She interviewed me about jiu jitsu... i answered her questions to be denied over and over... why interview me if your rules are to deny me? I worked at 5 tenth planets in Southern California that alone gets me through the door if any 10th planet. I was absolutely mind blown by her arrogance. overall a really bad experience. I'll reiterate maybe it was me but also a friend of mine had the exact same experience. See my pics below. Sakura is a good gym and so is Gracie Barra in Woodstock down the road. When we picked him up and went home, my son informed me that one of the instructor (male-adult) was not nice to him and ask him to go back in line and lose his turn. When my son refused to do so. The instructor got angry and physically hurt my son which he pinched my son so hard from his side that made my son cry so hard and loudly. My son start screaming for help. Everybody in there heard him. The owner(Luis) told my son to go sit out for not following the rules and for refusing to listen to the instructor. My son told him the instructor hurt him but Mr. Luis said "even if the instructor hurt you, you still going to sit out for behaving this way". I cant believe they have no mercy toward a 6 yrs old child. After that my son was left alone crying at the waiting room and not allowed to join the team for a period of time. I immediately called the place and asked them to talk to Mr. luis (owner) in order to understand the situation. He was the one who answered the phone. He didn't apologized and didn't want to believe me. He said he was not there at that moment. But he told me, I can come tomorrow to review the cameras with him. He told me " We have cameras everywhere". So, I believed him and went the second day but I got informed by the same person (Luis) that all cameras were not working for that night. And because my son said that, he got terminated from this school. I feel so bad we trusted them and left our son with them. I cant believe a grown up man can do that to a child. I am extremely disappointed by the owner and his wife for removing the evidence just to cover up for the instructor which i believe he is a family member. I wish no parent has to go through this. Our children are the most important thing in our life. Please, be extra careful when you leave your children at this place or with anybody else. We can't trust nobody anymore. I do not recommend this place to anybody. They are not trust worthy.

Sifu Alan is an intelligent, supportive, and skilled instructor. His staff are qualified professionals, and their kid programs are great without interfering with the adult classes. They have a super flexible schedule and several different levels of membership. Some might quibble that they're pricey, but you are getting what you pay for. The facility is gorgeous, and everyone there is very positive. I know I sound like a bit of a tool for saying this, but you really do get a sense of belonging while being active there. I'd encourage you to try a demo class of each of the different styles. My favorites were Jeet Kun Do and Kung Fu. As a side note, they are one of the only places in the country to teach the Keysi Fighting Method, and if you are looking for realistic combat training against multiple opponents, this is your best bet.

Let me assure you these guys and gals welcome you with open arms. I have met some of the nicest and knowledgeable people at AMAC. If you have a question, they have an answer. Any time a student is having a hard time understanding or performing, they go out of their way to assist until you have eliminated your weakness. I personally love the fact that the staff, including Sifu, will take the time to call and check on you if you have been missing class. They really do care and this is what it takes for a leader to ensure your success. AMAC truly is an ego-free environment providing the best martial arts training. If you are willing to apply yourself, you are guaranteed to succeed and the staff/senior students will make sure you do no matter what it takes. I can personally recall multiple times that I have been training and senior students drop everything they are doing in order to correct my flaws. I feel honored to be a part of AMAC.

Bill and Meghna prepared me and my husband so well for the first class that we got really excited to come try it. The day of, they treated us like we were the only students in there! They are very attentive, detail oriented, extremely patient and absolutely precise. The best part is that they are like this every time, every class, not just the first trial class! The level of dedication they give to each individual person is indeed unique and very rare to find. My husband and I have been having so much fun ever since we set foot in this place! Every instructor is so amazing, they're excellent teachers providing exceptional guidance and they're all extremely careful with everyone, especially if you're new. They have this special way of making each class feel like it's the first class ever and the last one at the same time! It's very special. I trained directly with Sensei Wayne Van Horne for many years before moving to the west coast. If I still lived in the Greater Atlanta area, I would still be training at the Yamakan dojo. In addition to being a highly qualified technician who can really do what is being taught, Van Horne is a university professor and published author - meaning, he is a highly skilled educator who knows how to TEACH as well as DO! If you are new to Ogasawara-Ha Shorinji-Ryu, it is a traditional Karatedo system brought to us by the Ogasawara family (same family tree as Ogasawara-Ryu {formal school of etiquette practiced by the Japanese imperial family} and Ogasawara Kyudo {Japanese archery on horseback}). What this means to the student is that classes are run with considerable respect to one another, intense spirit, and a comprehensive curriculum that retains the full practice of standing techniques, throwing/controlling/restraining techniques, and Kobudo (Japanese and Okinawan weapons). There is great information on the website that explores this more. My recommendation to anyone in the Greater Atlanta Area is to try it out first-hand, or better yet bring a friend too.
