If your type is big, strong and handsome [BUILDINGS!], Full Frame Theater's Boiler Room has YOUR name all over it (him? her?). This incredible space welcomes guests entering Full Frame Theater, as well as sometimes its neighbor, The Power Plant Gallery. It's a VERY unique event venue flanked by mammoth coal-fired boilers that were used in the original building. You can admire the elevator shaft to the right of the front door, or envision the unseen inside (but very visible outside) base of the Lucky Strike smokestack which The Boiler Room "horeshoes" around. Enormous windows, concrete floors and brick walls give this space the perfect impression for any event [can I plan my next birthday party here?!] No space has ever scream contemporary meets historic so clearly! Plus, doors are open 9am-midnight, SEVEN days a week, so there truly is no reason to miss this drool-worthy space. Secret tip: it's air-conditioned and they've got tall-topped tables and chairs inside along the massive windows. This would be the perfect get-away from the office or {indoor} picnic lunch spot.

The team provided excellent customer service prior to the event, answering all our questions and working with us and our caterers to make sure the event went well. If your looking for a nice clean event space in Durham downtown, check them out. I attended an event through yelp here and had a blast. It was clean, tidy and super stocked with amazing wines. The event was great. It's always a pleasure to meet up with old yelp friends and meet new yelp friends! During this event I noticed they had so many amazing drinks to pull from. The bartender and staff working were super cool. There was live music as well as vendors from around the triangle. Shout out to the guitarist who was jamming to all of the latest tunes. Parking was a struggle so we ended up at a meter which wasn't that far of a walk. There is a parking garage directly across the street so you may want to check that out if you experience parking struggles. The ambiance and decor was great for the facility. The shelves were stocked and super neat. 5stars!

From the moment we walked up we were treated by security and friendly community managers. A chalk portrait dedicated to the autumn season was being constructed and once you walked inside the venue, you were greeted by a huge selection of wine and cool ambiance. The local music was great! I loved the cool, acoustic guitar playing in the lounge space. We received tons of yelp goodies! These goodies were perfect for the upcoming storm we have. This was a great event highlighting local restaurants and catering businesses and flight breweries. I hope to see one like this in the Raleigh area.

Duke Gardens is definitely one of the most beautiful gardens in Durham, if not the Triangle. Open…read morefrom dawn to dusk, it's welcoming to all. The best time of year to go in my opinion is during the Spring and especially during the Cherry Blossom season, which only lasts less than a week if not that. During that time, it can be super duper crowded, with people everywhere trying to get the perfect profile pic and/or selfie in. Weddings are held here and they have a beautiful area for it, along with a pond with lily pads. I have friends who have gotten engaged here, although if you're a professional photographer, you need to have permission. During the summer, they have a summer concert series on the lawn and it's so much fun. My friends I would bring snacks, wine, coolers and picnic blankets. Partaking in those concerts was one of the most fun parts of my summers, so nostalgic. Parking is a bit much (as it's sometimes hard to snag) but there are a few overflow lots to accommodate. One of my favorite parts of Duke Gardens it that you can also access Duke Campus across the road, and see the lovely Duke Chapel, and its beautiful cathedral. Once done, you can re-enter the Gardens and continue your trail. Such a lovely stroll. Once you cross the red bridge, you can also find your way to the farm, where there are animals, vegetation and lots of vegetables and herbs in a sweet garden. You can't really get too lost at Duke Gardens which I appreciate. Just keep going and eventually you will find your way back to the main fountain. Enjoy!

The gardens are especially notable for their beautiful Japanese-themed areas, featuring an abundance of Japanese Maples and even Fuyu persimmons, which I would have loved to pick if they weren't so high up (maybe next time!). There are numerous pathways for strolling, and the gardens regularly host events such as weddings, educational programs, and seasonal festivals. Visitors can enjoy both formal, carefully curated landscapes like the Historic Gardens, as well as informal, naturalized areas that resemble a backyard wildlife garden, perfect for relaxing, taking photos, or simply enjoying a peaceful retreat from the busy world. Overall, Duke Gardens is a must-visit for anyone in the area, an accessible, beautiful, and educational space that offers a tranquil escape and a chance to connect with nature.

We checked in at 5pm. Our room wasn't ready?! They had no idea how much more time they needed. Disappointing. My husband asked for another room and there weren't any. They were very busy with a college sorority reunion. We were given free breakfast for the next morning. My husband and I asked for the room key and we went on to our evening activities without freshening up and leaving our bags. When we returned after 8pm our room was ready. Clean. Fine. TV not working. NO internet and the telephone to call front desk wasn't working. My husband went down to front desk and someone came to room and fixed tv. Internet was turned on. Employees friendly. Beautiful hotel. We paid 8.00 to park in their big parking lot. We weren't charged that the first time. Snuck that fee in... We had a flexible schedule this time. We probably will stay somewhere else next time. The hidden fees and attention to details is not what it should be for the cost to stay here.
