I would NEVER use H&R Block! I used the Rock Hill, SC H&R Block office to prepare my 2023 Tax…read moreReturns. I decided to use H&R Block because I had 4 tax returns to complete, IRS - Federal, NC, SC and GA tax returns. After the returns were completed and signed, the H&RB representative electronically filed the returns. Acknowledgement from GA and SC were received the same day, (S.C. required a substantial payment of several thousand dollars which was removed from my bank account the same day). Acknowledgement received from NC within two days. After a month of waiting for word from the IRS, I contacted H&RB informing them I had not received anything from the IRS. H&R Block opened and internal investigation and learned that someone had filed a tax return using my social security number. Further investigation revealed that the H&RB representative entered my SS number incorrectly. The returns were refiled using the correct SS number and SC promptly removed the same amount from my bank account again; it took two weeks to finally get a refund from the second payment to the SC dept. of Revenue. Additionally, there were penalties and interest on the IRS return for "late filing". The manager of the Rock Hill office assured me that they would pay the penalties and interest for the IRS and that they would refund the $460 I paid to have them prepare and file the tax returns. After the run-around they did pay the penalties and interest but would not refund the preparation fees. I gave up trying to get the manager to fulfill her word. If I made them wait for an hour, I'd be out of work. I guess I'll have to make an appointment with a real accountant.
