I could only find a little time, since I was walking and found this place randomly. On the ground floor there are amplifiers, radios and turntables, these people repair these artifacts. On the first floor are the records ... There is little space, it is not very large. Finding an album is a bit difficult for reduced space and the amount in each box. With regard to attention, it is not entirely friendly ... but what rescues the place is the amount of albums that can be found. I was here in 2016 but I will return in this 2023, maybe I can add more things. read more

As far as record stores are concerned, this one gets a passing grade from me. However, I found the overall set up to be incredibly cramped and not to be what I expected from the Parisian record store. Basically, there are two floors when you walk in. The bottom filled with equipment, the top stacked with vinyl. I'm not a big guy, but even for someone like me, it was difficult to maneuver through the maze. Of course, I perked up when I came across a rather large selections of the classics: Beatles, Stones, Neil Young, Bowie, etc. Even a few rarities found their way into my rolodex. But for the pressings, the prices didn't add up. I made my way to the contemporary section to find Foo Fighters, Soundgarden and Stone Temple Pilots. There just wasn't enough to hook me in. Overall, the experience was more of an inconvenience because of the tight space and disorganized set up. Ok. It's disorganized for sure. Shit stacked and hidden away. Hallways made of Records. Seems like there was an attempt to have some sort of structure long ago... and then that was abandoned. That said... if you dig you can find some original pressings and rare obscurities. The prices are high. But you can haggle a bit if you know what you're talking about. I just can't stand this records store. The store itself is upstairs, while a Hifi systems repair service is downstairs. Upstairs, the selection is huge but everything is overpriced. Want to pay 30 euros for Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, which can be found anywhere else for less than 10 bucks? There are very nice pieces for sure, but for a much higher price than that you'll find through Discogs. As for the repair service downstairs, what can I say? I bought a pick up for my vinyl player there, it cost me 35 euros and it looked NOS, like it was new but had stayed for years somewhere with the box covered from dust. It lasted a couple of months before dying. In the meantime, I had realized I could have found a new one for 20 euros at a music instruments store nearby. Should I say more? Avoid like plague. read more

STAY AWAY!!!! We spent more than 45 minutes here... The vinyl collection wasn't very interesting and overpriced. But the real story in in the basement... Believe me, I know the time. 12:35 We enter, downstairs is packed to the ceiling with vintage HiFi!!! This is heaven for my husband (and I). Paaaacked! Quads 33's, Thorens, Philips, Sony TTS... Packed with great stuff, no staff. So we go upstairs, fiddle thru the vinyl to find something good. We found zilch, nothing. It was overpriced, boring and nothing special. No collectibles or first pressings. 12:45 The guy in the basement is back! We walk down the stairs,wait for our turn. 12:50 The customer with a broken cdplayer talks to the owner and asks him (in French) if he should help us first. "No, these pele don't look like much..." My husband and I look at each other... We stay silent. 13:03 "Can I help you?" He asks s in French. My husband answers in French (take thàt, you f*cker..!!) and tells him he is interested in an amplifier for a cinema...he had one online, we would like to see it, it would go perfect with our vintage Siemens speakers....he doesn't answer, keeps working on the CD player. 13:05....I ask my husband if we can go,I can't stand bad service. 13:10 The customer is done, happy and leaves. We walk up to the counter, the owner starts talking, mumbling. "You are interested in the Philips? You know its very expensive, too expensive. It will cost you minimum €6000... "We are aware, we have a pretty nice collection with different set ups, different record players and amps in rooms." My husband said. The owner answered: "I have a few, they are all reserved for someone, not for you." Than the phone rings,he turns his back to us and picks up. Popped into Monster Melodies on a trip to Paris - was one of three stores I visited on limited time...and it was well worth the trip. Prices are on the higher end, but the selection is pretty solid. Not sure if the prices are typical of Europe in general, but they seemed high comparative to some of the other shops. Well, well organized by genre - seems daunting at first glance, but you can quickly find what you're looking for. Owner prefers cash, but doesn't seem to want to negotiate on price. I grabbed a few things I had mild interest in, but he was pretty firm on price. Even switching from credit to cash got me no discount. That's lame. The best. Their collection is huge and everything I checked out seemed very good or near mint minimum. I asked the guys if they carried a specific record (something I've been looking for for years) and one guy went in back and quickly came out with the record AND another (more rare) release by the same artist. I got talking to the owner (I think) about the work they're doing to introduce people to never-printed records by pressing records themselves. Super kind, dedicated people. Go here. read more

Very cramped but well organised shop. HOWEVER the prices are way above the prices you would see on Discogs (which I find a reasonably good indicator). They had some real rarities, but guys, get real...I found a 12' Single by Tanit (French Post Punk) Can an Actor Bleed. The most expensive one on Discogs sells for 50Euros, their was 80Euros, not negotiable. I did not buy it. Their prices are well above market prices. Too bad. read more

This store is so tightly packed with vinyl upstairs that I couldn't really even dig through the crates. Took a lot of physical pulling and tugging to get some of the records out of the shelves. I found one record to buy, but after that, I just gave up. Nice selection of bands. And I got into a nice conversation with one of the gentlemen that run the place. Neat audio repair and reselling business downstairs. Was fun to see all the units they have worked on which adorn the walls. Worth a stop when you are in Paris. Didn't even try to figure out the prices with exchange rate. A nice way to spend half an hour. But very very hard to find records you'd want to buy because it's so tightly packed. read more

I have had wonderful experiences in many Paris records shops...this was the exception. First, it was poorly organized and VERY difficult to move around due to the stacks of records piled in no discernible order. Second, the inventory was not very unique and there was no prices on the vinyl. Finally, it was difficult to tell who was working and where you could make a purchase. It almost seemed that no one was actually tending the shop among the mess. When I had visited this shop in late January, there was a camera crew in the upstairs, but no one had instructed me to leave or that I was potentially in the way. After browsing through the chaos for about 15 minutes, I was asked to exit the shop! It would have been nice to know right away...thanks for the pretty awkward experience. There are plenty of better records shops in Paris to spend money. read more
