Unfortunately, this has got to be a 1 Star Review. After…read morerepeated incidents with awful customer service, unhelpful phone support, and shady practices, I feel that I wish I would have had a heads-up when I was searching for a local bank. The Banking Industry's sketchy practices with Overdraft Fees has been in the news recently. Here's a FirstHand account of FirstBank's lack of any ethical business practice. So. Aside from the rude, confrontational, unhelpful customer service agents, which really is enough to make me switch banks, there are their shady practices. Over a weekend, especially a Monday-Holiday weekend, it's natural for charges to pile up. What is NOT in any way ethical or moral is for a bank to, on the day that they ALL clear, choose to clear one large charge FIRST (Even though, in reality, it was made LAST) so that they can charge you MORE Overdraft Fees. Specifically: 5 charges were made. 4 of them were made 3 days prior to the last charge, which, because of a miscalculation on MY part, would have pushed the account into Overdraft status. Fine, my oops. I'll pay that fee. NOT IF YOU BANK AT FIRST BANK! If you bank at First Bank you'll pay FIVE OVERDRAFT FEES. That's right. FIVE. Even though, on THEIR statement, the purchases that they cleared AFTER and charged OVERDRAFT FEES on are dated BEFORE the purchase they cleared FIRST. Clearly a shady, underhanded way of getting more money into their greedy little bank hands. When I called phone support and explained the dilemma, I got a mini-lecture, filled with rudeness, condescention, confrontation, and not a single apology. Not even a PHONY one! When I asked for her supervisor, naturally she connected me to *A* supervisor... just not her's. I explained the situation to THAT supervisor, (NICELY!) and it was like pulling teeth to even get him to admit that their practice could even APPEAR to be unethical to a customer. I did eventually get him to pony up THREE of the FIVE overdraft fees, but that's not enough. It's not about the one fee they still owe me, it's the principle of keeping MY money with a company that is so blatantly immoral. Nope. Taking my money OUT!

they have very extended periods for holding onto my money when I make a deposit. So I must continue…read moreto work with them to make another appraisal. these days, with fast deposits, a 10 business day hold on my money is ridiculous. they need to remember- it is MY money, not theirs. I wish they would not take that for granted.
