I had used MSO in Sweetgrass for the last 12 years but have recently had an issue which has made me change shipping outlets. Upon arriving to pick up one parcel was obviously empty but showed received at proper weight and size 16lbs. The owner 'Matt' had received the item in good condition and voided any shipping insurance. unfortunately he skirted around the issue and will know longer respond to my inquiries. Parcel was valued at 600.00 U.S. Just want to warn customers that this business will not take any responsibility for items going missing that they have received in good condition. I have used both shipping outlets but Eureka is on the way to family in Cranbrook, Matthew and staff are always more than accommodating, even waiting for me when I had a long wait to get through the border. They process thousands upon thousands of orders and the 40-50 times I have used them their services have been nothing short of remarkable! Great work Matthew and staff. Well this has been quite the learning experience...... Let me start out with Montana Shipping Outlet as a business, then I will talk about shipping in general to and bringing stuff back to Canada. lol Montana Shopping Outlet as a business concept is top drawer. What a fantastic idea to be able to have a US shipping address, and to simply pick up, at a very low rate, your packages across the border. I was excited to take advantage of this, since I purchase wholesale clothing for a business of mine, and shipping to canada is expensive, and clearing customs can be timely when items are being shipped. All great reasons to do this. How this concept works, is you register online to create a mailbox, and when items arrive, they email you, and you can drive down to the US to get your package. Simple enough! I actually thought the shipping outlet was a lot closer than it was. It turns out to be about a 5 hour ordeal each way. Clearing customs at the US Border is definately faster than a package getting stuck for days clearing. I can do the paperwork, walk in, pay my taxes on it, and then drive home. However, the reality is: Its a 10 hour day, mostly in the car. Also, I got charged a $25 surcharge on importing at the border because I was doing the transaction on a Saturday, instead of Monday to Friday (not Montana Shipping Outlet's fault), but be aware of this if you are importing goods for business and are doing it on your day off. All and all, I value the service, but it is at the expense of time. A 10 hour drive, plus surcharges on a Saturday at the border forces me to consider what it's worth not paying the extra shipping and time to Canada directly. read more

The Value Is Lost.' I've been going to this outlet for 5 years and the prices have more than doubled. Today, a package of compression socks and a gaiter sock in a second package that I paid $2.50 US for US postage each was elevated to a cost of $4.00 each additional from Montana shipping outlet. The combined shipping was over 30% of my product value. I confronted the clerk and he made a judgement call that this wasn't a standard envelope size so he had to charge me $4.00 instead of $2.00. There was no measuring tape used or any standards. All my shipping items where not worth the trip to the outlet from Canada. Too bad. They were reasonable before but I am looking at alternative arrangements. read more

Great service! With two locations (Sweet Grass and Eureka), Albertans have nice options to alternate between the two depending on your other plans. If you are making it a day trip just to drive, pick up and return, look at Sweet Grass at about 6 hour return trip from Calgary. If you want to use Eureka, make a weekend trip of it and head down to Whitefish/Flathead with a stop on the way to pick up your package. read more

Don't pay for next day air if your in desperate need of an item because it won't show up. i still don't know if shipping outlet or UPS dropped the ball but when you did everything correct and you end up stranded ten hours from home on Mother's Day weekend it ruins the weekend. read more

This Canadian loves the fact that we have Montana Shipping Company to fall back on when we want to order something from the US... They're just over an hours drive away. We don't have to worry about brokerage fees... For people on here that don't research how far it is from their house (Calgary to Montana...hello!!! A long way!) or people that complain that the delivery service didn't get the parcel to MSO in one day like you expected... obviously not MSO's fault... common sense is needed there.
