I've been going to Monokian in Haddonfield ever since they opened their office there. I currently live in Philadelphia but still travel to Haddonfield because the entire staff of doctors, hygienists and office personnel are awesome. They have every piece of the latest equipment and the expertise to get the most out of it. I've had experience with three of the doctors and they always explain everything completely and concisely. I always have some questions that aren't really important, but they get answered in the same, professional way. Vanessa, my hygienist is top notch, thorough, and very pleasant. I had gone here for years before they became Monokian. The previous practice was wonderful (all but one of the positive reviews here are from when it was that different practice), but the new practice has nothing to do with the old and they do not offer quality care. Short version is that I had a dental procedure here where poor work on the dentist's part led to pain that they were then unable to diagnose even though another local dentist quickly did and fixed the problem that same visit. Long version: I had a cavity which the dentist at Monokian overfilled which interfered with my bite and caused pain; I was concerned at the time because he had to cut through the filling with a small dental knife because the very large filling spread between two teeth, which seemed weird. I went back to Monokian to figure out what was causing the pain and they said nothing was wrong. I went to another local dentist who quickly diagnosed and fixed the issue by filing the excess filling down (this was months ago and the pain immediately went away and stayed away after the visit with a different dentist so I know that the problem is really fixed). Meanwhile, the front desk had misquoted me for the cost of the filling originally. When I expressed that, I was promised a call to explain the extra charges. That never came and the follow up from front desk staff was rude. My family members who had also gone to this dentist before it became Monokian all separately had bad experiences and at this point all 4 of us have switched dentists, which is a bad sign in and of itself. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Mayher twice a year for as long as I can remember. This is a little office just off the main street in Haddonfield, with ample parking on the street and a lot in the back. The staff here is great and friendly. They are usually pretty quick and always very efficient. I have never had to wait very long for any appointment. One of their newer features, which I love, is to text reminders about upcoming appointments and when you are due for another cleaning. Besides Dr. Mayher, I have also seen Dr. Pera here who is also great. Both are very professional and social. Even though a lot of people do not enjoy going to the dentist's- this office makes it as least painful (and enjoyable) as a process as it can be from scheduling an appointment to seeing the dental hygienist/dentist to checking out at the end. read more

I've been a patient here for more than 10 years, and have to say I think Dr. Mayher is as good as it gets. The office staff is extremely friendly, they offer convenient appointment times, and you even get text-message reminders the day of your appointment - it all makes going to the dentist pretty painless. Dr. Mayher himself is a great guy - he has that calm voice that you want from someone who's taking care of you. He's also a recognized leader in dentistry - he teaches at UPenn, provides free care for the disabled, and helped to identify people by their dental records after 9/11. read more

I had dental work done here on two teeth where I paid $4k out of pocket and was told at my last appointment when the work was completed that I was paid in full. Months pass and I receive a surprise bill for $1900 more. I called Monokian Dentistry twice thinking this was a mistake and both times I was told they would look into it and call me back. I never got a call back explaining anything but I received a voicemail telling me it was a "courtesy" call regarding the amount owed. I expressed my confusion & disappointment and they told me the original out of pocket cost that I was quoted was just an "estimate" This is obviously unethical. I can't imagine many people would agree to services knowing they may owe an undisclosed amount somewhere down the line. Also - $6,000.00 for work on two teeth is obviously extremely overpriced. It's one thing to charge more but it's another to be unethical. I was forced to go ahead and pay the remaining balance out of fear of my credit score being affected. Dr Mayher has taken great care of my teeth for (sad to say) several decades, and I have had nothing but good experiences from cleanings to root canals, Yeah I know, Yuck! To give a dentist 5 stars---well, he MUST be good! I was referred to Dr Mayher by a co-worker and it was one of the best moves I ever made. I have had to get a few fillings done and in all the many years I have gotten fillings, this was the only office where I can honestly say, it was pain free.
