This is the first time, I'm writing a 1-Star review.. But in L'Épicurier we experienced the worst…read moreservice that I ever had in a restaurant. We ordered the "Menu du Jour" which sounded actually pretty tempting. Unfortunately it was never served.. After waiting for more than 45 minutes we still haven't had a starter. As we asked the waitress, she confirmed that it will arrive any minute. After one hour - still no starter - we asked another waitress who told us that our order never arrived in the kitchen.. We left, paying 20 Euro for two glasses of mediocre Chablis and a bottle of water.. Without receiving an excuse whatsoever. A perfect example of a tourist trap. We should have known better.

I love this place for many reasons. First, the setting is absolutely lovely; it's right on the…read morewater in Port Grimaud which is so quaint. The interior is also very serene and perfect for a romantic dinner or for a meal with friends right out of a movie. If the weather is warm enough, many of the tables are right on the water. Second, the food is wonderful. I was in heaven- the pate was sublime as was everything else but I couldn't even see after each bite of the pate, it was so good. That might be me because I love pate. Also, you must go to the wash room as it is so nice. The owners are brother and sister and they are great hosts as well as decorators (did much of the work themselves). I couldn't get over the bathroom- the toilet seat was like nothing I had seen in the US and the tiles- sorry, I get excited about design features and getting to use a really nice bathroom is such a treat in a public space. Also, the location is all little canals, like a mini Venice in France complete with electric boats. It's a must see and must eat. I went twice it was so good. Also, definitely try the local specialty, Rose. And tell them I said hello.
