Roberto Razo is an incredible artist and a truly dope soul. I'm so grateful I got this tattoo. I was very worried going into it... It's a vision with a lot of meaning to me that's taken me many years to fully formulate... Trusting my vision to someone I never met when his execution is final is hella nerve-wracking. The price was fantastic. I felt like I got a great deal. actually think he should raise his prices. I am so in love with this tattoo. I feel like a brand new person. It feels like the thing that was missing. The atmosphere in the shop is wonderful. There's other booths, everyone's in a great mood, everyone's loving what they're doing. Everything was so comfortable. I was planning on listening to podcasts or music in my earbuds, but instead we discovered an album together that I've always loved. That was the perfect tattooing music, as so it seemed. He was loving the music, and he wasn't familiar with it, so I felt like I was giving back in a way. Air conditioned on the hottest day possible, and L.A. in August can be the surface of the sun. I'm just really grateful for everyone that I met at this company, and especially Roberto. He's literally changed me forever. I could upload a picture, but you can find me in these streets if you want to see it. read more

my tattoo wasn't done right.Came back and Rojo associated me and help me out. great guy.

First tattoo for someone that hates needles and Israel was the best. I wasn't sure how to describe exactly where I wanted my tattoo and how large but he was so patient and explained how it should be a little larger because it shrinks with time. Within 20-30minutes he was done and I couldn't be happier. Definitely will be back, I've told all my friends about this place as well. Cash only but there's an ATM inside of the bar next door. Very clean place. My tattoo healed very quick as well! Thanks Israel! read more

Love coming to this shop I've gotten two of my tattoos done here and they never disappoint!

I went in to get two Tattoos, the First one was my Dog's paw and the second one was a Letter S on my ring finger. Well the first tattoo the paw wasn't shaded in all the way it still need ink and the lines were all different shapes on one side the line was thicker and the other side was a very thin line. Once it was all healed. In which I contact the tattoo artist and he said to come back but I didn't want it to get worse than it was already. And so he gave me back half of my money back. And well for the second one it just started peeling this week and once it peeled off I saw that there wasn't even ink. I took care of it how you're supposed to take care of a tattoo. I've contact him 3 times for him to finally respond back on the third try just to tell me he doesn't refund back finger tattoo because they're different. He was just gonna give me back $5 after I told him he fucked up my second tattoo then he agreed to give me the rest of the money. In which I paid $110 for. I also, told him I was unsatisfied both of my tattoos after that went ahead and Blocked me on Instagram just because he didn't like what I told him. Also, he kept saying that he didn't want to waste his ink since he said the ink was expensive and he was also way too talkative when he tattoo's. I felt like all he cared about was not trying to use too much ink and not care about the work he was doing and The Tattoo Artist was Brandon Estrada. read more

I RECOMMEND THIS SHOP TO ANYONE! ASK FOR ISRAEL! I have gotten 2 tattoos from Israel so far and I am absolutely amazed with the way they both came out. I posted a pic of my first tattoo from him, the second will be uploaded when he completes it (only first session on it). Israel is very cool, down to earth and laid back. He definitely knows what he's doing. If you want someone professional and experienced, this is the shop to go to. Great prices for great work. Very neat and clean art. This is definitely going to be my "Go to shop". The shop itself is very clean, organized and professional. I have gone to other local shops where the staff is very unprofessional, rude, and dirty. Good vibes and good work here. Thanks again Modern Ink and THANK YOU ISRAEL! :) read more

This guy ISRAEL THE 3rd, I'm glad I found a real artist like this in my life. I started getting tattoos at a young age. My first tattoo was ugly and the second one, even worse! I'm talking I went to a couple different shops thinking that just by paying high cost I was going to get better quality... WRONG!!! My boy Israel knows his sh!t. I told him about my family and the name of my kids and my wife and he produced a masterpiece in minutes that I loved as soon as I saw it! If some one has experienced pain in the past having a tattoo with one of those fake artist, YOU HAVE TO TRY THE WAY HE MOVES HIS HAND AND YOU WILL BELIEVE ME THAT HE CAUSES A LOT LESS PAIN THAT OTHERS. I will definitely come back to cover 80 % of my body skin ‍ I RECOMMEND THIS GUY % read more

