The store has a boutique feel to it with hand written pricing and operated by the owner. They do take credit/debit cards which made it way too easy to spend money on rocks. If you're near Delta and want to get some rocks, check this place out!

The quarry is always digging up more material to go through and we found hundreds of trilobites on this day trip. Between my family and our friends we had seven kids under the age of 12! All of them had a blast and a memory they will never forget! What is better than looking for fossil treasures by beating rocks with hammers. Don't think you can't do it because I watched a four-year-old with a little child's hammer split open a shake rock almost as big as her! Thanks to Jessica for being a great host!

We had an amazing time here today!!…read more My family came to visit me in Utah several years ago and came to Delta to dig trilobites; I was in school at the time and was left out! So this time when my dad came to visit, he took me down here to A New Dig to dig my own :) We had an awesome experience with Clay (and his cute little assistant!) today. Clay was super attentive and taught us what kind of rocks to look for, how to use the equipment, and what parts of the quarry were plentiful (basically everywhere). When my fam came last time, they went to a different company, which my dad said had smaller trilobites than the ones we found today, and there were more of them here than at the other site. Basically, it was a higher quality experience with bigger fossils! Couldn't beat having the owner talk rocks with us and show us his best spots, as well as give us some trilobites he found while he was with us. He also told us what different types of trilobites, brachiopods, and other algae and plant life we were seeing in the fossils. It was a great day and we stayed for 3.5 hours just digging away, happily hounding the rocks! We took home a big bucket of fossils; he offered to let us take as many home as we wanted but my dad was travelling and we couldn't load up. Super generous!! I will DEFINITELY be back with friends this summer and we will be staying the weekend. Clay and his wife made trilobite digging a great experience for me and my dad- thank you so much for letting us open the season

Leaving SLC a little late and not having time? Finally, I took the time to pull over on my way through Scipio and wake a walk around. On the outside, you have weathered items, and some of the less lustrous and shiny stuff like old 7up bottles. We stepped inside, and the familiar scene unfolded: stuff. Beautiful, old, interesting, storied stuff. We pawed over it, still in a rush, and chose a few old postcards -- a particular weakness of mine. There's a large homage to old linens and quilts here, and other than that, I can't say that there's any theme to the curation of vintage and antique items. Toys, house goods, some kitchen stuff, and all kinds of collectibles. You really just have to see it and look it all over yourself, and obviously get something new to you to love and house. Here's the part that won me over: we selected the postcards, and were told by the wife that the husband would take care of us if we wanted to buy something. We knocked on the door in the back and he invited us in to his personal residence that sits just beyond that door. We sat and talked while he peeled potatoes; apparently there was a big dinner that night and he was tasked with peeling. We paid him, tried to leave the change, and he insisted on giving us back our change instead. It wasn't just "like" being invited in to someone's home to look at their stuff and chat, it was "exactly" that. True road trip magic.

Many of their treasures are of the knick-knack variety (old toys, antique tools, etc.), but they do have a section with furniture, paintings, textiles. Things are priced generally reasonably. When they're not in the store, they have items in front of their shop and on their lawn that you pay for on an honor system-- just slip the money into the mailbox and you're done.
