Well done re-creation of a gold mining village. They have a recreated bunk house and dining hall. The museum is small but quite thorough in it's presentation of history of gold mining in the area. Additionally, the park in which the museum is located is beautiful. I believe that the mining museum and park is both a beautiful Stafford County gem and an unusual place to visit. The fact that it's free adds to it's appeal. I'd recommend it. If you're planning a site seeing trip in the Stafford/Fredericksburg area, it is worth taking the time to visit the Gold Mining Camp Museum. They rely on donations for maintenance and to keep the museum up and running. While you're there please consider making a donation to keep this unique, accurate and special museum available for all. (I did not take pictures while there but will try to go back, take some and post them since I live nearby, if my post can be modified.) read more
