I don't normally write reviews, but since this is for the benefit of other children, which is the…read moremost important thing a parent can spend their money on, in this case I will share.
This center is actually a pretty decent center, as the price is not as high as corporate centers, it is locally owned and managed. The owner Sonja is there on a daily basis and makes herself available. But, being a lower cost center, you can count on ratios being maxed out, teachers seeming to be very young and the very lowest experience they can hire, and in general you will see that many things in this respect are pinched to keep money from leaving the center. Although the facility is rather modern and well maintained with recent expansion. The money does go to that, and it is nice. And I do like the access system which logs access as well as there almost always being someone seated near the door to monitor comings and goings.
I wanted to post the positives even though I have had a bad experience with this center just to be sure to clarify this center is not all bad. The main negative and the reason we finally left the center is probably common to a lot of centers I would assume. The issue is the directors and possibly this comes from above I do not know, are overbearing, know it alls, that disregard and disrespect the parents. I understand centers have rules and policies, but you cannot have scheduled catch up meetings with them to try to clarify respectfully and clearly what is going on and why things are done how they are done. They don't schedule them but if you ask, they will give one. But they take it personally and then become vindictive. I had questions about diaper changing schedules, which seem to be done at 2 hour intervals no matter if dirty or wet, about policies on infants sleeping on their tummies, about group size limits, there are 12 infants jammed into one small room with 3 teachers, and several things more. We had a meeting and they were somewhat defensive, then when new the same things along with new things came up we asked the director again, and instead of clarifying what is going on, Jennie in this case became extremely hostile and defensive, in fact right in the infant room in front of teachers and babies and not in an office. Jennie does not know basic statutes concerning group sizes, diaper schedules, and infant back sleeping, but will argue with you about these things, rather than discuss calmly. She tries to get you to sign a waiver on the back sleeping to let them sleep the baby on the tummy without even knowing what the waiver says, or otherwise being completely dishonest on the topic. There are issues here is all I am saying.
Valerie is far more careful about being proper, but still there is just a problem with the whole attitude you get from these two, of being arrogant and above the customer.
At any rate, I would say this location is a good low cost center, just be very aware and cautious if these directors are there not to let them walk all over you, and trust but verify the things they are telling you.
