I had a haircut at this salon about a year ago from Arleen, who was recommended by a friend.
In a nut shell - I was charged $45.00 for Arlene to have an opportunity to sell me some product, while learning on me how to use the product and giving me an absolutely ridiculous look... oh yeah, and not actually bothering to do a thorough job on the service I came and paid for - split ends trim.
Full story - I get very bad split ends and wanted her to take care of any split ends while maintaining the form of existing hair cut. I also mentioned to Arlene that we recently moved to CO from Los Angeles, and that I was having difficulty adjusting to my hair behavior here while in LA due to humidity the hair had more volume and waves, here in CO due to very dry air the my hair go totally limp.
To that she said she'd show me how to keep my waves even here in CO. I was quite appreciative of that offer, but of course I was mainly interested in what I came for - a quality removal of split ends while remaining existing shape of my cut.
Arlene, did very quick and brief cutting of my split ends, I assumed it was just some pre-treatment and I'd get a thorough one after the hair wash. I did not.
Instead, she washed my hair and then went on putting a lot of some new curling product the salon was featuring into my hair. She put LOTS and LOTS of it, while keep telling me how amazing my hair would be. Normally, I am very picky on the products due to all the chemicals, but I was willing to let her try giving her enthusiasm.
After making my hair saturated with product she put me under the hair-drying cap, I spent some time there, while she was still going on about how amazing this product is, showing me a book on curly hair , etc.
After I spent quite a bit of time under the hair-drying cup my hair were as wet as ever. She then took me to her booth and tried drying them with a hand-held hair-dryer. The hair kept remaining just as wet, when her next client arrived and she told me I was done.
First of all, I looked like a WET POODLE! It was truly the most ridiculous looking hair style I ever had. Second, I asked what about my trim for split ends and she told she already did so when I first arrived. I questioned if that was really enough and she assured me she removed all split ends. To be honest, I don't even remember if I checked for split ends as I was pretty stunned with my Wet Poodle style that I was sent home like that while charged $45.00.
I felt she did not do a thorough job on my split ends as she was just trying to quickly rush through it, to then spend the rest of my appointment trying to sell me on this line of curling products the salon was featuring.
Additionally, she clearly did not know what she was doing with the product, as she put so much of it that my hair just wouldn't dry for hours after and when they did - my god, yes they were curly, but they looked absolutely stiff and silly, not even remotely natural.
Then, she abandoned me as her client in favor of her next appointment, even though she clearly saw she made a real mess of things.
And lastly, she assured me that this new product is 100% natural... well, I googled it when I got home - it had plenty of chemicals and preservatives. I understand most products do, but then she shouldn't have presented it otherwise to me, its just dishonest.
While I was quite annoyed with the experience I didn't make a fuzz over it, as I thought I wasn't paying much for it - $45.00. But as I learned since then $45.00 is considered an expensive hair cut in Colorado Springs area, and is considered on a pricey side even in Denver. So, looking back, I feel not only I got bad and dishonest service, but I was also ripped off.
Needless to say, I never went back. And I heard from my friend who recommended Arlene, that she stopped going to her as well. read more
