I worked through the MBB course alongside my doulas during my most recent pregnancy. We met each week to go over the chapters they assigned, and I am so grateful for the experience it provided. The education in this program made a huge impact on my birth experience, and the meeting helped my work through my previous birth traumas from my first borns birth. I went into this pregnancy wanting a completely different experience than my first. I had previously had a C-section, and my hope was to have a natural birth and avoid another cesarean recovery--but I didn't even know if that was possible. Through my doulas, I learned about VBAC and finally felt empowered to explore that option. Because I have hip dysplasia, I was hesitant and unsure if my body would allow it. From the very beginning, they offered support, knowledge, and reassurance that helped me feel confident and open-minded to try something new, knowing I wouldn't be alone no matter how things unfolded. Despite the challenges I faced--including a 36-hour labor and moments where my hip dysplasia became difficult again--they were there every step of the way. They provided constant reassurance, emotional support, and hands-on physical comfort through massage and positioning that I truly couldn't imagine laboring without. In the end, I achieved my goal of a natural birth--something I never thought was possible. If I could go back, I would absolutely have hired a doula for my first birth as well. Not only did they support me, but they were also an incredible support system for my husband, guiding him on how to best help me and ensuring we were both nourished, informed, and prepared. Their care didn't stop after birth. Because I had challenges with breastfeeding, they made sure I received the lactation support I needed, while also checking in on both me and my baby. They truly went the extra mile to make sure I felt confident, supported, and cared for in those early postpartum days. Knowledge truly is power, and having that made all the difference. As first-time parents, we of course had a lot of questions! MBB's team provided the knowledge, support, and care we didn't even realize we needed. We were a Kaiser patient and from the very beginning, their training sessions were thorough and reassuring. They helped us feel more prepared and confident for labor and delivery than the Kaiser classes alone. Our baby arrived four weeks early, and despite the surprise timing, the team was easily reachable and dispatched a doula who was right there calm, steady, and supportive during our birth. Her presence made a world of difference in helping us understand our options and making the experience positive. After delivery, we encountered some unexpected challenges with nursing. The team's incredible lactation consultant stepped in and was an absolute game-changer. She was kind, patient, and SO knowledgeable. She quickly recognized that our baby had a tongue tie, something that hadn't been caught in the hospital. I wanted my first birthing experience to be easy on me mentally and emotionally and I also wanted to be informed about what my options were to have that. All I knew about birth was what friends and family shared. But I didn't just want to follow blindly and so I searched and found these amazing ladies and I learned so much in the Lamaze classes my husband and I took. And their personal experiences too. My birthing experience did not go like I had imaged or had planned but when the time came where my husband and I were literally scared and did not know what was going on, especially me, Regina (and I will never forget this) stood by me as I cried from being scared, alone, confused, and feeling like my body was failing me. I didn't even have to speak for her to know what I was feeling. She said "You are strong and you did everything you could. Your body did not fail you. " And I just remember holding onto her hand so tight. During this time my husband was being pushed out of the room by nurses so having Regina with me during this unexpected moment helped me feel safe. In addition to all of Regina's support, Brooke also helped me with my tens unit by bringing it to the hospital. The unit helped me a lot during my contractions. After everything Corine and Sheila came to meet my baby Leo at home and checked in on me and my husband. I wish I could give more details but I could write a book about this experience alone lol. All I know is that even though my birth did not go how I wanted having their support and also the knowledge from the classes made it bearable Thank you so much ladies for what you do. MBB was there when I needed support the most. I ended up needing a doula last minute and the team so flexible, informative, and accommodating. I was able to have the unmedicated birth I wanted knowing there was someone knowledgeable who could advocate for me. When I was pregnant and prepping for labor, I wanted to make sure I had the best resources and advocates by my side. Being that this was my first pregnancy, I knew that I had to be ready for anything. Hiring MBB was the best decision because their classes gave my husband and I the foundation of knowledge on how to prep for labor. Their approach is to share information based on their wealth of knowledge so that we could make our own decisions based on what I was comfortable with. My goal was to give birth without drugs at the hospital and bond with the baby immediately. When my contractions started at home, I was able to call my doula team and they guided me though the contractions over the phone and virtually to try to get through most of the early labor at home. When I was ready to go to the hospital, Sophia was there by my side and helped me get through the labor without an epidural. It felt so empowering to get though the labor without drugs and was also helpful to have Sophia by my side to advocate for me when nurses kept checking on me. It was also so helpful to have Sophia take photos and videos of my baby's birth so we can really all be in the moment together. I had did end up having to go into an emergency OR to get my placenta removed manually after the birth and I can't thank Sophia enough for staying by my baby and husband's side. She helped them have skin to skin contact together and guided my husband while I was in the operating room. I would highly recommend having MBB by your side for your next pregnancy. I hired Modesto Birth & Beyond for their overnight doula services so I could get a bit more sleep a couple nights per week. They do a great job of getting to know you and your family's needs beforehand and you meet everyone before the services begin. The doulas are always willing to help with the baby's laundry or cleaning bottles and will even log feeds and diaper changes if you want. They even answered some of the lactation or sleep questions I had. Every doula was friendly, kind, did a great job taking care of my baby while I slept. The owners were flexible with extending my service after our contract ran out and always had a doula available for the nights I needed. I would hire them again in a heartbeat! read more

