But it is truly rare to find one with a staff that makes you feel truly welcome. At home. Part of a family. This is one of those oh-so-rare finds, and I simply cannot speak highly enough of it. To start, I'll run down the basics. It is a small hotel with joust 9 rooms, although 10 more will be built shortly. The focal point is the main building, which is a beautiful ancient villa that *still* belongs to a Baron. The 9 rooms surround the villa, each with a beautiful patio area facing out to the villa gardens -- spectacular, indeed! The rooms are somewhat spartan, but in a positive sense. perhaps "understated" is the better word to describe them. They are decorated very nicely with Sicilian country style in mind. Amenities: The entire property has excellent WIFI, full satellite television with English channels, air conditioning in all rooms, etc. etc. Nothing is lacking. The main villa is the central location, which is where the reception is, as well as the restaurant and breakfast room. And breakfast is absolutely excellent!!! Fresh pastries, cookies, salamis, cheese, cakes, you name it. One interesting note is the coffee. The manager of the hotel used to live in the states, and has an affinity for American coffee. If you are looking for American coffee, this may be one of the few places in Sicily where you can get the real thing. He has a true American *professional* drip coffee maker, and imports "Chock full o'Nuts" coffee! I didn't ave any, since I still prefer my espresso in the morning, but it looked just right! OK, so that is the place. I started this review talking about the people, so I will get to that. Massimo, the manager, is one of the most hospitable people I have ever met in my life. I watched as he interacted with all of his guests, and he is a master at making them feel like each is the most important guest he has ever had. It's the kind of thing you just cannot fake. He was born to do this! But what really shines was the staff as a whole. They all interact as a big family. They are more than co-workers, and I saw how ALL of them brought all of the hotel guests into their family. Guests dining with staff, playing around, etc. There was no sense that you were in a hotel. It was like being part of the family here, and that counts big time! In closing this review, I would like to address one last thing. If you a re looking at hotels, you may notice this is a "Three Star" hotel. Honestly, it was very puzzling. The star rating system in Europe is very misleading. I have seen many 5 star hotels that cannot hold a candle to this place, so if you are concerned that it has three stars, please know that the stars are meaningless. You check in and eat breakfast at a cafe (where the organization is based) in the town square. The room we stayed in was wonderful -- in a renovated palace -- with the most extraordinary vaulted, painted ceilings. The room was beautifully renovated with a lovely bathroom, very comfy bed, wi-fi etc. The young women at check-in were extremely helpful and friendly. We arrived on a festival day and they drove around with us for ages to help us find a parking spot (which would have been almost impossible without their help). We had a short walk to the cafe for breakfast which was very extensive and tasty. Scicli, of course is extremely beautiful! Highly recommended.

Stayed here for two nights and it's not enough! I want an entire summer here. Stayed in an AirBnB in Siracusa before coming to Ragusa area. The difference between the two is heaven and earth. This small resort (about 20something rooms) offer baby cots (made by Chicco) and high chair in the dining room. They offer a variety of books (in different languages) for reading pleasure. They offer cappuccino, espresso, americano, and twinnings tea for breakfast. And about ten different Sicilian desserts for breakfast! Wow!

Reasonable Modica rooms…read more Updated, clean rooms...right in the Old Town city center. Friendly staff. Quiet rooms. Even though it's in the city center, you can't here anyone talking from outside. Safe and secure with multiple locked doors and CC video cameras in the entrances...not that they are really needed. It's in a great area. Get some Modica chocolate from confeccionaries or crepes at one of several creperies within a block or two. There's probably a 30 restaurants within 3 blocks. Highly recommend this hotel.

Our room, 103, was up on the 1st floor, 2nd in US parlance, in the corner with a painted, very high (20 ft?) ceiling and antique furniture and furnishings. While the room was very large, the bathroom was small with a tiny shower. The building itself, a former palace had beautiful woodwork and was quite beautiful.The helpful staff stashed our car in their private garage (12€) or the valet/bellman would have found a free spot on the narrow streets. In fact one of the highlights was the warm welcome from the staff. In fact that's one of the hallmarks of this small boutique hotel the extra effort extended by each and every member of the staff-absolutely 5 star service. With that said, there a some things for me that cause me to reluctantly rate them below 4 stars. First and most important, sleep quality. While I prefer firm beds in general the beds here are more like sleeping on a sheet of plywood-there is absolutely no padding at all on the mattresses. Coupled with the extremely firm pillows, it simply was impossible to get in a comfortable sleeping spot for long so consequently I slept quite poorly. The small AC unit in our room struggled to cool the lofty space moving from 26 (79 F) to 24 (75 F) in 6 hours, and never getting lower than 23 even after running all night long. Also, given the structure it wasn't the quietest room for a light sleeper like me with a fair amount of street noise well into the evening and beginning early morning especially from loud dirt bike style motorcycles. I believe this property caters mostly to Italians and the included breakfast was the traditional Italian one; a pastry, a coffee and some fruit so don't be expecting a lavish buffet. Also be aware that the hotel sits adjacent to an elementary school so there's a lot of traffic noise and activity on school mornings as parents drop off the kids. Bottom line, for the price which was VERY reasonable, the warm staff will do everything in their power to enhance your stay but for me, not the most restful.

Getting up the hill can be a challenge but it is nice that the staff will take your car and park it somewhere for you. There is a nice cafe and of course, a great restaurant. The room in which we stayed (blue room) was very nice and had the highest ceilings imaginable. The room was pleasant but the antique furniture, while beautiful, was a bit lacking in modern convenience. Nevertheless, this is a great place to stay.
