Our tour guide Josephine did a superb and entertaining job explaining the history of the Eiffel Tower. Highly recommend!

Wow, what a museum. There's is so much to see. I would love to return one day because I didn't have…read moreall the time to take everything in. I was there for a good 3+hours. There are sections where the painting takes up the entire wall. Not a mural, but a full painting with an entire scene and details for days. Look up, and you'll see more art. Some art pieces are so large, you can only properly view it from afar. The ceilings are also beautiful. It's all so impressive. I opted for a timed ticket entry booking for 9am and didn't wait in line for very long. I'd say about 30minutes before it got moving. I was in the earlier crowd, close to the pyramid and can see the security area. Security was swift, but I packed lightly. Of course after using the bathroom and grabbing my audio guide I bee-lined right for the Mona Lisa, knowing it was the most popular painting there. I was able to get right up to the barrier pretty peacefully within 5 minutes of waiting. I heard someone say "well this is quite pleasant" lol. I was surprised too! So definitely get there early because when I returned to this spot later, closer to noon, boy was it packed with tourists groups and people rushing in to try for a good view. I definitely noticed that keeping calm also keeps everyone else around you calm, so don't go running because that might trigger everyone else to run and that's how chaos ensues. Don't push. You've got time, just wait your turn. My friends opted to go on a third party tour and I don't think they were able to get up to the barrier, but they prioritized the in-person guided experience more than anything, so just keep this in mind if you're deciding whether to opt to go on your own or with a group. Everything had English captions which was helpful. Underground, where the exit is, there are tons of shops. The museum's souvenir shop is quite nice, with cute collaborations. We passed by tons of other cute shops like Pop Mart and Le Petit Souk where I grabbed some cute postcards, and my friend grabbed some flats from VIVAIA. It's a whole mall down there called Carrousel du Louvre. Keep this in mind if you somehow still have energy for it after walking a million steps at the museum lol.

I visited it last week and purchased my advance reservation ticket weeks before for last Thursday at 9 am. Taking the Metro there was easy and I arrived in the center by the glass pyramid at about 8:40 am. By then there were several hundred people already standing in the 9 am line. By 9 am there were several hundred more people behind me. I estimated about 1500 people were in my 9 am line. As we started to move towards security there were people already in the 9:30 am line and even some in the 10 am line. The crowds here are for real. It was almost 9:30 am by the time I got past security and inside ready to start, First problem. There are just too many people admitted every day. I found it distracting to look and admire all of the works of art in there. It's like going to a college football game. The Louvre reminded me of the second most popular museum which is The Vatican Museums in Rome. I've been there too. Second problem. Even some if the docents agreed with me that their map is confusing, I know that because I got lost a few times and asked them for directions, One of them told me that it's better to ask a docent for directions than try to figure where you are using the map! By the way you get your map in your language right after you pass security. This place is big. It's very easy to miss things you might want to see if you aren't careful. Now, I have a tip for improvement. When I visited The Vatican Museums a couple of years ago, I took a guided tour which made the visit pleasurable and less stressful, I failed to do that here. My mistake. If I had I might have a better perspective of this place. The guides don't get lost and also point out things that I might have missed. This is a great museum with high quality art and history inside. It's silly that hundreds of people will jostle to get Mona Lisa's picture but you will too like I did. Ditto on the Venus de Milo and Winged Victory. Don't forget afterward to visit the exterior of the Louvre including the nearby Gardens.

Wow what a beauty of a building!!…read more I cannot emphasize enough how much you should go visit this place Specifically you should book the mystery tour held at 5pm which boasts a behind the scenes look at the Paris Opera House and its beautiful Grand Foyer(note- you may recognize the famous steps from Emily in Paris ) It's a group tour - but it's after hours so it's definitely limited people and less tourists then during the day and I loved it- The guides were great , you get an ear piece to listen to in multiple languages I would love to come back and see an actual show someday

I had wanted to see the opera house for about 15 years and did not have a chance-we were very happy with our experience! The opera house is located at Place de l'Opéra in the 9th arrondissement of Paris and the tour entrance is in the back side of the building. There are a variety of tours but we selected a guided tour so there could be allot of interaction and added information - it was well worth it! Tours are available from It is generally open from 10 am to 5 pm (last admission one hour before closing), though the auditorium may be closed unpredictably due to rehearsals. We were on a guided tour and they allowed us in during one of the rehearsals although we could not speak. Having visited many opera houses in the past including London, Vienna, Prague, etc. this one was very impressive. The Grand Staircase, museum, foyer, and addition displays are amazing. Well worth the visit!