MARIO NEVER SHOWED UP! I had an appointment with Mario today but he wasn't there when I got there at 6. So I waited an hour and Mario never showed so I left. Then twenty five mins later he messaged me "I'm 20 mins away I'll go rn" and so I went again and waited for him ANOTHER HOUR and he never showed up AGAIN. I wasted 2 hours waiting for him to show up. He finally messaged me at 9 pm saying he ways there. He never apologized to me or anything. This was so unprofessional and very upsetting. He just made himself and his business look bad. He could have simply rescheduled and done it another day and not have wasted my time like that. read more

It was my bad for not taking the reviews seriously...walked in and it smelled more like a dispensary than a tattoo/piercing studio. And that might explain why I paid $100 for a double nose piercing that ended up completely crooked and asymmetric. Like not even a little it looks so bad, which may explain why they didn't have too many mirrors.. Definitely going to have to get it fixed somewhere else...sigh. read more

I am not going to lie I was skeptical about going here seeing all the bad reviews by others about piercings but I decided to give it a shot. Got a nose ring by marisol! Best experience ever! This place is terrible. If I could give less than one star I would. I went in yesterday 05/04/21 to get the helix, industrial, and nose piercings. Not only did the guy NOT sanitize the areas, he did not even do the industrial piercing correctly. He told me to face one way and marked me and did it without asking if that's where I wanted it. Also he had done the helix piercing with my hair in it!!! He tried to charge me more than what he had said and I had to show him his own prices for him. I've gotten this piercing before but I had to take it off for school. I ended up having to get it removed the next day 5/5/21. My ear was swollen and turning purple. When I had asked for a refund for at least that piercing he said no. That he had given it to the boss and then refused to give me the boss' number. Then I asked for the manager and he said he's his own manager. And still refused to refund me. As he was removing the piercing he even made the comment stating that my ear looked bad and that he would do the piercing again for me. But he was going to charge me still. I ended up telling him that no and that I'm not going to come back. He has poor customer service and is shady. My sisters also got piercings from him the same day I went. He didn't even put in the piercings right because my little sisters piercing came off in the store and Had fallen on the floor and she was bleeding. She had told him about it and he was going to put it back and she had to remind him again to sanitize. He then said "oh yeah that's right" wtf do you mean oh yeah that's right. Customers go in there putting their trust in the employees that their going to be clean. Very disgusted. If this is deleted, be sure that I will repost it again. read more

Never going back to this shop again. The first time i went there I got a piercing and a tattoo. The piercing looked okay even though they didn't tell me how to take care of it. But the tattoo faded away easily and was disappointed. I gave the shop another chance and took my cousin and I to make a tattoo appt. and we made it a week before getting it and he said he would have the design ready and everything. The day of the tattoo he had lost the pictures and did the design minutes before doing it on us. My cousin wanted a full moon and it did not look at all the same. It just looked like a circle with spots. I let him know and he told me that that was his work and there was nothing he could do about it. I was very respectful to him but i wont be going there again. read more

If I could give this place a 0 I would. I had done one side of my nose piercing somewhere else and I wanted to get my other side of my pierced and it was soooo uneven I went back to tell him and he tells me that the he can match the one he did on the one someone else did but I told I don't like how he did his it was so close to nose bridge and he said that if I take it out it's my choice that work is ok that I can get my jewelry and he will match the one made like wthhhhh why couldn't he just frame the one he did and match my other side. He said if I take it out he'll charge me again and 40$ for a nose piercing. Just don't come here! Save your coins. read more

If I could give this a negative review I would over and over. Walked in and was greeted with "piercing?" We said yes and he pulled her to the back, she was done in less than 5 minutes. He didn't give any instructions or reassurance about all the blood. He didn't show her the outcome, just asked for payment and goodbye. This was her first experience and it was traumatizing because of him. After, he immediately grabbed his stuff and left in his dumbass car. Clearly he was in a rush; we had rather him say he was unavailable. He needs to do better or fired immediately. Her pain and tears in her eyes makes me so furious and I know he saw her. read more