I won a Lamaze class during my third pregnancy. At first we felt a little funny going to Lamaze class when we were parents of 2 girls already- but we figured since we won the class and I was going to attempt a vaginal birth after 2 cesareans, we would give it a try. Where do I start? Well...this team is simply beyond incredible. The knowledge they have on birth/newborn care + what they have taught is worth it ALL. I would give a 10 star - if that was possible. During my pregnancy the courses/classes they continue to teach + offered were extremely helpful! They were even fun! My hubby + I looked forward to them each time. Almost as a date night! Haha. We honestly walked out feeling SO confident in what we had learned + how to apply the material. I did NOT go into birth scared but absolutely ready to take it on. Which was not what I expected!! I cannot recommend these ladies enough, I dubbed them the Doulí (as there's two of them). This was my first birth experience but my wife's third, I didn't even know this role existed so I was a skeptical about paying for someone to be there when there are doctors & nurses etc. All I can say is don't be! These lady's met with us long before the actual birth gave us soooo much great information and resources, trained both of us on various stretches and positions that really helped my wife and me during the later stages of the pregnancy and were so helpful with any questions we had, they were always on the end of the phone or text. I am so grateful to Modesto Birth and Beyond for their classes and doula services. I did not have a doula during my first labor and delivery. My pregnancy was wonderful but the labor and delivery process was difficult and left me feeling traumatized. When I found out I was pregnant for a second time, I was anxious about having a similar experience. I decided that I needed doula services. I am so happy we had Sheila and Brooke this time around. Their classes were informative and full of practical tips. Their communication during early labor was amazing and I was able to implement all their tips from home. With their support, I labored from a comfortable setting, and called them when I needed extra support. Sheila was incredible in helping me through each contraction. She helped my husband find ways to support me when it was difficult to vocalize my needs. While I considered the possibility of not getting an epidural, due to my previous experience of it failing, I never said that I would have an unmedicated birth. I know women who have but I honestly did not think that I would be able to do without any pain medication. This time, when we got to hospital and it was too late to have one and I am happy about that. MBB gave me the knowledge, advice, and support to make it through my labor and delivery without any medical interventions, including pain meds, and I was left feeling empowered and proud of myself. My husband and I decided to go with MBB based on online reviews and a friend's experience - and we're so glad we did. The classes were informative and interactive and we left feeling like we had learned a lot. While my birth experience didn't go as planned, and a doula could not be present (unplanned c-section), we were offered several nights of their postpartum services and it was exactly what we needed to recuperate from the birth of our daughter - so much so we had someone come several nights a week for 6 weeks. The doulas who came were so caring and always asked how I was doing. I trusted them in our home and, most importantly, with my baby. It was such a weight off our shoulders to have someone help in the middle of the night, which gave us a chance to get some much needed sleep. My husband and I originally just signed up for the three part lamaze series. After our first class, we both decided it would be best to hire them as our doula during labor. I am beyond thankful we made that decision. Corinne showed up at the hospital minutes after we arrived. I was in so much pain that I felt as if I was paralyzed. Corinne's soft voice and nature was the only thing that got me up and moving in different positions when it mattered the most. She pushed me in the best way possible, and I attribute going from 6cm to 8.5cm in an hour all to her! The next doula that came to help was Jamie, and truly, I attribute my baby being born to her! At the very end, in those final pushes, I felt as if my body couldn't do it. Jamie looked me in the eyes, and so confidently and calmly she said "Let's have this baby." It snapped me back to reality, I focused, and pushed as hard as I could one final time, and we had that baby! These two women are my angel's. I will forever be grateful to them and God for putting these amazing women in my pregnancy journey. Aside from birth, MBB has been so helpful even postpartum. Any questions or support I need they are just a phone call or text away. Prior to the home birth of our son, we had 2 educational sessions with them that covered everything from anatomy to what we can expect during labor. Everything was evidenced based and well researched. They answered all of our questions thoroughly and never made us feel "inferior", which is awesome for first time parents. They really shined during my wife's labor as they were great cheerleaders and helped my wife be as comfortable as possible during her 27 hour or so, labor. The childbirth education classes were very informational and we learned things that you don't really know as new parents. The classes covered labor, childbirth, and newborn care. I found Sheila June 2019 through our doula search and hired her shortly after. We had just found out we were pregnant and wasn't due until late January 2020 but knew we wanted a doula. This was our second birth and first VBAC attempt. My husband and I both met Sheila in July and knew she was the doula for us. She was kind, welcoming, and just a breath of fresh air. You knew she was well educated and informed on all things birth. I knew I would feel secure laboring with her by my side. We met Brooke and she was just as amazing as Sheila. We were blessed to know we had two amazing doulas by our side. I was induced so when it was time they would take shifts relieving one another, which was amazing because it was a long process! They both brought a sense of peace and calm into the room. They knew when different techniques would be beneficial and when it was best just to rest! My husband wasn't so sure at the initial idea of a doula but when it came to game day... he will say he would hire them again and again and couldn't imagine them not being there! They provide such a strong sense of support with just their presence alone. They helped us feel confident in our decisions and requests. Knowing we had a VOICE this time and making sure it was heard. It was a empowering experience. We ended up having a c section as the cord was wrapped around the baby but our labor was beautiful it brought my husband and I together, unlike our labor with our first. Sheila and Brooke made the birth of our first baby such a positive experience. Brooke was great during the prenatal period; she answered all of our questions and informed us of what to expect during labor, delivery, and postpartum. She made sure I was doing my prenatal exercises early on, and I believe the exercises helped my labor/delivery progress quickly. We had Sheila as our birth doula and she was amazing! From the moment she arrived at our home she had a calming and nurturing presence. She knew exactly what to do to keep me (and my husband) relaxed through some very difficult double-peaking contractions. Being first time parents, we had no idea when we should leave for the hospital. Sheila got us to the hospital right in time for pushing...I was SO glad I was able to labor so long at home! Our sweet baby girl was born two hours after arriving at the hospital. Having Sheila there took a ton of pressure off of my husband, he was able to focus on providing emotional support which I loved.
