Started off as a great experience but in the end it was poor guidance and pretty bad customer service. I bought 2 potted trees and after speaking to a arborist the recommended trees should never be in a pot. The trees are dying quickly after a very large price. This place has so many "read the fine print" flaws I can't help but give them a low rating. All of the "specials" and "deals" you are offered in their advertising are not--the prices are no less than if you just called them out of the blue. Also, their claim that the prices you are quoted covers everything is false. They fail to mention that in addition to the already sky high price they have quoted there is an additional $250 delivery fee!! Their trees are described as though they are HUGE. NOT TRUE!! The smallest size that they offer is basically the same as a very similar tree--blood orange, mandarin orange, & nectarine--that you could buy at Home Depot for about $75 cost about $500! And while they do plant the trees, they do not attach them to irrigation or repair any damage done to surrounding landscaping. read more

Went to new Moon Valley nursery today for the first time they're having their grand opening this weekend. I suggest everyone go. It's such a fun place. It has something for the little kids and something for all the adults when you buy a tree there they will plant it for you. I'm amazed at how knowledgeable they are and they have been able to answer. I purchased a hard to come by tree thanks to their help finding it. Thank goodness I also purchased the 1 yr. warranty. Fast forward, the tree showed issues after about 10 months and needed to be replaced. Thanks to the assistance (and patience) of their lead designer, Kirstie Aon, she was able to help me find a suitable replacement (to meet Fire Wise regulations). Let me start by saying that I am still in process with Moon Valley (waiting on my delivery/planting date), but my process thus far working with Kirstie Aon has been fantastic! I reached out to schedule an appt to come up to the nursery and explore tree options for my yard. My appointment was a few weeks away, but I received a message from Kirstie asking if I wanted to connect via phone before. It was so helpful to talk with her before I visited and get some ideas. My actual visit to the nursery was fantastic. Kirstie was super welcoming and knowledgeable, and had a plan for our walkthrough. Once I got closer to knowing what I wanted, we talked more about my budget and she was able to guide me towards the size/age/type of trees that would be great in my yard and not exceed what I had budgeted. Moon Valley Nursery carries quite an array of beautiful, healthy looking trees and plants. We bought an older agave from them and the crew that came out to plant it, headed by Marco Moreno Barajas, did a stellar job. They also identified a struggling young Maple Tree that was experiencing heat stress and gave it a booster treatment. They'll come back soon to remove some of the low hanging branches. We just had a California pepper tree delivered yesterday after finding THE perfect tree with the help of Kirstie last month - we absolutely loved the selection at Moon Valley and after searching nearly a year for something similar to a weeping willow we found the perfect substitution with her help. We can't believe how smoothly things went for us - even with a yard full of rocks the planting was done within a day and we're enjoying a massive mature tree in our yard. My wife and I were looking for a Japanese maple tree to replace the one that died last summer. My wife spoke with Kirstie Aon and arranged to meet with her. When we got to Moon Valley Nursery, Kirstie was outside waiting for us. We discussed our needs, what our backyard was like, where we lived, etc. Kirstie listened closely and had some great suggestions, including cautioning us to maybe rethink our plan to replace the tree with the same one because the kind we like may have a difficult time growing in that part of our yard. What we enjoyed about working with Kirstie was that she didn't pressure us to make a decision on what to buy. She offered us some suggestions and took us around to different parts of the nursery to show us different Japanese maple trees. At one point, we reminisced about the Meyer lemon tree that was over 40 years old at our previous home, and how much we loved it. She then took us to see a few of those, as well. We then went to lunch to think about what we discussed. After careful consideration, we decided to go with the Meyer lemon tree because it was hardier for the area that we wanted to plant the tree in, and it would provide us fruit for years to come. Kirstie is a true nursery professional who is experienced with all phases of planting and nurturing trees, shrubs, and plants throughout this area. I highly recommend Moon Valley Nursery. While their prices may be higher than many, it also includes complimentary planting. The Meyer lemon tree was small enough for me to plant on my own, plus I had already dug the hole, so it was no problem for us to take the plant home. They included all the