If you are not…read morefamiliar with Culinaria, they are a non-profit organization with the purpose of promoting San Antonio food & beverage. They host & organize great events that highlight the local food & beverage industry, including Restaurant Weeks and the San Antonio Wine & Food Festival. This week they have been hosting a cocktail summit with various educational and dining activities. I only attended the cocktail party, but enjoyed it very much. The event space at the Witte was filled with cocktail and food tasting tables from various restaurants and beverage makers, including distilleries, Stella beer and lots of great food. My favorite dish was the fried rice from Botika in the Pearl, but I tried lots of new things I would not order off a menu without sampling first. My friends are whiskey connoisseurs, and found a whiskey they thought was the best they've tasted in Texas. If you are a " foodie", I highly recommend that you get on the Culinaria mailing list so you can keep current with their events and activities.

San Antonio has such a unique and vibrant culinary culture. The Alamo City is known worldwide as a source of everything from BBQ, beer, wine, and tacos! This organization holds events to promote our local area foods, restaurants, breweries and wineries! They hold a bunch of events for chairty. One is a Taco Competition, where you can sample tacos from the area's leading chefs. They had competitors ranging from taco stands to haute cuisine chefs, serving up top of the line, and imaginative, innovative tacos. A variety of tequilas were paired with the tacos. Culinaria also puts on Restaurant Week, where a long list of participating, local restaurants offer a prix fix menu, ranging from $10-35, where each restaurant shows off their skills with a set menu! It's actually a great deal, and you don't have to worry about spending wild amounts of money. They also hold an annual 5k, where you run, and then stuff your face with delicious foods and wine! What a great idea- all for charity! Culinaria raises money as a non-profit charity for culinary school scholarships and to promote our city! All of the food and drinks are for a great cause! Culinaria's events are not all about just eating and drinking, but they're also about education. When you attend one of their events, they have people out talking about their products, giving seminars to talk about why their creation matters, how it was made, or why it's so great. It's a great opportunity to gain some extra knowledge and insight into the local food scene. #EatDrinkGive

Drinks take 15+ min to get as an example. Once we got them, they were good and well prepared. I loved my espresso martini! 7 out of 8 meals at our table were improperly/undercooked. Medium selection came out almost rare, one of our meals came out at least 20 min after the rest and then it also was still undercooked- very pink pork. Once it was returned, it came back and was delicious and still moist. Everyone else lumped it and did not return their portions. Appetizers were good, but the portions seemed very small. Our service was mostly good - barring slowness of delivery- prob not servers fault. I felt like sitting there while everyone else was eating deserved accommodation. They took my meal back and they did fix it, but sitting there for almost half an hour while everyone else is finishing their meals is uncomfortable for the guest and not good. Nothing was even really acknowledged and Our tab was significant. They are packed to the gills right now. Folks waiting in Line to get in. I think there are some things they need to work on and feel like they will aggressively attack their shortcomings once they are recognized. It's a very nice place, but I'm going to give them a little time to work out the kinks before I spend my $$$ there again.

New Braunfels has Texas's oldest bakery (Naeglin's), their cookies and kolaches are delicious. Make sure to explore downtown New Braunfels there is plenty of street parking and shops to explore. Theres a church in downtown that has beautiful scripture tiles discussing different passages in the Bible. There's a museum of handmade furniture with a lady who does a great job at explaining life during that time. There's also a nearby souvenir cabin. In the nearby town of Gruene, check out their souvenir shop and rhea's icecream for unique flavors. In addition the Gruene Lake Village is close by with a couple of local businesses and restaurants to explore. I recommend the kora kora coffeeshop, naturally cafe etc. The only thing I wouldn't get here is their boba tea it's overpriced and tastes terrible. All in all New Braunfels is a quiet German town with plenty of history, friendly faces and a nice day trip.

I am familiar with AIT (American Indians in Texas) who works with the local Native community offering family services such as counseling and group sessions, but also hosts the Four Seasons Indian Market at Mission San Juan. They have several Native American vendors and I especially love the jewelry. They also showcase traditional dances and talk to the audience about the meaning of their performances. I've also attended events at Progreso Hall. This is a good venue for parties and large lecture-type of events. The hall is spacious and well-lit. There were maybe 100 people seated at the event I attended. In addition, I like their outdoor plaza that is great for public performances with a built-in stage, canopy, and seating. Just watch out for the pigeons! It also has a nice playground for children, however, I wouldn't stay there past sunset.
