BSI has unfortunately gone downhill since it was sold by Dr. Berman a few years ago…read more I have received PDL for a birth mark and laser hair removal. I also had a consult for Botox injection but they never followed up with me. Dr. Chok is very conservative when it comes to laser strength so I saw no results under her care, which was frustrating. Dr. Berman used to be great. Their phone number goes straight to South Africa, and they don't know what they are doing. It's very difficult to get in touch with the local office. If you can find the same service from a different provider, I recommend going elsewhere. The only positive is that they do take insurance. Getting them to follow up is impossible though - you need to keep calling and stay on top of them.

I am writing this review to warn others about the unprofessional behavior at Berman Skin Institute…read moreand Dr Kourosh Kojouri specifically at the Los Altos location. I visited this doctor for an out of pocket cosmetic treatment for spider veins under my eyes on 12/30/25 with a follow up visit on 2/2/26. The initial treatment was unsuccessful but I did agree to a 2nd try on 2/3/26. Dr. Kojouri became insulting and verbally abusive (called me disrespectful) and walked out of the room without performing the procedure. Per the State of California Medical Board this was abandonment of care (I have filed an official complaint with this state board). Even worse I was charged out of pocket for this unpleasant experience. I filed a dispute with my credit card company (Citibank) and the dispute was ruled in my favor. After questioning the details of this transaction I was told that the Berman Skin Institute did not refund my money; the adjustment was from the credit card company itself. It is disillusioning that a respected medical practice acts in this unprofessional manner and does not take financial responsibility. I advise others to avoid Berman Skin Institute and Dr. Kojouri for the above stated reasons.

Dr. De Coninck is a wonderful doctor and I would full heartedly recommend her!…read more She is extremely pleasant, knowledgeable and attentive. Unfortunately, the only problem that makes it hard to see her is the amount of patients and the lack of dermatologists in PAMF, causing scheduling an appointment with her to takes about 5 - 6 months.

Dr. DeConinck is the best! I've been going to Dr. DeConinck since 2007 & she has helped me through…read moreevery stage of my early middle school days all the way to my early 20's. Dr. DeConinck is knowledgeable, friendly, honest, & will give you the medical terms & terms that are more understandable as well. I've been going to Dr. DeConinck for so long because you know what? There is not just a quick fix for acne. If there was, that would be odd & probably not healthy. In the beginning I tried Proactive, Differin, antibiotics, seaweed mixtures, Obaji, & so many products. Dr. DeConinck did not give up on me! I'm glad she was attentive & always knew what I had tried, for how long, what I did & did not like & what I should try next. Finally she suggested Accutane. I was excited but nervous since it's such a powerful medication. So I decided in 2009 to give it a go! I've had horrible acne since I was in 3rd grade & had to change school multiple times; 6 times to be exact from 3rd to 12th grade. I could not stand being bullied. Accutane saved me! I had acne everywhere! :( The only con I could say Accutane has is if you're a female since you need to go through extra precautions ect. & lab tests every month & appointments every month. But 4 sessions of Accutane later I'm acne free (knock on wood) & I'm much happier now! Side note: People think & say that Accutane causes suicidal thoughts ect. I would disagree! The 2-3 month of Accutane your acne does get worse, like horrifically worse but then clears up. I think during that time users think they will never get better & then they get depressed. Dr. DeConinck can be pretty busy sometimes & it's hard to get an appointment but keep that appointment & let her help you. She's the best & you will have radiant healthy skin that lasts.

