There is, in a forgotten corner of Toledo, a building painted a green so vivid it should be…read moreimpossible to overlook -- and yet, somehow, the eye refuses to register it. This is one of the small, terrible cruelties of modern life. Inside this easily overlooked structure lives the Phoenix Earth Food Co-Op, where a small and lovely group of people attempt the nearly impossible task of living carefully in a world that punishes care. The shelves are clean. The lights are honest. The vegetables have come from soil that someone, somewhere, still loves. Here, briefly, the indifferent machinery of industrial food is held at bay by the careful arrangement of dried lentils. I urge you to find it. The difficulty of finding it is part of its meaning. What is worth knowing in this life is almost always hidden in plain sight -- and we walk past, and we do not see.

The neighborhood feels sketchy and I couldn't tell where to park; also, the staff could've been more knowledgeable - it was apparent the manager just hired someone to man the register, but who is clearly not a natural foods convert herself.

I see negative posts from people thousands of miles away, who know nothing about this store. I will continue to patronize Monette's, as I know this store serves everyone and treats everyone with respect and care. The staff is pleasant and helpful, and we need to support locally owned stores like Monette's. Whatever the owner said on FB, he's apologized for, so let's review the store, not comment on what the owner said. He who is without fault, cast the first stone.

Best basil and cilantro in town. I refuse to buy my herbs from anywhere else!…read more When I first started buying from them it was just for produce. I quickly found out that they sell tons of sanitation products as well as paper and plastic goods. You do need a quarter to access a grocery cart... unless you're lucky enough to be the beneficiary of someone handing off a discarded cart. It's just a quarter but builds so much good will in paying it forward... Definitely a thing that is growing and I love being part of it!

The cashier lanes were moving efficiently. The quarter for a cart thing is still weird to me and I left mine in the cart like always. What bothered me was as I loaded my cart with two cases of three different kinds of cereal nothing was said to me. There was an employee right there talking with me. When I went to pay for my purchase the young man told me to get in his line well he opened it. That's when the manager came up to the employee, not me and told him I could not purchase no more than six boxes per kind. I said there was no sign that limited to ones purchase. That's when in a cold response he said the store has the right to limit quantities. I said who the purchase was for and since my cart was already loaded if I could purchase what I had. He answered with a stern NO. The young man at the register said he would put the cereal back. I don't think it would bother if they would post a sign on limits, they do for eggs. My I add I did not deplete their quantity on the shelve. My warning to you is if your going to purchase a large quantity you better check first. As I got ready to leave there was a lady doing the same thing and I told her you better check first. I still shop at Aldi's but with a far different out look.

Let me say, the portions are enormous! When I saw they wanted four dollars for a taco I was a bit…read moreoutraged, then the taco came to the table and it was not your average street taco. My sister-in-law and I shared a fried burrito with Al Pastor in it. The shit was fire! They make their own hot sauces in house. The waitress brought a creamy habanero sauce to the table that was still warm. Mad respect for that. It was delicious, but hot as hell. This place is a 12 year-old boys dream. It has such a cool nacho Libre vibe. I would've given it five stars except for a few small details. I really wish you could give 4.5. It just wasn't quite at that five star level. For me a five star level means all the food is executed. Well, the service is impeccable, the place is clean, and it's a good overall experience. There was nothing bad about this by any means. But it just wasn't quite five stars. The queso is not good. It has a decent flavor, but it is super watery. I also don't like that none of their giant burritos come automatically with rice and beans. If I am ordering a $14 burrito even if it's huge, it should really come with rice and beans. Also, I wish they had a few more appetizer options like Mexican street corn. While they did have some nachos, a few basic dips and some Ramen, I just feel like they could do a little more on the appetizer front. My sister-in-law and I split a burrito and usually what I would do is get an appetizer for us to share as well and there just wasn't anything. I will argue to the death. That queso is not an appetizer. It is a condiment. A delicious condiment. Like I said... 4.5 stars for this place the waitress was very helpful. I also wish you could mix and match three tacos for $12 or something like that and I also wish they had some happy hour drink specials.

We always go to Los Agaves but sometimes we feel like we should broaden our Mexican food horizons…read more We stopped in here one morning in search of huevos con chorizo and figured any Mexican restaurant open before noon should offer it. Wrong! While El Arena DOES have a breakfast menu, they do not offer huevos con chorizo. We asked if we could order it off and there seemed to be confusion. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito instead. It was delicious and something I would definitely order again. The decor inside was fantastic and I loved looking at all the luchador art work. The restaurant wasn't busy at all. I was a little annoyed because I asked for coffee - it's on the menu - and I was told they didn't have any. My only complaint. Well that and the paper lined trays to serve food. That always irritates me because it never fails to cut into your food and cut paper with it.
