The bed is a bit lumpy and the water temperature has a bit of temper. It can be varied all within a minute- temperate, extremely hot then extremely cold. This small resort (about 20something rooms) offer baby cots (made by Chicco) and high chair in the dining room. They offer a variety of books (in different languages) for reading pleasure. They offer cappuccino, espresso, americano, and twinnings tea for breakfast. And about ten different Sicilian desserts for breakfast! Wow!

But it is truly rare to find one with a staff that makes you feel truly welcome. At home. Part of a family. This is one of those oh-so-rare finds, and I simply cannot speak highly enough of it. To start, I'll run down the basics. It is a small hotel with joust 9 rooms, although 10 more will be built shortly. The focal point is the main building, which is a beautiful ancient villa that *still* belongs to a Baron. The 9 rooms surround the villa, each with a beautiful patio area facing out to the villa gardens -- spectacular, indeed! The rooms are somewhat spartan, but in a positive sense. perhaps "understated" is the better word to describe them. They are decorated very nicely with Sicilian country style in mind. Amenities: The entire property has excellent WIFI, full satellite television with English channels, air conditioning in all rooms, etc. etc. Nothing is lacking. The main villa is the central location, which is where the reception is, as well as the restaurant and breakfast room. And breakfast is absolutely excellent!!! Fresh pastries, cookies, salamis, cheese, cakes, you name it. One interesting note is the coffee. The manager of the hotel used to live in the states, and has an affinity for American coffee. If you are looking for American coffee, this may be one of the few places in Sicily where you can get the real thing. He has a true American *professional* drip coffee maker, and imports "Chock full o'Nuts" coffee! I didn't ave any, since I still prefer my espresso in the morning, but it looked just right! OK, so that is the place. I started this review talking about the people, so I will get to that. Massimo, the manager, is one of the most hospitable people I have ever met in my life. I watched as he interacted with all of his guests, and he is a master at making them feel like each is the most important guest he has ever had. It's the kind of thing you just cannot fake. He was born to do this! But what really shines was the staff as a whole. They all interact as a big family. They are more than co-workers, and I saw how ALL of them brought all of the hotel guests into their family. Guests dining with staff, playing around, etc. There was no sense that you were in a hotel. It was like being part of the family here, and that counts big time! In closing this review, I would like to address one last thing. If you a re looking at hotels, you may notice this is a "Three Star" hotel. Honestly, it was very puzzling. The star rating system in Europe is very misleading. I have seen many 5 star hotels that cannot hold a candle to this place, so if you are concerned that it has three stars, please know that the stars are meaningless. Emilio was nice and helpful when needed. We ate breakfast there one day and he said don't worry about paying, which was generous! Downside is booking.com said there was parking, but there was only free street parking. It was available most of the time, but not the easiest. I'd imagine many foreign drivers might struggle with the very narrow roads and tight parking, but alas, that's Italy! The shower was super annoying that it wouldn't stay on the wall and you had to hold it. The door lock was a little sketchy... I'm guessing all the rooms had the same old fashioned key, which is a little scary. The safe in the closet could literally be lifted out, making it completely useless. A five to ten minute walk to everything in town.

We could tell no one is used to seeing tourists there, but they were all friendly and happy to see us. The piazza gets packed on Saturday nights. The local restaurants are fantastic and much cheaper than in the big cities...and the service is much better in my opinion. Now for A Mo Casa. The place looks brand new. Marco said they added the first floor about 3 years ago and the top floor last year. The hotel has relaxing patios on both sides on the top floor where Marco also puts out the breakfast in the mornings...croissants, juice, yogurt, fresh coffee (made to order), etc. The top floor rooms have a bit lower ceilings at the outside of the room and bathroom, but just watch your head in those areas. Most of the room is plenty high for even taller individuals. This is a historic building and is a quirk and not a drawback. You won't be ducking all over the room, just over by the door to the balconies. The bed was comfortable, the shower had a rainfall shower head, the wall had the local Comiso stone, the room was clean and updated with much attention to detail...even with an outlet at the head of the bed and lights in the floor. The balconies have sitting areas that are great for having a cappuccino and looking at the rooftops of the city or the church next door. Looking forward to seeing Comiso again and staying at A Mo Casa. You can park the car and walk to everything including Cava Grazia down the street. The piazza is a half a block. Marco was a great host, and he even used family mementos to decorate, but you probably won't know unless you ask. He had his first bike in the office...cute little touring bike for kids. I'd never seen one before and asked about it. The entire place is immaculate, and Marco really did an amazing job designing his bed and breakfast.
