They didn't return our phone calls when we had questions, made us wait for hours (around 3 hours on average) in the waiting room after our scheduled appointment, didn't have answers for us when we finally got to see the doctor, and 2/4 times hadn't even collected all the test results from the clinics in our home state. During our last visit, our doctor asked if my wife wanted to redo some testing ($500-700 out of pocket) to see if they missed anything. What? If you think YOU missed something, just do the test again, but don't charge US for it! I was also strongly advised to only go to them for testing ($250 out of pocket) because she'd heard it's impossible to get into my home clinic. When I called my home clinic, the testing is a simple walk in procedure that costs $16.50. They refuse to give any type of test results over the phone, even though we live in a different state. We drove to Memphis for a quick procedure (after the 2.5 hour wait in the waiting room) and then went home. A few days later we called to get the results after getting an email saying they were ready. They flat refused to tell us our results and made us schedule an appointment, pay the fee to see the doctor, and wait our usual 2 hours in the waiting room, before giving us information. This place feels like a money grab. After we decided we were going to find a different clinic, we requested our medical records. THEY SENT US A STRANGERS MEDICAL RECORDS on accident! If accidents like THAT are happening, what else is going on?! Going through fertility treatment is a difficult and intimate process. We were expecting professional, compassionate, determined care. We received long waits, insane bills for basic tests, zero communication, and a feeling of hopelessness for something we've been working so hard for. After spending literally thousands of dollars it is worth it to us to find a different clinic that respects us, our time, and our goals. ***We told the physician who originally referred us about our experience. She apologized for sending us, as she learned later that the clinic had been bought by a hospital and has been hearing similar feedback from other couples.***

Keeping it real when parents-to-be are in a fog. Let's face it, parents-to-be who have trouble…read morebecoming parents often need help conceiving or retaining a pregnancy. We get emotional, we are angry, we are sad. Fortunately for the mid-south, Fertility Associates of Memphis provides that service and can help most families with their fertility problems. (It has been six years since I've required the services of this office, so you know my review is not tainted by hormones or stained by tears.) My experience with Fertility Associates of Memphis was not unlike many other moms' trials. We didn't have trouble getting pregnant, but I'd suffered multiple miscarriages and 2 D&Cs, and my OBGYN was smart enough to refer me to her partner on a research publication she'd done on multiple miscarriages. Conveniently located in the same building at 80 Humphrey's Center near Baptist Women's Hospital, I was walked down to see Dr. Kutteh. After all the emotions I'd experienced in an office full of women, it was a nice change to see some male faces who approached my fertility proactively and in a scientific manner. I had an HSG (a painful x-ray of the uterus with dye), DNA testing, progesterone supplements, and eventually, a very simple surgery to repair a minor problem (major enough, however, to prevent any embryo from attaching). It felt good leaving his office after each visit with a proactive feeling, like I knew what was going to happen next, and I knew what we'd done so far. I was kept in the loop, I never felt like crying in the office, and I knew that he'd get me there. When I had the surgery at Methodist, one nurse did not start my IV antibiotics on time and he really gave it to her! This doctor takes care of his patients and wants things done correctly. That's what I'd want for my own daughter, too. Some serious precautions (folic acid, progesterone supplements, etc) later, we have a son and daughter, just like we always dreamed of. I have since had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Kutteh when he visited our church, and enjoyed speaking to him and his wife, and thanking him in person for helping us. Other friends of mine have experienced Clomid for ovulation, and IVF treatments with Dr. Ke and loved his demeanor as well. They have recently taken on a third partner, Dr. Brezina, who became interested in the field after he and his wife experienced their own difficulty conceiving. Isn't it a comfort to know that your fertility specialist might have experienced some of the heartache and wait that you have? P.S. When our insurance didn't want to cover treatment, they fought for us and saved us some money, too!

