I was in Moonlight last night, and their credit card machine was supposedly not working---they wanted cash only. I had originally wanted to get three 20-packs of Marlboros, two bottles of Smirnoff and a few other things such as juice. Because I didn't have enough cash on me to cover the charges, the woman cashier said I'd have to give up a few things, so I had her take back a bottle of Smirnoff, a pack of cigarettes (the cigarettes are key here) and the miscellaneous juice and cookies. She put the Smirnoff and cigarettes back on the shelf, put the bags with the other items under the counter, and reduced my bill accordingly. I'd taken a cab, so I had my driver take me to a local ATM, withdrew some cash, and went back to buy the rest of my original order, including the Smirnoff, cigarettes and little bag of juice, etc. I wasn't paying much attention but did see her put a bottle of Smirnoff in a bag, and she also said she'd put the cigarettes back. The problem is that the first time I'd ordered cigarettes, they had only two boxes with the white tops left, so I said one with a red top (Marlboro regulars) was fine (three packs total). She charged me the balance of what I supposedly owed, but when I got back, I found that the two white-topped packs of cigarettes I'd originally kept were still there, but she hadn't replaced the red-topped box. She charged me for a pack of cigarettes that she never put back in my bag. I didn't keep the receipt so I can't prove it, but she was being rude throughout both transactions, I'm American, and I guess she thought it would be easy to rip me off. So now I'm short a pack of cigarettes, and because their credit card machine supposedly isn't working and they're taking "cash only," they're not accountable for taxes on what they sell. This place is a ripoff. If you DO buy anything there, especially if it's from behind the counter, make sure to watch that the cashier actually GIVES you the item you asked for. Otherwise, you'll pay for it, but you won't receive it. read more