WARNING! Do NOT trust this incompetent dermatologist with your skin!…read moreI beg you, please, DO NOT go to this terrible doctor for your skin problems. Seeing him was the worst decision of my life, and it completely ruined my skin. In June 2024, I developed contact dermatitis and made the mistake of seeing this doctor. If I could turn back time, I would never have gone to him, no matter how desperate I was. There were already tons of bad reviews about him, but since he was the only one available quickly, I took the risk--and I regret it every single day. Why is he incompetent? 1 Reckless treatment for sensitive skin - If you have very sensitive skin, a competent doctor would usually recommend products for sensitive skin or advise you to stop using anything until your skin improves. But instead, this doctor gave me a bunch of product samples without considering my skin condition. - I trusted him and used the products he gave me--my skin had a severe reaction, and it has never recovered since. I am still undergoing treatment at a major hospital, and I have spent an enormous amount of money trying to fix what he did to my skin. 2 Misdiagnosis and harmful advice - After experiencing a severe reaction from his recommended product, my skin started peeling. When I went back to him, he completely misdiagnosed the issue and told me my skin was just very dry and that I needed to keep trying different products. - I followed his advice and kept trying new products, but my skin only became more and more sensitive until it refused to tolerate ANY products at all. - Eventually, I saw another dermatologist--they immediately recognized that my skin issue was simply my sunscreen pilling and told me to stop using all products. If only I had seen a real expert sooner! This doctor destroyed my skin, and I will never be able to go back to how it was before. Can you imagine? As a woman, not being able to wear makeup ever again? I haven't been able to apply any moisturizer or sunscreen for 7 months. I don't even know if I'll ever be able to wear makeup again. I am beyond devastated. Because of him, I have spent so much money, suffered mentally, and have been battling depression since June 2024. Who is going to take responsibility for this? I want to sue him for ruining my life. If you care about your skin, especially as a woman, STAY AWAY from this doctor. I am warning you--DO NOT make the same mistake I did.

Since September 2019, I have been going to Dr. Anhalt's from time to time. First, I came for a…read moresecond opinion for itching and redness that I could not get under control with creams prescribed at PAMF. Dr. Anhalt diagnosed me with eczema and eventually prescribed two creams, one for the neck and down and the other for the face (above the neck). Dr. Anhalt's prescriptions allowed me to finally obtain relief. It was huge for me because before, the discomfort would flare up as soon as I went to bed, and I could not sleep. I had enough of sleep difficulties stemming from other conditions to have, on top of them, an itch that would not go away. I am so grateful to Dr. Anhalt. He also took the time to educate me on the proper use of steroids and the safe duration of their use so that I would obtain not just short-term relief but freedom from flare-ups for many months at a stretch. I still get flare-ups, but now they come infrequently (once a year - about that often), usually triggered by stress, and I have an arsenal of tools at home to nip the problem in the bud quickly. I always take the creams Dr Anhalt prescribed on trips, just in case. I have never had a flare-up during a trip, which is probably because I am so well-prepared. So that is about the treatment of my skin condition. But my gratitude for Dr Anhalt stretches further. He did sclerotherapy for me ONCE, several years ago, and eliminated all unsightly spider veins behind my knees. ONE and DONE. I have recommended this procedure to women in one of my Facebook groups that has members across the world as an example of its effectiveness and provided pictures of my legs from behind. They could not believe that I used to have veins there. And the thing is, I had had veins under the knees and had had them since middle school (!). And now, all gone. For me, it is very important to have smooth skin on the back side of my legs, and it gives me confidence everywhere: in the bedroom, in the gym, wearing bike shorts, and stepping out in knee-length midi skirts or A-line dresses. Dr Anhalt was not the first one to do sclerotherapy for me. Prior to him, I had had it done at a med spa. Several times, once a year. I was told that this procedure needed upkeep at least once a year. And I was told that I did not need to wear compression stockings afterward. Dr. Anhalt, citing research, insisted that I wear compression stockings after the procedure, day and night, without taking them off. He directed me to a store for disability-related products to buy the stockings. It was uncomfortable in them but well worth it - they made the outcome so much better, and I do NOT need upkeep procedures. In fact, Dr Anhalt was surprised when I asked initially when I would need to have it done again. "Never", he said. And so far, so good - no complaints. I could not quite believe the difference - this doctor charged me less (!) than at the med spa and eliminated the problem once and for all, ensuring I followed the uncomfortable but necessary research-based protocol. At the med spa, they were essentially milking me for money yearly via first "allowing me" to be comfortable (they cited their own research which ostensibly proved that with or without compression stockings did not matter) and this way also making sure that I would then need to come again. Had I not seen Dr. Anhalt for this procedure, I would have continued to increase the med spa's profit margins and wasted my time doing repeat procedures when one, done correctly, was all that I needed. Now that I have come back to Yelp to update my review based on my own experience, I have scanned negative reviews, and my jaw dropped. Dr. Anhalt is the funniest, kindest, effervescently brilliant man and an asset to our local patient community for medical care and cosmetic needs.