Beware of Data Retention and Breaches for collections purposes before being seen…read more I had an extremely frustrating encounter with the billing representative, Jay (black lady tight Jerry curl), at Desoto Family Care Clinic. She insisted that providing my Social Security Number (SSN) was needed for receiving care, yet failed to produce any official documentation to support this claim. Asked if I didn't have a phone number or address would they deny care. She stated probably so..When I questioned this requirement, she became dismissive and accused me of fraudulent behavior, despite my presentation of a valid driver's license and insurance card-both of which were verified as active by Anthony at the front desk already before I interacted with Billing. Anthony clarified that the SSN is only necessary if a patient's account is sent to collections, not for receiving care or for patients paying upfront. I expressed concerns about data privacy, especially in light of recent breaches, and offered to pay for the visit in CASH. Nevertheless, Jay refused and proceed, stating she didn't want to "deal with that lady and she can go to the ER," referring to me. The kicker she is not a doctor to advise anyone of care. This behavior was unprofessional and appeared to be driven by personal bias and lack of understanding rather than actual policy.. I maintained my professionalism and integrity the whole time and even Anthony front desk rep understood that I was not being hostile but needed direct answers. The billing representative Jay was screaming from the back even when my mom went to ask you know why if she's paying cash. Ask to speak to the practice manager about this complaint and concerns and was told to just call the number on the New Patient Registration Form and ask for the manager. There was no financial agreement to be signed included in the new patient registration forms, nor listed as their policy, and when asked for the policy to be provided stating that it was mandatory, Jay got VERY defensive over talked me , NEVER answered the questions and got dismissive and walked away and then proceeded to yell from the back office at my mother and me. In front of other patients exposing my information. As someone who works in healthcare billing and insurance , I am aware that under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), patients have the right to protect their personal health information, and providers must safeguard this data. Up to 250,000 fine for violating HIPPA. Additionally, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) prohibits debt collectors including MDO from engaging in abusive practices and requires them to provide validation of debts upon request. In Mississippi, the statute of limitations for medical debt collection is three years, meaning that any attempt to collect a debt beyond this period is unlawful. Furthermore, the Mississippi Insurance Department provides guidelines to protect consumers from balance billing and unexpected medical charges. I have never been here before and again offered to pay CASH for this one visit. Jay's actions not only violated these protections but also denied me access to necessary medical care. Desoto Family Care Clinic must reevaluate their staff training and billing practices to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and to uphold the rights and dignity of their patients new and existing patients. The HHS and other agencies will be notified of the breach of privacy and the denial of medical care for a simple cold and diabetic care. Read and understand your rights as a patient and advocate for your patients rights and health. Thankfully went to another clinic and was seen with no issues nor SSN needed. Side note the other staff that I encountered were nice and calm. But that Black lady "Jay" in billing needs more education on laws, billing medical insurance on what's needed to file a claim and CE training on Personal Bias in a Healthcare Setting.

Took the pills prescribed to get rid of it. A few months later same symptoms but more severe so I made another appointment. Was told everything looks good and was told a script would be sent to my pharmacy for the itching. Nothing was ever sent. Left several voicemails for her nurse with no return calls in the first week. Waited until the 2nd week and someone finally answered with a horrible attitude. Was told I had BV again and this time a cream you insert was prescribed. I was so concerned because I have never had any issues before and didn't understand why it come back. The nurse literally did not answer any questions and rushed me off the phone. When I say this stuff had me on fire and the itching was so bad I was literally shredding myself to pieces. I looked up the medication, and it mentioned that it can cause a yeast infection so most gynecologist prescribe something for possible yeast infection. Long story short it didn't help me at all. It made the symptoms beyond severe to say the least. I have contacted the office several times all times within their business hours and it's almost like they are screening calls and sending me to voicemail. I have left several voicemails for an appointment with no return calls. When you have issues like this you want to stay with one consistent specialist so you can play the game of elimination to finally find the root of the cause. I have literally only seen her twice and have never been rude or out of line. It's sad when Gynecologists start to focus more on advertising and providing Beauty/ Skin procedures that may be more profitable that they start ignoring patients who really put their trust in them for their expertise. I was forced to look elsewhere for help which was kind of a blessing in disguise because I have found a wonderful doctor who really seems to care about patients and takes my symptoms seriously.

