Today, Saturday, October 24, 2026 we got the opportunity to tour The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Modesto California Temple. It's open for a few weeks this month for all of the public to view. Tours are free and so is parking. Tickets are not necessary. Check their website for hours. They are open all days with the exception of Sundays. We came the 2nd weekend in hopes that the crowds would die down. The hype is still here.
We arrived at 10:30am and we stood inline for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Before you enter they put shoe covers on you to protect the beautiful rugs and white carpets. There is no hardwood floors. The tour was self guided and lasted around 20 minutes. They had signs inside so you know what each room is being used for.
My favorite room was the Sealing room. I loved the eternity Mirrors. They have 2 mirrors facing each other so you the view continues to duplicate itself so it looks like you are looking into eternity. The room it's self was beautifully decorated with beautiful fabrics and clean cushy white carpet. The room is used for marriages that last for time and all eternity. Not just till death do you part, but forever. In this life and the next.
Another favorite room is the baptistery. They have a huge baptism font, the size of a small hot tub and just as deep. There are steps into it with railings so you can enter at your own pace and don't just have to jump in. The baptismal font rests on the backs of 12 oxen, following a tradition that dates back to Solomon's Temple as recorded in the Old Testament. What I really loved was the tiles on the floor, there is a ribbon of water flowing through the room. It's part of the border and reminds me of Psalms and all the imagery of water that is talked about in the book of Psalms.
If you haven't taken a public tour yet, there is still time: Tours are from Friday, October 16-Saturday, October 31, 2026 (excluding Sundays). If you miss the tour you can still go inside to the waiting area and get a small glimpse inside. It's a great place to go to meditate, pray, and find a little peace.
