Mean and Unhelpful. My Dad and I were shopping for a Heat n…read moreGlo fireplace and we went in to Selid. We wrote down all the dimensions for the fireplace. He didnt even want to listen to what our needs were. He just kept repeating "I dont know what you have". He didnt know what an LP conversion kit consisted of! He said that there wasn't any way to get from 6 5/8" to 8", but when he looked in his manual it was clearly stated that this was required. It was a simple install and he quoted an installation fee of over $1600! On the bright side, his wife was nice. Only go here if you want to get treated like dirt and get ripped off.

I think you must not have known what YOU had, and couldn't explain to him what your needs were. Usually people who are shopping for a fireplace, know what their dimensions are, have a pretty good idea of how many square feet they have to heat, and the size heater they want. If you go in trying to explain your needs without articulating any of these requirements, no one will be able to help you. Also, if you aren't aware, the heaters you described are expensive to install. I had one installed when I came from, and the price was on par with what you're talking about here, so you need to know they aren't trying to rip you off. The installs must be done correctly or you DIE! Plus, they have to warranty the installation. I hope you were able to get yours done to your satisfaction. Just remember, there are many facets to a job like this, and every job is different.
