Mongo's is one of my favorite places to eat when in Dusseldorf. It is almost always on my "must hit" list. The single biggest "wow" factor for me is just that this is so different from typical restaurants in the area. The flavors and spices are such a nice change from German, French, and Italian fare. If you are accustomed to a spicy diet and growing tired of the normally bland food in Dusseldorf, suggest giving Mongos a try. In addition to choosing one of 8 or so different sauces for your BBQ, Mongos has a large and very fresh selection of ingredients. Lots of different veggies, peppers, garlic, and then there are the meats. They have normal meats, such as pork, chicken, beef, and several exotic meats that seem to change over time. E.g. Zebra, ostrich, etc. The other thing I like is the more recent menu option to pay by the weight of ingredients you choose. Mongos still has the fixed price all-you-can-eat menu option, but for lighter eaters it is really nice to have the pay-for-what-you-eat choice. read more

Food quality is good, price is not huge and it is funny to have dinner there. If you take the buffet option, you fill a bol with as much food as you can, vegs, meat, fish, all good quality, and topped with a very tasteful and nice sauce. I recommend you to come but make a reservation in advance, otherwise, no way to get a table. Good service and friendly waitstaff is about the best thing that can be said about this place. I've eaten far better mongolian style barbecue for much less. The meats were too thinly sliced and too quickly cooked for them to get any taste, and the same can be said about the fish. Good variety only gets you so far, taste is the reason you go to a restaurant, and you should not go to this one. read more

Agreed with everyone's comments on the great service. The staff worked well together making sure everyone was well taken care of. The food was excellent. I have had a lot of Mongolian grill in the US and would say this is as good or better than many. The variety of proteins is impressive. The Zebra was very good. Didn't try the Ostrich. Also lots of fish choices. Prices seemed reasonable given the tasty food, ambience and great service. Will be back next time I am here. read more