A few Saturdays ago, some very good friends asked if we would like to join them and their little…read moredog on a 2-hour guided tour of Montmartre Well, we both know Montmartre very well, me, after nearly 55 years visiting Paris...apart from anything else, it's the only place to get all your haberdashery needs! (Oh yes it is!) But this was to be a little different. Our guide would take us around, pointing out all the main places where artists, poets, musicians and writers had lived and how they lived, the bars they frequented and generally who met who, where, when, why It was an excellent visit. There were so many little side streets that I had never been to; buildings I knew as a "site", but not in terms of their history; little parks; who the statues were and why they were there; the old entrances to the metro stations and much more....also she introduced us to Flashinvader, see below*, but beware, it is addictive, though if you are bringing kids, then it's a big bonus She did not bother doing the normal sites; that was not the purpose. Rather it was about the long gone, hidden history. During my French studies all those years ago, I had read most of the books and poems we discussed; since when, I had probably seen most of the art referred to (BTW, just don't miss the Musee d'Orsay or even the little museum in Montmartre itself) and heard the music She was very patient, answered all our questions, had enlarged photos of everything so you could understand what Montmartre used to look like all those years ago ie being outside of Paris then One more thing. We all speak fluent French, but she spoke seriously good English, both in terms of vocabulary but also accent, which is just as important for understanding Oh, wear sensible shoes - if you didn't know, its very up and down We had a great time and fully recommend Elisa to you. If you look her up online you will see plenty of other visit opportunities *Flashinvader: its an app. All over the place little space invader art is dotted around; mostly you have to look up to near the street signs. And not just in Montmartre or even just Paris. There is a fan who is patiently logging a map of them all over the world. You get points; its just a bit of fun...but who knew?!

I look forward to returning someday to see the restored structure. I am also reminded of a review that is long overdue. My wife and I went to Paris from the United States for the first time but were only able to visit for three days. Because of the short visit, we wished to see as many of the famous Parisian sites as possible. We arranged for a day of sightseeing to visit the Louvre, the Eifel Tour and Notre Dame Cathedral. Our personal tour guide for the day was Sylvanie. You could not ask for a more personable and knowledgeable escort for our journey. Sylvanie was absolutely amazing in her knowledge of everything Parisian as well of her intimate knowledge of the tourist locations. Not only was Sylvanie able to intelligently answer my wife's (who has studied art) questions, she was able to also answer my (no art history what-so-ever) relative simple questions. When I ask why the Mona Lisa is such a popular painting when there are so many more beautiful works in the Louvre, she tells the complete history of exactly why the painting is such a tourist draw (Actually quite an interesting story. You should ask her). When my wife asks about the painting on the opposite wall, the Feast at Cana, Sylvanie doesn't miss a beat and has a vivid story about how France came into possession of this work of art. Our trip to the Notre Dame Cathedral was equally impressive. Her knowledge of the art and history of the cathedral was astounding. I have been remembering quite a lot of my time at the cathedral as I have been watching the news reports of the fire. My wife and I were able to understand so much more of the history through Sylvanie's stories than had we simply gone on our own. Everything about our day was perfectly planned by Sylvanie and was executed seamlessly. She had arranged for car service for us and each time the car arrived shortly after our exit at each location. Our admission to each attraction was pre-purchased by Sylvanie prior to our arrival and we simply followed her into each location and felt like VIPs. It is obvious that Sylvanie worked hard prior to our arrival to make sure that our day was perfect. That sort of perfection does not come easily. My wife and I simply fell in love with Paris and will be returning soon. When we return, we will definitely use Sylvanie's services again. We could not have asked for a more perfect day and her fees were actually quite reasonable. We had a private tour with a lovely extremely knowledgeable tour guide for what it would otherwise cost for a group tour. I would recommend her to anybody wishing to see the sites Paris has to offer.
