What we love: -Outdoor time everyday, regardless of the weather. Our daughter can really play, exploring her environment, climbing trees, digging holes, and playing in the mud kitchen. I like that she can get dirty, and that she gets so much play time! -Affordable and consistent -- this is the third preschool/childcare we've used in Watsonville, and is much more affordable than the others. And, they pretty much follow the PVUSD calendar, so there aren't a bunch of days or weeks off that we have to scramble for backup care. They are closed for the month of July, which is a bummer, but you don't pay for that month. -The teachers are so loving and caring. They know our daughter and they know our family. They are affectionate. Our daughter tells them she loves them, because she really, really does. -Lots of field trips -- Mt. Madonna, local farms, the beach, the library, local museums. -Age appropriate academics -- kids are totally ready for kindergarten, but there isn't a forced, regimented curriculum forced down their throats. In sum, this is the preschool I was dreaming of, and I am so happy that we found it. Teacher Anne and her staff are incredible.

Tahira and the staff are caring, patient, and attentive to each child's needs. We've noticed tremendous growth in learning and communication, especially in recognizing new alphabets, numbers, songs, and simple words. We truly appreciate the love, attention, and dedication the staff shows every single day.

However, talking with Tahira immediately put our minds at ease. Her love and care for children are palpable, and she took the time to truly understand what would be helpful for our daughter and her needs. Tahira and her helpers consistently went above and beyond. They were instrumental in helping our daughter with her naps, which initially took a lot of time and effort. We also greatly appreciated the regular photos and updates that kept us informed of her progress, and their flexibility in incorporating our suggestions was incredibly reassuring. Now, after 10 months, our daughter is always excited to go to daycare! She's very fond of her teachers, Tahira, Veer, and Liz, and loves playing with all the other children. The kids usually go outside to play at least once a day, and Sunny Daycare provides nutricious snacks and lunch. They keep the children engaged with a variety of fun activities such as coloring, bubble time, singing rhymes, and dancing. It's delightful how our daughter comes home with a new nursery rhyme nearly every day! We're grateful for the loving and supportive environment Sunny Daycare provides.

Our daughter left…read moreBelen's in March 2026 at about 1.5 years old, after joining when she was only 10 months old. The level of love, joy, and care that all of the caregivers provided was beyond outstanding. We had to relocate from the Bay Area and were incredibly sad to leave. Our daughter was well fed, felt deeply loved, and built so much confidence in their care. I never had to worry about what she was doing during the day because I knew she was in incredible hands. She even became a bilingual baby, speaking Spanish alongside English at home. Not to mention, I learned so much from them as a parent; from patience and gentle reinforcement techniques to learning how to style my daughter's hair in such beautiful ways. At her new school, our daughter kept saying the names of all her caregivers and friends, talking about how much she missed them for months. Honestly, as a parent, hearing that was really hard to stomach, but it truly showed the lasting impact they left on her. They are an incredible group of women who are hard to forget and will forever be part of our village. Leaving this review with lots of love in my heart; the same love that they showed my daughter (and the parents) for the entirety of her time there.

He stopped napping, and every time I asked to change his schedule, they were incredibly flexible. While everyone else slept, he would do activities and come home with new little projects he had made. But the biggest thing for me: he actually became excited to go to daycare. That had never happened before, and I was honestly surprised by how happy he was there. I'm genuinely sad we're leaving and will miss them so much. I can't wait until our younger son to go there too.

Yes, with all the guilt I felt, I felt strongly and needed to start providing for myself and my little one. So I was referred to this place when my 3 year old was having a hard time adjusting being away from both my partner and I. Angel and Gio are rockstars! They have been a blessing to myself and my little one who continues to grow more knowledgeable. Every time I drop him off, he's already rushing to go inside or reaching for Gio to carry him. It's the sweetest thing to see him attached to another individual outside of myself or my partner. They are as more involved with my child's upbringing than myself. And that's okay. I know in the long haul for development purposes that this was the right choice. They were reasonable and extremely flexible with us. I would recommend this place 1000% over and that's because they send me memos, notes, lovely pictures of how my child is doing. Always updating me and ensuring that I'm involved with things that could help with his development. They go above and beyond to ensure your child is always getting the best out of their day, with play time, healthy home cooked meals and ensuring they at least get 30-1hr worths nap and I just don't know how they do it all, but they do because they are compassionate human beings who love our little one and you could totally tell by the way they handle their daycare. Lots of love towards these two!

