving in the military he'd always wear his mess kit (since all our formal functions were related to the military), but now that he's retired from the military, he wanted to get a tuxedo for these functions. We were 3 weeks out from the gala when he decided it was time to buy one. A bit last minute, if you ask me, lol. Fortunately, his height and build allows him to buy most items off-the-rack and thus even for formal wear he requires minimal if any alterations. The store was much busier on a Saturday afternoon in May than I expected (although I guess it was prom, graduation and wedding season). We milled around a bit before someone was available to help us. We told the salesman we were looking for a black classic tuxedo. My husband told him his size and he grabbed a jacket for my husband to try on. My husband said "great" and that must have been the quickest $500 sale ever. The jacket required no alterations. The salesman measured my husband's waist and gave him a pair of pants and brought him down to the seamstress in the basement. She pinned the hem, marked the waist to take in a smidge, and we were good to go. They said it would be done in a week. My husband called them the day before we were supposed to pick up to confirm it was done, as we didn't want to make the trip out there for nothing, but there was no answer, so he left a voicemail. They never returned his voicemail. So the morning of, he called again and the salesman said he thinks it's done, but they are really swamped. Uh, ok. So we went. The saleslady helped us this time and after looking around for it for a bit, she found it. It was done and fit perfectly. I must say, my impression was that the saleslady was about customer service. She was friendly and wanted to ensure we were satisfied. My impression was that the salesman was just concerned with making a sale. That's just how I personally felt after our interactions. Also I felt $500 for a tux, not even designer or anything, was expensive, but I guess everything is expensive these days. I think you can get them for less at chains like Moores, but we do like supporting small independent businesses. But whatever, my husband is happy and looks handsome in his tux, so I'm happy ;) Street parking only. read more

Another terrible experience with Morris Formal Wear. I gave them a second chance because they were in my neighbourhood. I was assured they had improved by the owner, but no they haven't. I wish I hadn't returned. Many years ago I rented tuxes for my sons and they were in horrible form (rips and balled around the neck). Now, this past New Year Eve, I paid $223.74 to rent a men's Tux for one night. It had rips on the vest and it looked horrible. No acceptable customer service either when I returned it today, not even an apology for the holes in the vest!!! Don't rent from Morris Formal Wear if you want a quality rental. read more

Terrible experience with Morris Formal Wear. I was recently part of a wedding party that rented 6 suits, and all of us experienced issues with our rentals, most notably upon pickup of our orders. After being measured and trying a few things on, we each paid in advance for our suits and were told we could pick them up about 7-10 days before the wedding, and any adjustments could be made at that time, if required. Upon pickup, everyone was missing a vest (originally paid for), and some were missing other items like a pocket square (again, paid for and included on the initial receipt). Fortunately, I went to pick up my suit a bit later, and the vest issue had been corrected in my own setup, however the jacket and vest were completely different sizes. I find it a bit ridiculous that a size M jacket would be paired with an XL vest. After putting on the dress shirt that came with my suit, it was obvious to me that it was much too tight, and that I would need a bigger size, as the buttons were on the verge of popping off across my chest. Upon pointing this out to the salesperson, he told me, "Slim fit is the current style," even though it was VERY obvious that the shirt was significantly too small for me, and I had visible skin showing through the gaps between buttons. Additionally, when one of the groomsmen attempted to go back and get his missing pocket square, they were reluctant to give it to him, and attempted to charge him a second time for it, even though they had a copy of the receipt clearly identifying that it was part of the order and that he had already paid for it. This is clearly a family run shop, and the son appeared disinterested and was mostly unhelpful during my first visit. The father took exception to some of his behaviour, and proceeded to berate him in front of me. I do not think this is appropriate behaviour in front of the customer, and could have been dealt with behind closed doors after finishing my appointment. The suits themselves were nice, looked good in pictures, and received multiple compliments from the guests, however the service received left a bad taste in all of our mouths, and none of us would rent from them again. read more

My opinion of Morris Formal Wear goes beyond five stars! Sam and his staff are low-key and laid-back but are really, really knowledgeable. They made our experience of renting a tux easy and pleasant. The tuxes are high quality and fit beautifully after adjustments, which are made on site. As an added bonus, you will find that their prices are very competitive. Because of special circumstances, my son and I needed to pick up our tuxes a week early. That was not a problem and everything was ready as promised. Give them a try! I went in today to find a button for my son's tuxedo jacket. He is a professional musician and had a gig so he needed it fast. The gentleman at Morris Formal Wear said he would get it done right away. Five minutes later, it was done and I also had two spare buttons. Now that's service! I'll definitely be back. read more

i was verry dissapinted on the service the tux did not fit right to one of the groom shirt sleeve to small and pants to big and the owner was telling us that how its suppose to look the father of the bride did not get the right tux and wrong color .....did not like the service at all..the owner would argue with you because he did not want to fix the problem...would not go their again read more
