My husband and I dedicated our little girl here when she was 6months. Old. My husband and I reconciled here as well. I am very attached to this church. God has changed me , rocked me , transformed me and keeps doing his good work in me. I started coming here in 2013- I still absolutely love this church after 5 years. Here I am ....the sermons, pastors, the worship team, the atmosphere, they are all about prayer, fasting which is so powerful, being unified and they care about the members. I love that they not only have Sunday services, but everyday of the week something is always going on... Woman classes, men, couple, youth camps and more. I enjoy the married/ couple meetings on Sundays at 9 am "Family Strong" awesome Pastor Tom teaches it. love attending the services and classes when I am visiting family in The Modesto area. The Holy Spirit Rocks me each time I come! Even when I watch on Youtube or watch the channel on stream TV. Well, with that said No other church is like TheHouseModesto. I am a Christian and I'm homeless 2 years ago it was 110° I was parked across the street at a park…read moreburning up having a heat stroke living in my car at the time with my husband of 38 years being a fellow Christian I saw that they had a water hose in front of the building I went on to the property I went to my father's house or they are the stewards I used the water hose to cool myself down and my little dog I wasn't there no longer than 5 minutes put it back where I found it and left I was halfway back to my car when a loud speaker went off said the police have been called I was in violation of being on their property I was embarrassed I was humiliated I ran to my car and I hid and the police showed up with him 5 minutes and they drove all around looking for me I suppose I was sickened all I could think about was jesus's words when they met him and he said get away from me I do not know you and they all said you know me Lord you know me I'm a good guy I prayed I did everything I supposed to around your church and he's going to say I was thirsty and you did not give me water and they will take me you never saw you and he's going to tell him so if you did not do this for one of your brothers or sisters you did not do it for me that's what I think of when I think of this church and it breaks my heart my husband and I have gone there many times for the free food that they give away problem with that being not once did they ever ask us to come to their church not once did they ask if we were need a prayer not once they ask if it knew the Lord Jesus Savior of our lives have you asked him to come into our heart never asked us if we needed a Bible never gave me a little pamphlet in the food they gave us let's talk about the food they give us we're homeless what are we going to do with rice and beans no way to cook it it's useless they give lots of food to those that they know lots of food no not so much have a big old tables full of desserts we think oh wow that's great and we're going to get something you know halfway decent have all this no we're lucky if you get two bites out of the littlest sometimes mildew sometimes hard as a rock who the slept over for those that are like us I suppose I'm ashamed of that church I have lost every single person in my life that love me my mother my father my sister grandparents three best friends my cousin they're all gone there's no one left to remember my memories but me my story my life is out of jobs do I curse God no do I blame God no do I love God with all my heart yes I do I believe in Jesus with all my heart is he my best friend you bet he is does this give me a bad look on all Christians of course not of course not Jesus tells us the path to heaven is very narrow and very few make it through the path to hell is wide and many cross through it is what it is they are as Paul speaks to in the book of Revelation to the churches that are wax cold that are not doing what they're supposed to be doing that is what this church reminds me of

It is a larger…read morechurch than I was used to, but the Word of God came alive for me and would answer questions I didn't even realize I had struggled with. Pastor Damian's teaching style of going thru each verse of the a book of the Bible helps me understand scripture more, especially when I take notes and review them over the week, praying and asking the Lord to speak to my heart thru His Word and help transform my mind. I LOVE the transparency of the Pastors who are teaching, reminding us that they struggle and are still growing to become more like Christ, from the pulpit. We are ALL sinners saved by Grace thru the blood of Jesus. I am also Thankful for the Body of Christ, who attend. People who attend are kind & friendly, but it can be easy to be new, come and go and not feel connected. However when I started serving & getting involved, I began to feel more connected. I started attending the Women's Ministry on Wednesday nights and eventually my husband & I attended the marrieds group. The marrieds group helped me cultivate friendships. I LOVE Serving the Body and Growing in God's Word at Calvary Chapel Modesto. By the way, the Children's Ministry is Dynamic. I was amazed when I helped at VBS and saw all that went into it. It is such a fun week for kids and I wish my kids could have experienced this every summer when they were young. They now help serve at it with me.

I was involved in a situation with someone the church hired that caused real harm. What has stayed with me isn't just what happened (which never should have been overlooked by so many people) but the complete lack of accountability afterward. There was no acknowledgment, no apology, and no indication that anyone cared about the damage that had been done. That silence has stayed with me and made it incredibly difficult to feel safe or welcome in any church or Christian community since. I also came away feeling like the leadership didn't truly know or invest in the people sitting in the pews. A church should be a community where people are known, valued, and cared for, not just faces in a crowd. On top of that, this is an extremely cliquey church. I spent years trying to build friendships and get involved, only to feel invisible. It genuinely felt like I didn't matter to the church or to the people in it. This may not be everyone's experience, but it was mine, and I think it's important to share for those seeking a genuinely safe and attentive faith community. I think I'd be in a completely different place in life if people would have done their part to make me feel welcomed and safe, especially after an incredibly damaging situation that I still haven't recovered from.

On Sept 7, 2025, I arrived early at the Ceres campus to help set up for service. Later that month, on Sept 21, I was told by campus leadership that I was being asked not to attend further and could face trespass if I returned, even though I had not caused any disruption or misconduct. I asked for an impartial review of this decision but have not received one. It has been discouraging after years of faithful attendance and connection to this church. My hope is that leadership will prioritize fairness and transparency when making decisions that affect members' ability to worship in community. No church member should ever fear trespass for showing up to worship.

While the congregation has a strong foundation of longtime members, it's been really special to see more young families joining in recent years--something I think is beautifully supported by the heart and leadership of the pastors. The worship is simple, but truly meaningful--focused, reverent, and uplifting in a way that feels authentic every week.
