This store was originally near Martin Place before relocating too much larger premises in Westfields Sydney. The new store is absolutely amazing. The fit out is breathtaking and definitely up to world standards (think Opening Ceremony in Tokyo or Colete in Paris, only slightly more conservative in aesthetic). The product assortment is beautifully curated. The last time I was there the lady that served me was really helpful. I was looking to buy a shirt. She showed me the whole collection and explained the differences in each of the shirts. Her knowledge of the products they sell was incredible. They take a very service orientated approach to sales, which I love. They even offered me a cup of tea or coffee while I was viewing the collection. I will definitely be coming back. Very highly recommended.

Recently I was in there and tried on a fab Orlebar Brown T-shirt that was a perfect staple so I said I'd take 3 of them. It was on sale at 30% off, bringing the price down to what I normally pay for my James Perse T-shirts so it was a no brainer. No problems they said, the other 2 are in Melbourne so we'll have them sent up. ELEVEN days later I got a call saying my T shirt (singular) had arrived so I said that I was expecting 2 of them. The not-so-switched-on salesgirl said she'd look into it and get back to me but she never did. So I went in today to pick them/it up and was told that there were in fact 2 identical T-shirts but they were from different seasons so I could have the older one at 30% off but the newer one would be full price. I asked another not-so-switched on salesgirl if she could check with the manager if I could get them both for the price I paid for the first one so off she went to ask. When she came back a fair while later she said that the T-shirt should never have been marked down in the first place and that I'd have to pay full price for both of them. In light of all the stuffing around, delays and the fact that I've bought a fair bit from them, I felt that this was pretty shabby service so I told them they could keep both of them. I will not be back. Anytime management wonder why business is so bad, and where all their customers went (online) just take a look at the 2nd rate service, inflated prices and ever diminishing product offering for your answer. Oh, and by the way if you now want to pay with Amex, that'll be an additional 3% surcharge. Does ANY online store do that? I think not.

With the average man falling into the fashion-impaired department, a stop into Maple will likely go a helluva long way. Hip, young brands like Nudie, G-Star, Kitsu, and Levi's fill the Maple shelves. Much of it is basic, but basics done well. On first approach, it looks more like a skate shop, but take and step inside and you'll find the merchandise to be much more trendy casual. I would say about 30% of the merchandise inside Maple is women's wear, with the rest geared toward dudes. If you're in the market for some of those rubber Native tennis shoes (in many different bold colors), you can find them here. They look a little like Crocs and Vans procreated, but in that super cool, "now" way.

Zambelli stocks some beautiful corporate clothes for men and women at beautifully corporate (read…read moreexpensive) prices. The clothes here are clearly tailored to customers who have to maintain a professional and pristine appearance - and get paid accordingly. Whilst some of their stock can be a bit dull (it is office attire after all), the clothes appear to be made really well and every now and then a stunningly slick dress or beautifully tailored skirt suit will appear in the window and you'll find yourself wishing you had a corporate job just so you can justify purchasing it. The shop's manager Yvette is only too happy to help you out, finding styles that will suit you best and matching ties like she's been doing it forever. Plus, she folds a shirt like an intricate work of origami (minus the creases). The tricky thing with Zambellis is catching it when it's open, as either I have poor timing or the store seems to host a 'back in 15 minutes' sign for most 15 minutes of the day.

Dangerfield has a couple different stores around the Sydney area. While they are all created pretty…read moremuch equal, I do prefer the Oxford Street Bondi Junction location. Why? The selection is large and the staff is helpful. I popped in the other day as I was killing time and had a nice little chat with the girl behind the counter as I was trying on rings. They have a lot of those big ones that go on multiple fingers at once. Roses, guns, skulls... and the like. The clothing certainly caters to a certain "type." Punk, emo, goth, or rockabilly peeps will have a field day in here. But not exclusively. I enjoy the accessories immensely and I don't really fall into any of those categories. One doesn't need to be totally punk rock to rock a polka dotted scarf or a pair of studded earrings. If you're looking for a swing dress, they have the same style over and over again in different colors and prints. Most are A-line and fit for sitting on an old Thunderbird, wearing bright red lipstick and drinking a malted milkshake. The dresses are all around $80, which feels steep for the quality, so I usually steer myself away.

I called into the Bondi Junction store to have a look see. The problem is although they often have some clothes, which I like, for the level of quality they offer their clothes are way overpriced. I look after my clothes and if I buy something I like then I want it to last. Whenever I go to Dangerfield I think to myself why bother as I am only setting myself up for disappointment. Many of the clothes they sell, seem to be virtually disposable and if they were really cheap I would be okay with this, but that is not the case. What they do have going for them is accessories, which are here, there and everywhere throughout the shop, and some of them are really cool and more enticing than the clothes, So I would be more inclined to shop there for something to accompany my outfit rather than the outfit itself.

I love these little T-Bar shops, they're funky and cheap and give me a reason not to buy online. I…read moremean, it's not a brand name which is easily found online, and it's made my individual designers in a limited run, I can try it on, and they're cheap with bulk discounts available. No reason left to buy online. The fabric is very comfortable, and lasts well according to how often you wear it, and wash it, I would say 12-18 months would be a good life to get out of one of the T's The staff are awesome and very friendly, they'll recommend some great designs for you, and if you like the ones on sale - don't worry, they're sweat and not pushy on sales.

What I like about T Bar is it treats T shirts as art, rather than an exploitation to advertise brand names. In doing this T Bar employs many artists, both local and international to create designs for the shirts and they promote the artists as well which is fantastic. As always Art is a matter of taste and what T Bar offers is broad, there are many shirts I like and many I do not. At the moment they have a brilliant design from English artist Tim Laing of multiple faces merged together with the top of their heads chopped off with mountains, landscape and birds coming out the top, another by Sydney artist Beast Man features a 3D design of an eyeball in a cage, it is more interesting than that, but difficult to describe. I am not crazy about the prices of $40 a T shirt, manly as the quality of the fabric is not that high and I do not think the shirts will last a long time. If they were a little better made I would be buying them, Still you could buy one and hang it on a wall.

Denham's denim den!…read more Seriously, how convenient that your surname is Denham and you make denim. That's like a baker being called Baker, or, I don't know, a brewer being called Beer. The brand is only a few years old - the founder got his start making jeans for Bono because apparently the guy is really short, who knew? - and started in Amsterdam, spiritual home of denim. The shop itself is really well appointed, like it's nice to just hang out in there, and if you take your Denham jeans on they'll do whatever fixing and alterations you need in-store. Downstairs is a sandstone room filled with incense and the next seasons worth of designs for both men & women, as well as some giant oversized coffee table books with the Denham story that are well worth checking out. Oh, and freshly sharpened pencils, which I really like.
