I took my car in because my husband said he noticed it shuddering when shifting gears. They kept it overnight and drove it three different times of the day to see if it acted up for them. They couldn't get it to act up at all. When I picked it up and asked how much I owed, they didn't charge me anything! They said they had to drive it anyway to see if they experience the same issue, so no charge. I fully expected a fee of some sort, so I was pleasantly surprised when they said "No Charge." I called Monroe to change my transmission fluid after Monroe was highly recommended by my BMW mechanic of the past several years (not just based on their reputation, but also by work they had done for him personally). When I called and asked for an estimate, they took my information and called me back within 10-15 minutes. We set up an appointment based on that call, and I dropped off the car and walked down to Panera Bread and hung out for the 2 1/2 hours they suggested, then walked back. The work was done, the car was test driven after the work by staff at Monroe, everything was pleasant, everyone seemed knowledgeable and professional, and what I was asked to pay matched the estimate I was given to the penny. I took my car into their shop Oct of 2018. Had them drain and refill Trans fluid???? Didn't drive much over the last 3 years only 9,00 miles or so. I called another shop to get a price to drain and fill with new trans fluid First of all they charged way more than quoted in another shop, and when I called twice to check on prices from them now? Guy on the phone put me on hold. So I went to another shop today , under 30 k miles for maintenance. They showed me the trans fluid! It was BLACK BLACK - Looked as though it had not been serviced at all or changed back in 2018! Shop said it should be maroon in color but not black Had to have it flushed twice , who knows if my transmission is ok ??? I will never go back there. read more

After having work done on my Toyota Camery because of a rattling noise, I was told by another shop I needed my transmission replaced at a cost of around 5 grand. I got a second opinion from Don & Dennis at Monroe Transmission, after test drive and check it was suggested I do a full service on my transmission for about 5 hundred dollars. Don seemed pretty sure, so I agreed, they discovered noise wasn't coming from transmission, and thought maybe catalytic converter might be the issue? And asked if I still wanted service ( they new I had unnecessary work done previously for the noise) I told them yes it needs it go ahead, while doing the service , Don checked my catalytic converter and found the heat shield was lose and making all the noise, he fixed it without charge and did a great job of servicing my transmission too!! No seal on my transmission after complete overhaul!!. WHO DOES THIS?..MONROE'S! It's M.Grant I paid $3,000 cash to Monroe's for my 01' Yukon XL (new transmission not a rebuilt!). NO SEAL WAS PLACED ON TRANNY! It was never repaired correctly and leaked from the day I picked it up until the day I had to sell it!. Our family Nissan Pathfinder developed a shudder which I feared was a symptom the transmission was failing... we had more than 150K miles. I took it in to the former Nissan dealer and spent $1500 correcting ignition issues... the shudder remained. In the past three years I have had Don and his staff at Monroe Transmission,Yuba City, service our two vehicles with great satisfaction. Installing a rebuilt transmission in our 2002 Camry and rebuilding my rear differential unit in my 1997 Dodge 1500 truck. In both cases they provided excellent service at a very fair price and in a timely manner. Now at their recommendations I have them service the transmissions on each vehicle with fresh fluid and change internal filters every 35-40 thousand miles. Don Monroe hands down is the best transmission expert I have seen. They worked on my 2003 dodge ram 3500 transmission and were able to fix the problem that others couldn't. I took the dodge to John L Sullivan and they charged me a diagnostic fee to tell me that i need a new transmission, which i knew was a lie. I took it to Monroe and they replaced the valve body and the transmission has been running like new. I highly recommend go see Don Monroe for any of your transmission needs. Thank You Don, you have earned my business for sure! P.S the first time i went to monroe, Don had made some adjustments and told me to drive it with the quick fix at no charge and if it didnt work to bring it back. It didnt fix the problem thats why I had to go back, but you dont see any good trustworthy mechanics like Don no more these days. I can't express just how amazing and awesome this place is. At the most scary moment, they were my heros (yes - uber sappy, but so very true). I could go into great detail, but I won't bore you with it all. Me and my two boys were moving from Washington state down to Deming, New Mexico when out of nowhere, my car started sputtering everytime I tried to accelerate. I limped along, asking one place after another for help. I was eventually directed to Don at Monroe Transmission. I could see that they were obviously busy, but was thrilled when they helped me anyways. And not only did they help me, but they fixed my problems (mind you - it wasn't even a transmission thing. But they helped me anyways; a bunch of different mechanics coming over to try and figure things out). If it weren't for this amazing shop, I have no clue what would have happened. I could have ruined my car further. Found a place that lied and just took my money, but never really fixing my problem. Who knows (thank God I didn't have to find out!) Don said over and over that he just wanted to get me on the road and safely to my destination. OH - and while I waited for them to fix it, Don's son drove us in their truck to a Burger King so that me & my boys could eat lunch and relax for a bit. I would like to thank the people at Monroe Transmission for their honesty. I brought in my 2003 Honda Civic yesterday because my son said the tranny was slipping at driving speed, and the check engine light was on. I made no appointment and they took it in any way saying they would call me back in the afternoon with a answer. They could have said "oh you need a new transmission". They called and said it was not my tranny, but code saying the timing was off. I had an issue with my Toyota pick up clunking and shuddering up every hill i took it on. I called and talked to Dennis, he was very helpful and reassuring that they could get it fixed in a very timely manner. I took the truck and dropped it after hours and left the keys in their drop box with my business card. They called me the next morning at 8 am sharp to check in with me and let me know that they got the truck and that they would have Don (the owner) road test it and see if they could figure out what was wrong. I am the kind of person that always prepares for the worst and was sure that there was something internally wrong; the truck had almost 200k miles on it and I drive it like I stole it. They called me back that same afternoon and said that they drove it, scanned it and found a misfire. They also said that they didn't think anything was wrong with the transmission and that I needed to change my spark plugs. I went and got the truck that night after work, drove to the auto parts store and got plugs, changed em and tested it. It seemed to be a lot better. I drove it to Red Bluff and through some pretty steep hills that weekend; my problem seems to be fixed. The best part was they were very polite and didn't take advantage of my mis-diagnosis. They also didn't charge me a dime and thanked me for bringing it to them. I now know exactly where I will be taking any vehicle for transmission repair. read more

They allowed us to spend the 1st night in their lot with our trailer. The next morning they towed us and the trailer out to Collins Lake since they needed one more day to finish the job.They treated us like family. These guys are awesome, highly recommend their superior mechanics over the competition in the yuba city area. I had a rear seal issue on a 4r70w transmission. The first time the seal popped out I replaced it... The second time, about 6 months later I had a competitor take a look... They didn't say anything about any causes... 3 months later it blows again... Took it back to compition and I directly asked them to look at the rear bushing that held the tail shaft drive in place... They took a look, said the tail shaft was wobbly and the bushing needed to be replaced... I already knew this.. That's why I asked them to take a look at it... They wanted to replace the entire transmission, or drop and split the transmission casing.... Fortunately I had already done my homework and knew this bushing can be replaced without splitting or dropping the transmission and it's only a 20 dollar part.... I took it in to Monroe's shop; these guys actually knew something about vehicles; i had my car back up and running in no time. Bottom line: if you need something worked on, these guys know their stuff, don't waste your time talkin to anyone else read more