instructions for planting the tree and additional materials like planting mix and nutrients to make sure that our tree will grow and thrive in its new home. I purchased the Pro Care package for a Japanese maple June last year. Wilmar has completed two of the three visits and he is absolutely fantastic! If you want TLC for your tree, Wilmar is your guy. He is very knowledgeable and enjoys answering all of your questions. He goes the extra mile to ensure that you are pleased with his work! You can tell that he really loves caring for trees. The crew that came out to plant the tree found that the stump was not completely removed by the tree removal company, Vema Tree Service. Vema covered a 3 foot by 2 foot section of the stump with dirt (hard to miss) and claimed it was completely removed. As a result Moon Valley had to reschedule the planting. I need to update this review. When they were installing the very heavy trees The installation team drug the boxes with metal bottoms along my new driveway creating deep gouges in the concrete. I reached out to them several times but to no avail. The concrete is not repairable because patches cannot be made for these grooves that will actually look decent without it looking like some random highway that's been patched before. I would have to break up the concrete and have the pad replaced which is going to end up costing $37,000. It's been over a year and dozens of attempts. The damages to my property we're more than I paid for my trees. Do not buy trees from the nursery if you have things that they could damage during installation. Because they are not going to take responsibility. read more

Amazing service and beautiful trees. Our sales person Alex B was super professional and helpful. We found the exact tree we wanted, and he came out to the house to assess the viability of the tree in the location and accessibility for installation (which was a difficult location). This alone deserves praise. MVN really cares about where the tree is going... The day before delivery the nursery called to confirm, and the next day the crew arrived exactly as they said they would (called to let us know they were enroute too). The only hiccup was waiting for a huge "reach lift" machine to be delivered. Once that arrived, they hoisted the tree, and placed it about 30 feet in and 8 feet down from where the lift was...amazing. No drama, just real skill. This place is probably the best tree nursery in town. Their stock of mature trees is incredible. They have GORGEOUS, healthy, fruiting trees outside of greenhouses. Why does that matter? Most of the fruit trees you buy come from hot houses and you're so excited they have fruit on them but the. You bring them home and they don't bear fruit for years. The trees at Moon Valley are the best in Northern California and I highly recommend a visit to their nursery. I made the mistake of visiting the other nearby nurseries and was sorely disappointed in their quality and terrible service. But at Moon Valley, they delivered on every front! Beautiful, high quality trees and wonderful selection. And their customer service was top notch. Kirstie Aon helped me pick the most beautiful Japanese blueberry, fruit and laurel trees and drove me around to view different types. She was highly knowledgeable and spent the time to help find just the right sizes. She also spent extra time fitting me in the delivery schedule and providing advice on soil, fertilizer and watering. Dani on the team was great too! A big shout out to Elias who led the delivery team - they arrived on time and carefully unloaded the trees on my property, giving me advice on how to care for them because they were not going to be planted for a few days. I'm so glad we decided to give Moon Valley a second chance! After feeling dismissed when I asked for guidance about preparing for a previous planting, I had no intention of buying from them again. However when we recently needed to get a tree, we went there because I knew that they had a really great selection we could look at to choose what kind of tree we wanted. Then I met Oliver, he was so knowledgeable and kind. When I related my previous experience to him he promised to make it right. Oliver really went above and beyond. He even came by my property to give advice when I wasn't really sure what trees would do best in which locations. Even though I knew we could buy the trees for less elsewhere we would then have to arrange for, and then pay, to have them planted. The planting day went really well and Kyle was great with follow-up. The Moon Valley guarantee is worth every penny! When one of the trees was damaged by the falling limb of a near by tree I contacted Oliver to see if the guarantee covered its replacement. Oliver said that of course it did, and just to send him a picture. The tree was replaced promptly. When Kyle called to follow up he even asked how our other plantings were doing after an extreme high wind event. When I told him that we lost two more plantings due to limbs falling from the same large tree he told me to contact Oliver when I'm ready to have them replaced.
