As its new its very well laid out. There is a good sized kids area, internet section and chairs for doing some work or reading in. There is a good section of books and because its in the Merton area you can request books from any of the other libraries in the network. The people working there are very friendly and helpful. The DVD section is good and you can return items out of hours via a drop box.

It was opened in 1887 and the building has a very nice feel about it. It has recently undergone a bit of a refurbishment as previously it did look a little cramped in the main area. The usual areas are all there with Non-fiction, fiction, reference. I have used it quite a bit for studying in. The study section is located at the back of the library and there are a fair number of desks. The newspapers are also in that area so it can get quite busy. The library is all on one floor and off to one side is the Internet section. If your a registered user you can get an hour a day on the internet. It obviously is fairly busy during peak time but the 1 hour limit helps. I am not a parent but the library does have a good childrens section and often there are workshops happening for mothers and babies/kids. Another good thing is the library is on the Merton library website so you can search for books online and I believe they are adding online renewals.

They have loads of books and CDs on a wealth of subjects that will satisfy the need for knowledge for all types of inquiring minds. One thing that sets this library apart from others is their impressive DVD collection; Blockbuster pales in comparison. Streatham Library has hundreds of new and classic mainstream and underground movies to choose from and they usually let you check them out for about £1.50 a pop. So, instead of getting ripped off at the cinema or at your local video rental store, go to this library, you'll be surprised at what you can find.

What a wonderful library this is and what a haven it was. With plenty of wildlife, you can often see the herron sitting on the island in the middle of the lake. There are squirrels, ducks and plenty of tropical parrots that fly above. There is also a library and a garden centre within the grounds so there is something for everyone. It is my favourite park and is truly a beautiful and harmonious place.

Sooriya, the extremely helpful and kind library assistant took over from me and finished off the tasks. I could not be more grateful to her, as I needed these documents scanned sooner, rather than later. Every time I am in that library, I can see that Sooriya engages wholeheartedly with the visitors who have queries, or need support in using the library facilities. I was struck with her compassion and support for everyone. If all libraries had assistants like Sooriya, people would feel supported and their expectations from the visit met. A big thank you to Sooriya.

First off the security guy here offered to help with my education enquiries which was odd. Then I approached the front desk and spoke to a young woman, whom I could at first glance, was not equipped to answer my questions. Simple question: Do people (parents, students) have access to the school education curriculum? Do they have some sort of online access to what they are supposed to be learning at school? This moronic waste of space's response: " I don't know. I think teachers have them! But why would anyone as a parent want to have their kid's curriculum?" Clearly the only way to get a school education curriculum of basic subjects such as Maths, Science is through the school or the government. My surprise was the retarded question as to why any parent would want to know what their kid is supposed to learn. Clearly if your parents had access to the curriculum you wouldn't have ended up in a library with a dumb attitude about learning.
