Michael Hanks is a powerhouse preacher and is the type of shepherd that truly cares about people. I was treated with such kindness. After the service it wasn't like other churches where they shake your hand and usher you to your vehicle, it was the opposite. I was welcomed into what is know as the VIP room to meet with Pastor Hanks and they gave me some really thoughtful gifts to welcome me to the church and thank me for coming. I can say without a doubt that when I'm in Ceres this is the church I will attend.

Many kind and good people all looking for God's love and all struggling with the vagarities of life. As I continued my "church search" I wanted to visit my old postal area from 30 years ago. I was then, and continue to be, a mail carrier. So I drove to my old route; Maze, 1st thru 3rd, Washington etc. And started looking for a black church. I was told there was a large one on I street. It was early and no services yet. I actually wanted a chuch closer to my old area. Hoping to maybe see some of my former patrons. The new manager at CVS said he didn't know of a black church but he'd look on his phone while I picked up a little something. He found that there was a church at 710 Martin Luther King Blvd...how fitting. Being an experienced mailperson. I belined it to the address. Only to see not a church like the others, but a small house with a tiny parking lot. I didn't notice that the Church's name had African in it, but I didn't figure in that part of town it was going to be filled with white people anyway :) I saw a black man standing in the doorway so I stopped and parked the car in the empty lot. By the time I got to the door it was closed. So I went ahead and softly knocked and after a few seconds was told to come in. There were four people there. Although not recognized, I not only was immediately welcomed and introduced but I knew I had found what I had been looking for. My "church search" was over, I had found my home. I knew God had directed me to that church. I explained my postal reason for being there and sat down. Over the next couple of hours I was blessed to meet some wonderful and righteous brothers and sisters. I saw the best and most heartfelt sermon I had ever seen in all of my 65 years. Bless you and thank you Reverand Shirley Rance-Taylor. I sang church songs and was blessed to be asked to join their choir. I prayed with my newfound brothers and sister's and stongly felt the Holy Spirit present. Special thanks to Mrs. Arsie Anderson for being my mentor and guide that day to Sister Ella for being my mentor and guide that Easter Sunday. What a wonderful blessing to have her at my side. I also want to say thank you and acknowledge Bother Jason Chinnis, Sister Tiffany, Brother Robie Hull, Brother Daryl and Mrs.Camp, Sister Cushberry, Brother Ronald Weatherly, Brother Anthony Spears and Sister Chinnis. They all welcomed me with open arms and the love of Christ and the Holy Spirit. I also want to give thanks to Richard "Dik" Green, one of the greatest men I've ever known, for helping to lead me to this wonderful House of Worship. May god bless this church and all the wonderful people I met that Easter Sunday in the year of our Lord 2015.

The people are warm and welcoming. Beautiful sanctuary to worship in. Wonderful Youth Leader for all ages with weekly gatherings and activities. There are also several Bible Study groups and social groups to be apart of. It is one of the few churches that still has a choir and hand bells. Lots of opportunities to get involved in if that is what you are looking for. There is a prayer team to pray with you anytime. Can't say enough about this church.