So I didn't want to write this review but I MUST because it's bothering me so much. I came in on Monday July 9th, 2018 to get my inverse vertical labret (Ashley piercing). I believe his name was Mario. I came w my sister so she can watch the whole thing and he hesitated to let her in, and that was already fishy to me because I mean I've got serval piercings before from other shops and never cared for someone to come in and watch. but anyway he ended up letting her watch, as I'm sitting there about to get my piercing he had marked it too high (I believe) so I told him a little more centered on my lip... as he was about to pierce my lip he didn't use the clamp, he then tried to put the piercing in and the needle came out before the piercing went all the way through because "I moved" when I really just flinched...so I just felt him tugging on my lip for a cool while I was literally about to pass out, and he saw me get pale and told me to lay back for a sec until I felt better, so since he couldn't get the piercing to go through he had to get the needle again and pierce it AGAIN. (MIND THE FACT I WAS ABOUT TO PASS OUT) I let him do his thing again, this time using the clamp and he got the piercing through. So I walk out without even looking at it because of how shitty I felt. Get home to it being TOO low and it's crooked it's not even straight. the bar he put was too short and it's been sinking into my lip because how SWOLLEN my lip got. Texted and called today to see if I can come in to get it changed out to a longer bar and he couldn't even msg me when he got to the shop. So I got it changed out myself!!!! Such a bad experience I should've done a little more research, I'm extremely unsatisfied w my experience. Especially bcz I paid $50 wish I could've have a 5 Star. ‍ read more

The bald one didn't mark my sisters nose with a marker and she hates the piercing!! When she asked him to mark it so she can see the placement all he said was "Trust me" The piercing is way too low for her and you can see the other end of the piercing out her nostril!! So I got my first tattoo EVER today done by Roberto. I was actually trying to go on March 13th for the Friday the 13th deal but I had no cash prepared so I decided to wait til today after work. Given the current pandemic crisis happening right now he was only taking appointments but he was available for walkins to talk quotes. I came in ready with a picture of the tattoo I wanted and he gladly did it for me within a matter of 20mins. I was hella nervous that it would hurt but it was nothing (sternum tat)!! He was calm and reassured me that it wouldn't hurt. He talked me through the whole process and explained what he was using. I was out of there in no time. He of course told me about aftercare and I walked out super happy and satisfied. Highly recommend Roberto if you're looking to get a tat. Definitely coming back to get more pieces done. read more

Went for spur of the moment ear piercing back in March 2021 and it was a horrible experience. Granted times of covid-19 you can't let a bunch of people back there but this gave an opportunity for inexperienced piercing to happen. It was 3 of us that day...no paperwork to sign, no checking of IDs, a bit sketch... I wanted to get the helix pierced instead it was positioned incorrectly near the snug but not quite, not allowing my piercing to heal as it was pierced in the wrong place in an odd crease of my ear where the backing of any earring was rubbing against my skin which became an open wound. Had to take out what seems close to a nail the guy used (Yea odd screw not quite an earring the guy used) bc it wasn't healing right. I was in pain. I tried for a month and a half and nope didn't heal right, pain was getting worse. Don't come here for piercings! Also I ain't against smoking some of that good ish but not on the job! Don't know if that had something to do with the impaired piercing! Speaking only on piercings here. read more

These ink matters are the best. I initially had my tat done by Isreal. He replicated my father's brand perfectly. I then went back one month later for touch up done by Robert and he did a magnificent job, at no additional charge. I absolutely love my tattoo and I plan on going back and having tattoo rejuvenation done on one of my older tattoos that has faded (from a different shop.) I definitely will have Robert do the tat work because he has a very light hand and it hardly feels like you're getting the needles put inside you. He was very nice and pleasant to talk to and quick in his work. In addition I healed up quite nicely. My daughter got her nose pierced as well, she is very pleased and the price was half the cost what I paid in another state. So thank you guys for the great work and we love ya. read more