I wrote a review and added it to Yelp/Google. Way to make it sound like it's my life's mission to take them down by any means necessary. Thanks for the laughable attempt to gaslight me yet again. And how interesting that hours after I post my review, 2 people who list their location as SJ and Fremont, with only reviews for those areas, post reviews raving not just about GK, but specifically the owners? BLATANT LIARS. The trend you will see from the owners here is that they will deny issues, lie about what happened, lie about rectifying issues, but ultimately do absolutely nothing to address any problems. Screen-time: I have never heard of a daycare that utilizes screen time. That should have been the first red flag. I see another review here that calls them out on it and someone from Genius Kids lies (they do that a lot) and denies it flat-out. The Genius Kids Brochure lists that screen time is used (Picture attached), but it says that only Little Einstein Videos are shown, and that screen-time does not start until 5 pm, which we didn't think would matter since we pick-up before then, but I picked my son up at 4:30 one day and found the children sitting and watching Baby Shark on a tv. I emailed the owner and explained that my son has extremely limited screen-time, and when he does get screen-time he only gets educational and low-stimulating shows like Daniel Tiger, Peppa Pig, or Miss Rachel. I pointed out that screen time was not supposed to start until 5 pm and she assured me she would talk to staff, but it continued to happen consistently and her response was simply "Tell me if it happens again," and nothing would change. My son came home singing Cocomelon songs and talking about cartoons we have never even heard of and absolutely would not approve of. The children were watching YouTube videos when we picked him up between the hours of 4:00 and 4:30 pm more times than I can count. Please talk to other parents whose kids have gone here and they can confirm the children watching mindless youtube videos before 5 pm. Daycare costs way too much to have them just plop our children down in front of a screen and rot their brain. Toileting: One day we picked our son up and noticed he had been left in the pull-up he wears at nap-time (it had been several hours since nap and no one had noticed it or taken it off). We let it slide, but another day we were told our son had an accident. I sent a message asking for more information because it was concerning to have an accident after so long without one, and I got a message that it happened before nap-time. However, mixed in with his wet clothes was a wet school bedsheet, which lead me to understand that he didn't have an accident before nap, the staff forgot to put him in a pull-up for nap-time and he peed while sleeping, resulting in a wet sheet and clothes and then LIED ABOUT IT. Sunblock: One day my son came home clearly sunburned. Genius Kids requires all children to be sent to daycare with sunblock because they claim to put sunblock on children before outdoor time every day. The next day at drop-off, my husband talked to the owner and pointed out that our son was sunburned. The owner told him that we should put sunblock on him before we drop him off. Sunblock does not last all day! It needs to be reapplied every 2 hours AND immediately before being outside, which is why we assume they require children to provide their own sunblock in the first place. Refusing to take accountability and trying to shift blame onto us was appalling. Any one of these issues would be cause for serious concern, but shockingly, this isn't even close to all of the troubling incidents we experienced at Genius Kids (consistently spelling his name wrong on all of his work, when they were supposed to be teaching him to recognize and spell his super common and easy to spell name). The site is clearly understaffed and the staff they have seriously lack proper training. I refuse to allow Genius Kids to hinder my son's development, neglect, or mistreat him and I would encourage any parent to steer clear of this place. Also, please check out their insane list of violations on the department of social services website. I wish I had seen all these before sending my son there: https://www.ccld.dss.ca.gov/carefacilitysearch/FacDetail/434413902 Facility Number: 434413902
