Peppler Funeral Home

Peppler Funeral Home

My father passed in 2010, and his services were handled by Peppler Funeral Home in Bordentown, New…read moreJersey. The Peppler family took a very difficult time and made it as painless as possible. My Father was cremated, and through a strained familial relationship, I was under the impression his cremains were collected soon after by another family member. Many years later, I learned no one had collected his remains. Now in 2025, and being fairly certain it was a fruitless call, but desperately trying to correct for my great failure, I contacted Peppler to see if they could at least point me in the direction of where my fathers remains may have ultimately been placed. To my great shock and greater relief, his cremains were still in the possession of the home; 15 years later! Their kindness and dedication carried forward into coordinating the quick shipping of my Father's cremains to me in Florida where my family now lives. There aren't words that can truly describe my deep appreciation for the service Peppler Funeral Home of Bordentown provided to my family. They are incredible people doing a difficult job, with a level of compassion and integrity, rarely seen today. Thank you.

My neighbor (Steve Grossman) who lives across the street from me sat with me the entire time and recalls this quite well. Also, Howard rushed back into my house after loading the hearse and proceeded to show me a large catalog of photos of coffins. I did not ask him to do this. My neighbor, Steve, remembers this clearly, also. He says he kept shaking his head no, but that I was transfixed on the photos and did not see that. Howard never discussed with me less expensive alternatives such as creation. (Locustwood Memorial Park has a Jewish Mausoleum next to my wife's grave). The next day I called Howard and told him I wanted to puchased his least expensive coffin. During that call he asked me to have a check for full payment on Tuesday, the day of the graveside service. My daughter, had traveled from Rochester, NY to be with me. She remembers quite well my saying on the phone, "look Howard, I have one of the highest credit ratings on earth, but I cannot obtain over $11,000. dollars that quickly. At that point he relented, and agreed to accept a check for half on Tuesday and the rest a week or two later. Howard charged me for a shroud, NEVER explaining to me she could be buried in hear own street clothing. He charged me for cosmetology, then never offered that I give her a final kiss goodbye by briefly lifting the coffin lid. (To this day, I'm not even certain she was in that coffin). Shortly after the graveside service, I purchased an identical prepaid funeral for myself for $9,000. The reason I never expressed any dissatisfaction to Howard was that my wife passed away suddenly and unexpectedly and I was in such a profound state of grief that I did not understand the various ways Howard was taking advantage of me. I want to share all this with others to let them know they should be wary of Howard. He seems very friendly on the surface, but his primary goal is to maximize his profits. Jerry Goldstein.
