Breastfeeding my second child didn't come as naturally as it did with my first, and I was feeling desperately discouraged. She immediately put me at ease and guided me through positioning and latch techniques that made an enormous difference. What truly set her apart, though, was her responsiveness and dedication. When I noticed the early signs of mastitis, she dropped everything to support me. She gave me the exact steps I needed to take within those crucial first hours, and thanks to her guidance, I was able to get ahead of the issue quickly. Her support has been invaluable, and I'm so grateful for the care and expertise she provided. If you're struggling or simply need reassurance on your breastfeeding journey, she is absolutely the person you want by your side.

She provided quality care in the comfort of our home. She was professional and understanding. She answered all of my questions (as a first time mom) and never made me feel as though what I was asking was silly or obvious! My son is now fully breastfed and we owe a great deal of that to Teresa's expertise and patience! I would highly recommend her to anyone that feels like something isn't clicking when it comes to breastfeeding! Thank you, Teresa!

My wife and I recently had our first child and we wanted to try to exclusively breastfeed / use…read morebreast milk if possible. However, we found out during our first few pediatrician visits that our baby was actually losing weight instead of gaining the expected 1oz/day. Baby was latching, but constantly kept falling asleep at the breast and thus wasn't eating as much as she needed to. Our pediatrician recommended Debra as a local lactation consultant and we couldn't be happier! Debra was very easy to connect with and she has honestly been a life saver. From the first moment we exchanged messages she was so helpful, thorough and enthusiastic and supportive. Before even meeting Debra in person we had a FaceTime session with her and she immediately saw a few issues with the way we were breastfeeding and gave us real time instructions/tips on how to improve latching/feeding and they worked! After our first in-person meeting with Debra, she drafted up a game plan for us for a baby feeding "boot camp" where we needed to temporarily supplement breast milk with formula both via bottle feeding in order to get the baby's weight up so she'd stay awake during breastfeeding. She walked us through every step and was so responsive to texts and the portal at all hours of the day. Debra kept following up to see how things were going and she does not give up! She was so optimistic, persistent, and determined for my wife to start producing more milk and to breastfeed more easily and low and behold after two VERY HELPFUL sessions we pretty much are there! Debra is like an encyclopedia of knowledge and has the best positive attitude. She answered all our questions and concerns very honestly and was very straight forward, but always remaining positive and realistic. We wouldn't know where we would be without her! If you are having issues with breastfeeding look no further! Reach out to Debra and we guarantee you'll be beyond satisfied like we were!

In my raw,…read morepostpartum days after an emergency c section and a ten day stay in a hospital, I was breastfeeding and desperate for clothes I didn't feel terrible in and that I could breastfeed easily in. I stopped here and not only did they provide a cozy, private place for me to breastfeed with a helpful Breast Friend pillow, they also had changing tables and a scale for me to use, which brought me peace of mind. Then the nice young lady working there (after giving me space and privacy to nurse) helped me find nursing bras that I love (bravado, sadly being discontinued) and I even found some great nursing shirts that I wear every day. I am writing this review because Sheila Janakos doesn't just help new parents in her store/lactation support center but she is also a generous soul who helps the community. I have been on the board of a nonprofit for 32 years now called Nursing Mothers Counsel which provides free lactation support via phone with volunteers trained in lactation and counseling support. We are a great back up source for parents who may not need the expert support that Sheila and her IBCLC staff provide, or who are in need of support after business hours. We are so grateful to Healthy Horizons for donating 4 Medela Symphony Pumps to NMC for use as grant rentals for low income families we serve. This substantial donation will certainly help many low income families in the Bay Area and Santa Cruz County. Sheila has remained an affiliate member of our small non-profit and supported NMC with donations throughout her many years associated with our organization. Thank you so much Sheila and Healthy Horizons for your generosity and support!

TLDR: Choosing to work with Liat was the best decision I made for my birth. I cannot recommend her…read moreenough and am already looking forward to working with her again. I worked with Liat for the birth of my first child earlier this year, hoping for an unmedicated delivery in a hospital setting. From our very first call, her deep understanding of the healthcare system -- where it excels and where it falls short for labor and delivery -- immediately put me at ease. I knew I'd be in good hands. In our two prenatal meetings, Liat taught my husband and me so much about approaching labor both mentally and physically. The sessions were eye-opening and genuinely prepared us for every scenario we might face. I took birth classes too, and while they were helpful, my time with Liat was by far the most valuable part of my birth education. When the day came, her support was nothing short of extraordinary. She monitored my contractions, came to both my home and the hospital, massaged me through every contraction, helped me reposition, and guided us in navigating the hospital staff with my birth preferences. For hours on end, she was warm, calm, and completely present. It's hard to put into words how deeply cared for I felt -- she has a rare gift for making people feel safe and at home during one of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. My birth went beautifully, exactly as I had hoped, and I owe so much of that to Liat. Both my husband -- a physician -- and I are certain we could not have had such a wonderful experience without her.

Long overdue review for Liat - (VBAC: September 2024)…read more I had an unmedicated VBAC and I cannot stress enough how important Liat was during every minute of labor and delivery. During my first pregnancy i didn't have a doula and barely got any help from the hospital staff. During my initial visit, I was impressed with her confidence (she gave the exact same info as my OB) and chose her to be doula during birth. During early labor she gave the right guidance to manage pain and prolong the stay at home. That helped us reach hospital during active labor which was a key difference from my previous C-section. The hospital staff were surprised that I had progressed so much in my labor, managing at home. Liat helped with different positions during active labor at the hospital, massaging my back which helped during contractions. During pushing, Liat had me push with different positions (I got no inputs from the hospital staff) I trusted her inputs and presence which helped me stay calm mentally. Baby boy came out in a perfect way, and it was truly a dream birth. She had a great relationship with my husband and made him feel at ease throughout labor and delivery. After birth, Liat continued to check in with us every single day to make sure my recovery and everything with the baby was going well. I did not plan for unmedicated birth given that pregnancy and birth are not within our control. But with Liat's presence, I had full confidence to give birth without epidural. 100% recommend Liat!!
