Marcus is my daughter's hero. After 7 years of on-and-off family court litigation, and a prior attorney lacking experience/spread too thin, I found an attorney who could identify the issues and patterns, and speak for us effectively. Marcus is highly responsive, and his communications are brief, direct, and clear. The pleadings he personally wrote were excellent. He helped bring longstanding patterns of harmful behavior to the court's attention and secure an outcome that better protects our daughter, including increased physical custody and legal tie-breaking authority for me. He was also able to prevent a frivolous evidentiary hearing requested by the co-parent, which was a huge savings of resources that would have again been unnecessarily spent. I noticed a meaningful difference between his own writing and those prepared by his team, particularly in the clarity and depth of the arguments. This is normal for an experienced professional vs one who is learning. For a complex case, I would recommend requesting his final review of all pleadings. Family law representation is expensive, the financial burden is significant. I appreciated that Marcus kept our work focused on the facts, legal issues, and decisions that mattered. His style is practical and direct; he offers legal guidance rather than extensive emotional reassurance. For me, that focus helped make productive use of our time and resources. As for any engagement with a professional, I recommend you discuss budget and scope at the outset so that there is mutual understanding. I am deeply grateful for his advocacy and what it has meant for our daughter and our family. We finally have peace in our lives, thanks to Marcus. read more

Emi Morales is the most unprofessional attorney. She avoids all calls, emails, and conversations. Unless you are her family. We've reported her to the bar association. We will continue to fight until the situation she has created is taken care of. Avoids using her and her office at all costs unless you want to be 3 days from closing and she's ghosts your legal team for days. Terrible excuse for an attorney and she should be ashamed of herself. read more

AWFUL! I wish I had never hired him. I had a terrible experience with morales: I wasted over $100,000 for a simple divorce. Stay away if you have limited funds. I discovered too late Morales is not trustworthy and is a poor communicator of vital info. He is greedy and without compassion. He would not answer my questions nor give sound advice. His smooth and calm demeanor may work in the courtroom but don't be swayed. A friend warned me to stay away from an attorney who advertises on TV. A good lawyer, especially one who has been in business as long as he has, shouldn't need to advertise. AND WATCH OUT: he might quit on you in the middle of your case. I will be filling a complaint with the California Bar Association. STAY AWAY! read more

Marcus Morales did a phenomenal job at representing me and winning my case. He is very professional & knowledgeable. From the very beginning I felt comfort in knowing my case would be handled well. I highly recommend recommend Marcus Morales as your attorney read more

I can't say enough good things about the law office of Mr. Morales. Even though he joined my divorce case towards the end, he was able to prepare thoroughly for my final trial within just a few days. My divorce had dragged on for over 3 years, with one particular issue that hadn't been resolved for over a year. Mr. Morales was able to resolve that issue efficiently and bring the case to a successful conclusion. I've seen some negative reviews about his fees, but I have to disagree, my former attorney charged much more and did far less to represent my interests. Every divorce costs a lot of money, and that's to be expected. Mr. Morales's fees were reasonable, and he worked hard for every dollar I paid. I only wish I had hired him from the start, he truly made a difference in my case! read more

I went with my sister to her first meeting with Marcus, he made so many promises and delivered on none of them. First meeting almost a year ago he stated a forensic accountant was needed to be hired. Never happened! He said her soon-to -be ex husband would be responsible for her attorney fees, but then continually asked her for more & more money and sent multiple invoices for thousands of dollars stating if she didn't pay he could no longer represent her. After only doing mediation never making it to court and nickel and dime-ing her for emails, very shot text messages, few minute phone calls, writing papers, opening dropbox most of which he charged between $90 and hundreds of dollars for, she is now out of funds including her retirement savings and he will not represent her anymore. She was going to have him file an emergency child custody order for her special needs son and without her consent he sent a letter to her ex's attorney asking if he would just give up custody to her. This alerted him to her plan to get her child to a safe place and the ex had time to retaliate before an emergency order was filed. So my nephew is still in danger and not having his basic needs met. And my sister is now the victim of intimidation by her ex due to his negligence. Do not use this attorney!! Just my opinion but believe this attorney was working behind the scenes with her ex to drain her savings etc. so she would have to settle. read more

I hired Marcus Morales after getting pushed through the wringer with another attorney and my divorce dragging out for 3.5 years! He told me he could get my case settled within a few months, he talked about hiring a forensic accountant right away since my soon to be ex husband owns a valet parking business and pulls large amounts of cash out of his company he does not claim. I provided Marcus with a $5,000 retainer which I had to borrow because I was put in a financial position where I could not afford this. Marcus was fully aware of my financial position and assured me my ex husband would be responsible for my attorney's fees. When I asked him a month later when we were going to get the forensic accountant involved he said he used the whole retainer getting familiar with my case. Then that to do any discovery it would cost a lot more for this! Throughout the last year I have been getting invoice after invoice that are completely over the top, just to keep the case communication open. He told me a few months ago he could no longer represent me if I could not pay him the at the time $4,000 in invoices for a few very brief calls and emails. I had to beg for a payment plan to get the balance back and then I had to empty my retirement which I will be taxed and penalized on to be able to keep making him payments. I have a son with special needs and he became severely depressed so I came back to SB to be with him. My ex lied to me about providing me early settlement funds to be able to afford the time off work and being here with my son. He lied to me and cornered me to try and force me to settle. I told Marcus and provided emails and text and back and forth between my ex and I. Marcus did not fight for me at all when this happened. Since my son is not doing well and clearly is not getting the support he needs. He is so emotionally distraught that he has not been attending school. I asked Marcus if we could file an emergency order so I could take my son to be with me and get him the treatment he needs. Marcus called me on the phone a few months ago and told me he wanted to take my case back on when I told him I was being forced to do the back and forth negotiations directly with my ex husband because I could not afford the ridiculous fees that kept coming in just for trying to keep my case open. He said they would keep the bills for when the case got settled! Well he lied and that is not what happened! Marcus said he now had a bill of over $9,000 and could not help unless I settled that. I looked at the invoice and they were all charges from opening emails I sent to him and a few phone calls that were less than a few minutes! Given the extreme circumstances I am now left without anyone to represent me and my son is now being forced to stay with a father who is not caring for him with his special needs. If you are in a position where you have low funds do not use this attorney in fact run the other way he will just lie to you and trail you along until you have nothing and then leave you without any representation even if you have a special needs child going through a severe dis regulation due to not having the proper support. Just spoke with Mr Morales on the phone and told him the jist of what I was looking for. He advised me that based on what I'm looking for a lawyer wouldn't be necessary and it would be more cost effective to have someone prepare my documents elsewhere.
