This is an excellent company with whom to do business. I have found them to operate with the highest standards of honesty and integrity. I do not personally know, nor to my knowledge, I am not related to anyone in this company. My first experience with Modern & Anderson Services was following years of A/C repairs performed by a subcontractor who installed two AC units into my new home. The subcontractor also provided preventive maintenance for years, but no lasting resolution to AC failures occurred, and reoccurred. I was repeatedly advised I was experiencing power surges, even though the house was wired with power surge protection and the AC failures did not always correlate to electrical storms. I had the power surge protection checked and it was operating correctly. With the next AC failure, I contacted Modern & Anderson Services. They responded the day I called and identified that the AC units were incorrectly wired into the fuse boxes. They re-wired the units. I requested they also conduct an assessment of the HVAC system and they identified I had inadequate airflow in two areas of the home. I contracted with them to add additional vents. They completed the work when scheduled, left the property exactly as they found it, and the cost of work was exactly as quoted. I inquired if they had preventive maintenance program and contracted for their Home Service Plan. The plan I selected includes twice a year preventive maintenance for both AC units, as well as other house wide service. In three years of working with Modern Services I have experienced no AC breakdowns/repairs. Additionally, they initiate calls for appointments for preventive maintenance, and coordinate other services provided by the contract as needed. This year I requested a service, which I knew was not covered by my Home Service Plan, offering to pay fee for service if it could be done during a scheduled appointment. The scheduler checked to see if work requested was within the scope of expertise of the individual who would be in the home and would he the work as fee for service while there. He did and I paid an industry reasonable fee for the work. Every contact I have with Modern & Anderson Services includes providing facts and allowing me to make decisions. Throughout their work they are generous with their knowledge by educating the homeowner. I have the highest regards for this company; each and every person I have had contact with has been customer service oriented in their work. They are excellent!. read more

I have to update since this company was supposedly bought out by a company In Michigan recently. I called the main line on a Saturday around 1:47 pm I got a receptionist and discussed with him what was going on. I also proceeded to tell him since they were working on a rental please call give me all paperwork. They immediately asked for my credit card. Then around 4:30 I get a call from one of their technicians named Izzy who told me he was charging me 145$ just for the service call then $145 to diagnose and $349 for Clogged condensate Drain Line. Both my husband and I were shocked at this price! They also charged my credit card 640$ immediately which is not right! I had not even seen or received an invoice! We should've been it is price gouging !!! I called them back on Monday and spoke with a customer service manager who told me basically it is what it is here is a year of complimentary service on us. I was quoted a price for a new HVAC system, they didn't complete the installation timely. (still not done). Also are trying to charge more than the quoted price. This is to correct the install of the unit. I was misinformed by two different people so far. They refuse to make it right. They put rocks under the hurricane pad after they placed the unit. Then stacked the rocks up around the hurricane pad. Those rocks will become projectiles when a lawn mower gets next to them. I was not consulted about any possibilities of install. Luis told me people make mistakes. when I said I should not have to pay for the company's mistakes he smiled and shook his head. Standard AC check up on Monday. Technician showed problems with unit, warned of possible failure soon. Got a quote for a new 4 ton system with heat pump. Scheduled for installation next day. Next day crew arrived to install. Brought a 3 ton system. Glad I caught that. When investigating air handler, discovered that ductwork should be replaced to increase efficiency for 4 ton system. Another quote resulting in a huge total bill. Arrived Wednesday to install new ductwork and new system. 4 man crew spent 8 hours here. Thursday discovered that Modern Services had installed the wrong system. Only AC, not AC and heat pump that I had paid for. Also, Modern Service serviceman arrived to patch drywall where air handler had been. Made a mess on the garage floor. Nice patch job, but sloppy cleanup. Called Friday, explained situation. Can't do anything until Monday. Monday came, and they called and cancelled until Tuesday. Tuesday 2 man crew came 3 hours later than stated and installed proper unit. Unit a bit noisy. Crew wanted to install another return placed in dining room wall. Declined. On top of all this, we had problems getting the proper invoice that showed the work done, proper units, pricing, etc. It took three tries before it came out right. 5 months later I discover that the ultriviolet lamp system was not installed as contract stated. Called, and it was corrected. On the first cold day of the season, I turned on the heat, and NOTHING! Nothing but cold air. Called another AC service and they found that the unit was improperly wired. A link on A./H cotrol board not clipped. Reprogrammed the Tstat as well. Update, one day later. The AC failed later the same day. Another repairman came by looked at my evaporator, ran pressure tests, and said my compressor was dead. He never checked the capacitor that his teammate installed. Another 24 hours without AC an another local AC group came and confirmed they had put in an old/used capacitor which was "open" upon simple voltmeter testing. Had the first repairman checked this we would have avoided this. Had the second repairman done his due diligence to see why the compressor wasn't working, we would have avoided no AC and the stress of replacing both in and outside units (as they were suggesting). I am in the process of asking for a refund for their (lacking) service. read more

Do not use this company. Prior to buying my condo in Naples, this company came out to put in a new AC unit, the past owner obviously didn't do his homework. After the recent Hurricane, our AC would not turn on, so we called this same company since they did the original install. The quote on the phone was 112.00, once he was there, turns out it was only the thermostat. While I was not watching, the technician, Elis Quiala, put in a new thermostat and then handed me a bill for 576.00, once I complained, he said he "just realized it was the wrong part" so the new fee would be 376.00. I told him the part only cost about 26.00 at Home Depot and told him to take out the thermostat and I would do it myself. He did, my ending bill was 112.00. Watch out for this company. I purchased 2 new air conditioning units from this place in 2007 and paid a very large sum of money. I called up because both units have 10 year warranties. I learned today they do not want anything to do with me. After they get paid and riip you off they'll do not want anything to do with you. Now I have 2 units that do not work and have to spend more money out of my pocket to another company to fix the units they no longer want to warranty. I called Modern Service to set up a maintenance appointment. I paid them $200.00 in advance of the first appointment. The technician took one look at my AC unit and declared that I needed to buy a new compressor. Then he said I needed to buy a new AC since the compressor would cost close to $4000.00 He said it would cost me $12000.00 to $15000.00 for a new AC unit! I told him I did not want to buy a new unit. He said he would put a little gas in, but there was a leak that he would not be able to fix, and left. Before he left he demanded another $209.00. He was flustered and actually managed to leave all his equipment behind. Meanwhile, my house thermostat read 85 degrees inside! I called a friend who did AC work, and he came over with his AC equipment and filled my AC and fixed the leak. He charged me $383.00 to do the job. The Modern technician returned hours later asking if his equipment was left at my home. I said it was, he was very grateful. He said his boss and his wife would kill him if he lost his equipment. Needless to say, Modern Service will never hear from me again after 20 years of continued service. They are incompetent and untrustworthy. They said they had no intention of returning the additional $200.00 for the non service that was provided. Do yourself a favor and do not call these guys.If you do, you will be sorry....
