There's a whole video of her throwing a tantrum before her husband the general manager made his threat.
    Andy P.

In today's climate I shouldn't be surprised that the GENERAL MANAGER of the bar told me to "sit down and shut up if you know what's good for you". Now, I've been to this tavern at least ten times and have never had an incident. I will say that Billy and the rest of the staff are extremely amazing and accommodating. However, it doesn't matter if the general manager is rude, disrespectful, and making threats. Along with his belligerently drunk wife who was taped shadow boxing the air. Again, maybe if I wasn't a woman of color the threat of "or else" wouldn't have been made. However, in no way is it excusable. I wish I could say I would be back but I won't. I'll also make it a point to warn other poc that there's a chance a threat may be made by the general manager. What's also unfortunate was bringing along people in which one felt extremely uncomfortable in the establishment and left feeling he was right that people of color are not welcomed there. I hope in the future this problem is remedied.

I'm gonna give this sweet little dive 5 stars cuz even though it's a dive bar - they checked off all the boxes for me - 1) Customer service. Check. Katrina, the manager, blasted me with a warm friendly greeting as soon as I hit the door. She offered me advice about the top crowd-pleaser-menu items because she knew I was a newbie. While waiting, I was able to observe that this family run spot truly knows their regulars - greeting every one of them by name: Katrina tossed her wavy blonde hair, smiled and focused her Egyptian style kohl lined eyes on every customer that walked thru the door and greeted them by name. She also made sure I knew about the daily $7.95 lunch special. After a few moments I headed out to my car to make a phone call and she even came outside to let me know that my order was ready. I also met Katrina's Mom while I waited and she was super friendly and welcoming too. 2) Dog friendly. Check. They have an outdoor patio area so that Gizmo can tag along. As I fall more and more in love with my sweet little Pom, I find myself eschewing places who do not have a place for him too. Lol. 3) Open late. Check. Self explanatory. Since I go to bed at 8am - I loooove places that are open late. 4) Great food. Double check. I had the grouper fingers and they were deeeelicious. Katrina asked me if I wanted them fried blackened or grilled and of course I chose fried. I opted for a salad instead of fries and was surprised and pleased to see mushrooms on my salad. I was a little bummed to see iceberg lettuce but I got over it fairly quickly. Lol. I'll be back - with the SO and Gizmo in tow!

Best dive bar in Marietta. Little bit of Cheers for the south. Never felt more comfortable in a bar before.

Dive bar. Nice folks. Good food. Good pour. Get you some Marlboros and come on over. Or just buy them from the cig machine.

I visited the Marietta Melt Yard specifically for their bread pudding and the pinball…read more I didn't realize it was a "Taylor Swift engagement party" pop-up and a pinball tournament. Both things I felt worked against my overall experience because I'm not a Swifty, there were a lot of kids, and not all the pinball games were up for play because of the tournament. Despite not getting to play all the pinball we did play 4 machines. Most of the games are tucked into a back room. However there are 2 games sitting out behind the bar - Toy Story and The Flintstones. We picked up the bread pudding to go because we had some other things to do. It was warm, and tasted like peach cobbler. Definitely some of the best bread pudding I have had. I'm going to have to go back and enjoy some there with the ice cream and whipped cream. With bread pudding and pinball I'm sure I'll be back.

Unfortunately, as someone who has eaten burgers all over the world the Trucker Burger was disappointing on many levels. First of all, it felt like a misleading description to describe the burger as having two "smash patties". These were definitely not smash patties under the traditional definition in my opinion. The bun was good, but the burger patties themselves were far too plump, lacked bounce, had no caramelization in the edges and were not juicy on the inside. It tasted like a burger you'd find at your neighbor's backyard BBQ with a general lack of flavor and course texture like the lean to fat ratio was off and the burger was cooked on too low a temperature. The staff was very friendly and the food came out quickly. Unfortunately, the burger was a let down and extremely overpriced. You're better off going to a fast casual spot like Freddy's where you can get a great smash burger for much less.

The standout for me was easily the jerk chicken eggrolls. They were packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and had just the right amount of heat. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, they were one of those appetizers you end up wishing you had ordered two of. If you're looking for a chill spot to grab drinks, catch a vibe, and enjoy some good food, Bar 44 is definitely worth a visit. I'll be back for those eggrolls alone.

Upon selecting our own seating, we were informed that they were NOT serving brunch and they were out of eggrolls. Additionally, our server is stuck in traffic, so we have to wait until her arrival. While waiting for our server to arrive, we were "entertained" by an unaccompanied child a few times. There were 6 women in our party. All enjoyed their food and drinks (which were strong). I ordered the Rasta Pasta with no protein. I wanted to order the Cajun Pasta with Vegetables but was informed by the server that they don't really have vegetables and that she does not recommend that order. I appreciated the honesty. The Rasta Pasta was good - B+. When we finished our meal, we requested little plates to serve the birthday cake. We were brought plates. Shortly after, to our surprise, the other party that was there had a birthday song along with sign and sparklers presented to their table. Our table did not receive that treatment. I asked our server why we didn't get that treatment, she stated because they had their cake stored in their kitchen. This was an unacceptable response. Our server was well aware of our table's birthday celebration as she commented on the cake when she first arrived and asked whose birthday it was. To receive no acknowledgment felt very disrespectful. To add insult to injury, the other party was an all-white crew, while my party was an all-black crew. The food and drinks were good. However, the poor service and accommodations, lack of brunch and acknowledgment for our birthday girl, has made my decision to never return.