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience with this OB practice. I'm sharing my experience so…read morethat expecting mothers can consider whether this is the right practice for their pregnancy. TLDR: I delivered my third baby with MOGA. There were unexpected complications in L&D (a shoulder dystocia which occurred because I vaginally delivered a baby in the 99% percentile post-due-date). I attribute these complications to my OB and the office's mismanagement. This practice demonstrated an unwillingness to listen to me as a patient advocating for their needs and incompetence leading up to and post delivery. I incurred significant extra out-of-pocket medical expenses that would have been avoided if they had been able to schedule my induction for sooner. (As a note of context, my other two children were born by their due date at 7lb7oz and 6lb13oz with no complications. I had a far easier recovery with both - including my firstborn - than I did when I had MOGA as my provider for my third pregnancy, even though all three pregnancies were low risk and no complications leading up to L&D). Problems pre labor and delivery - When we moved to Memphis in my third trimester, at my first visit, I shared a concern that my dating was off and the baby was running large. I indicated at this visit that it was important to have induction scheduled by due date, if not before in the 39th week. - My OB brushed off my concerns when the baby showed large (70% percentile) in the 36th week ultrasound, suggesting it was probably smaller than the ultrasound estimated. - By the 38th week, I pushed to get induction on the calendar for week 39. It was obvious that the baby was continuing to grow, and I knew from previous L&D that I have a flat pelvis (and a small frame) - My OB said that she could schedule the induction in week 39, but then learned that she could not "because the hospital does not allow elective inductions until 40 weeks." (Memorial Baptist's website indicates that it does allow elective inductions once a patient reaches 39 weeks, but I have not called to verify) - I called them two days before I expected to go in for induction, and learned that the induction hadn't been scheduled at all (despite them saying they would schedule it after my Friday appointment the following week). The scheduler then called and was only able to get a spot for 40w6d. I called the manager in a panic to explain my concern about the large baby and non-scheduling and she told me that "they could not get the induction sooner for 'schedule convenience' when I was clearly advocating my concern that the baby was large for gestational age which could make delivery complicated. Problems in labor and delivery -When I finally was induced, when I reached 10cm and was fully effaced, the nurse called my OB to have her come to the hospital. She indicated that she needed to "see another patient in the office, and we needed to wait for her". It took her over an hour to arrive, I was in extreme pain and feeling extreme pressure even with epidural. - When I said we needed to call again because I couldn't wait to push, the OB told the nurse that I should begin pushing without an OB present, which the nurse was not comfortable doing - When she finally arrived, she had a sidebar conversation with the nurse about a mutual contact that the nurse was unfamiliar with. She was not paying close attention to me. This cavalier attitude was concerning, especially given that right after that was the shoulder dystocia. - As noted above, my daughter was 9lb 11oz. This is the 99% for girls. It was clear what I had been advocating for all along - that the office and OB kept challenging me on - was correct. Shoulder dystocia is a serious issue that causes nerve damage in babies and major pelvic floor issues in moms. I had a very difficult recovery Problems post labor delivery - I called the office post labor and delivery to report my experience, and again interfaced with Jackie (office manager) who insisted that it was the hospitals fault that they could not get me in for labor and delivery sooner (even though they did not even attempt to schedule my induction until 5 days before my due date). - A baby in the 99% percentile should be evident to an OB, especially on someone consistently indicating a concern that the baby is large for gestational age -When I explained my experience in the L&D itself, Jackie indicated that she would talk to her boss about potential recourse. - I waited two months and received no call back from her. I had to follow up with her to ask for an update, and she called back to say that she had talked to her boss and there is nothing that they plan to do and ended the call by telling me that I should actually "be thankful that they did not collect $1,000 up front for service provision" (which is far greater than the full patient responsibility) Overall, another provider might be a better option. Thanks!

A surgery was set up quickly and the wonderful office staff assisted us with payment options. Dr. Podraza is one of the most skillful and caring physicians I've ever worked with, and assisted me long after my surgery to assure I received adequate pain management and assistance through St. Francis' physical therapy office. He has often gone above and beyond for me as his patient, so I was thrilled that he was available for me when I became pregnant with our first child - a daughter due next April :-D I truly feel that if he had not noticed some of the problems that other physicians had not and worked to rectify them, my husband and I would still be struggling to conceive. A great office staff that is enjoyable to chat-chat with, while also maintaining professional courtesy and integrity is not always easy to find. This is a must when seeking OB care throughout pregnancy! I highly recommend their office for all of your OBGYN needs. As an aside, don't be fooled by a very simplistic office setting, because the care you receive makes up for costly jungle gyms and mini-arcades for antsy young siblings in the waiting room (being hyperbolic, but ya'll get my drift).
