Fast forward to April of 2024 I receive a notice from the IRS that they never received our 2020 return. I immediately contacted Welch's and requested our return be filed. I have contacted them 7 times and spoke with numerous people, gave my email, confirmed the mailing address, and my return still hasn't been received. I called today and the phone just rings and rings. Extremely disappointing customer service - I would not recommend them.

So I decided to get them done by someone else for a change! This location is fairly close so I have them a call and explain my situation. I was able to easily set up a time to do my taxes the next day. So I brought everything I needed and handed it over. The things I couldn't bring in paper form I had ready in my email. The tax preparer gave me his card with email address to forward that information to him. He asked me a few clarification questions throughout the process which is normal. Then in about an hour my complicated mess was solved and filed! He upsold me a $40 "peace of mind" guarantee and that added with the tax preparation was fairly pricey. But at least for this year I'm glad it's finally over with and was very convenient. I'd probably do it again but I'll leave that decision for next year! :)

They did not realize there was a cap on the loan size for deductible mortgage loan interest and therefore we claimed much higher deductible loan interest than we should have which resulted in the nice letter from the IRS. Now, we are looking for a new tax professional to assist us with filing an amended return. Please note that the individuals at PMC are not CPA's. They are tax preparers. As noted, the service was fine until they made a mistake.
