One day years ago my cousin came by my place looking sharp. So I asked him where he got his cut-- and I've been going to see Mone ever since. Old school barber shop feel with a great look every time. Walk in or give the man a call and he'll save you a spot. His price is so reasonable you can tip well and leave there feeling like a king. Just do it. read more

Worse haircut experience ever! It was my first time at this barbershop and Mone was so rude. He was rushing me as I was trying to explain what type of cut I was looking for, supposedly he had somewhere else to be. He was so rough on my head that he even made me bleed. Despite my warnings to be gentle. And he Never apologized. He also shaved off my beard Completely without even asking, even though I said I just wanted to line it up. I'm never getting my haircut here again! read more

Great haircut, affordable, didn't have to wait long as a walk in, parking was easy. Definitely coming back, thank you!

I guess I'm going to be the nay-sayer, and give a testimony of my experience at Newbill Barbership AKA "Mone the Barber". I'll preface by saying that my haircut didn't turn out horrible, but one that didn't envision coming out of the session. To get a "5 star" in my book, you have to be EXCEPTIONAL (service, quality, outcome). I'm actually only giving 3 stars for the outcome because I was "okay" with the end product. Pros - Style - You can tell from the photos that all of the haircuts more or less look the same. If you want to leave Mone looking like one of the pictures shown on the Yelp, then this place is for you. His style is catered to a "one size fits all" crowd, that doesn't really cut it if you're looking for something else. But hey, I got one of these cuts and I can't say it's all that bad. Mone has mastered this style of haircut. - Availability - There is a lot of availability on weekdays, so Mone was able to fit me into his schedule quite easily @ 1:45PM on Wednesday afternoon. Shoot, I even walked in at 1:25PM, and he was already available to cut my hair. Cons - Price - For $40 (which is $5 more than what I was expecting given the reviews), I could go to a fit-fab salon in Downtown LA, or a snazzy men's barbershop in the SF Financial District with someone who takes the time to listen to EXACTLY how I want the cut to be. I definitely was NOT expecting to pay $40 for a bare bones establishment, where the nylon covers smelled like mildew. Additionally, I was cut short $1 because he ran out of $1 bills. When I asked for my exact change, the response was, "That's all I have". Not very prepared. - Work-in-Progress - I don't think I've ever sat facing away from the mirror for the entire duration of the haircut. I couldn't see what how the haircut was progressing for the entire 45 minutes, and was clutching my hands together in anticipation that I wasn't going to turn around to see that I look like Krusty the Clown. Not good at all. I think it's necessary for the customer to give feedback throughout the session, and I didn't feel like I had the opportunity. - Friendliness - I can't say this was a COMPLETE con, but I would expect that barbers would try to build rapport with future clients. All I got was a "hi, are you Scott?", a little bit of 3 minutes on his phone while I twiddled my thumbs, and a "are you happy?" at the end. I've read the other reviews, and that's NOT the experience I got. All in all, come here if you want to get a haircut like those in the pictures. Just be ready to pay $40+tip and the chance of not getting your exact change. Boom. Done. read more

I always go to a place several times before i drop a review on Yelp and I just got back from my third haircut with Mone. The fade, cut and style he has done all three times has been excellent. You can tell that he loves what he does because the cut and style never feels rushed. For my fade, he goes through many steps to achieve the perfect looking blend. Mone has legit skills and its evidenced in my cut which isn't just a basic fade but also requires scissor work on the top for a styled but clean look. Very glad and fortunate to have stumbled into this place on Yelp. He has a new regular in me. Check him out if you want a good haircut. read more

Hands down the best barber in town! No show... just professional and the best cuts. Thanks Mone! read more

Mone the Barber - Solid every time I've been here! Thank you! - Barbers Near Me - San Francisco, California

With a last minute call, Mone saved the day! I've been disenchanted with every haircut I had for 2 years. Ranging from boutique prices of $75+ to great clips= fish sammich at BK. I've given myself an above average in comparison (to BK, not Mone) haircut by myself and get compliments on it the last 4 years. Pride aside I put myself in his quick hands and walked away confident to put my clippers away forever and let a true professional do their thing. read more

After being in the City for a year, I finally found a great Barber. Mone is definitely an artist. I always judge my Barber based on how good is the fade and did they butcher the top... My fade is impeccable and the top cut... Perfect. Thanks Mone. See you every couple weeks! read more

Got a haircut and beard trim combo today. Walked in and was seated within 5 minutes. Great haircut at a reasonable price. $35 for a haircut, $15 for the beard trim. Mone was great, friendly, and took his time. Nice atmosphere too. I'll definitely be coming back again. read more

I was looking for a less upscale barber and walked in to try Mone out - he got me in in less than five minutes with no appointment. Here's how he did. Awesome Fade. Kinda messed up the part. Overall was very impressed with the cut. Then I asked how much. Way overpriced - $35 for a fade? I could go to Fellow Barber for just a bit more than that and get an incredibly clean, well decorated environment. I won't be back because of the price. read more

Really good cut. Clean, fast and friendly. And Mone was able to fit me in as a walk in--in only 15 minutes.

I just went to Mone for the first time and took my 3 year old son. Mone was great, really friendly and handled my wiggly kid really well. Haircut was great too. Really glad he's part of the neighborhood. read more

Solid haircut but the price is a bit high. Prime location on Divis is probably the reason.

I've been in SF for 5 years and was actively searching for my "go-to barber"! I've now discovered my guy! He always pays close attention to detail and provides top notch cuts and amazing follow up skills. He once even came to the shop on his day off to take care of me! That's service money can't buy! read more

I want to encourage everyone to go to Mone the Barber. This guy is amazing. I've gotten three haircuts in the past 15 years, the last two by Mone the Barber. He's a family man, a neighborhood guy and he will give you exactly what you want, even if you aren't sure what that is. He's a perfectionist and an artist. His prices are very reasonable considering the time he spends with you and the end result. Drop your current stylist like I did and see Mone the Barber on Divisadero! I promise you will be glad you did. Best in the city. read more
