Just the fact that he was more than willing to go the extra mile for me speaks volume about Gustavo's services!!

This is…read moreone of the most professional and clean salons I have been to and I am so glad I found this place when I moved to Philly. My stylist is Bintuo and she is very sweet and does a great job with my hair. I've had her do my Box braids, Senegalese twists, Kinky twists, Crochet braids, and Marley twists. She also works with your schedule and is very timely. ( No 10 hour braiding sessions, I just don't have the time or patience for that). I also appreciate her professionalism. She doesn't chat on the phone the entire time or stop braiding in the middle and ask me to pay, or have me hold her messy cheese curl eating child. Yes, I've experienced those things from other salons (craziness) so this place is truly a breath of fresh air. I've recommended 2 friends and my sister and they all loved their hair as well. Next style I'll be getting is Marley locs. Can't wait Now go try braid masters :)

Didn't get an answer so waited an additional 5 mins and called back. This time I got someone on the line that advised they were in the salon and I informed them I had been there waiting outside since 8:50 for a 9am appointment. I was asked whom I was getting serviced by and I couldn't remember the name but my service. The young lady told me who the stylist was but that she wasn't in yet and offered to call the stylist to check on her arrival. I was called back so that I could get washed and conditioned as the stylist was traveling to the salon. Pause: in a service industry, a paying client is NEVER to wait for a stylist to arrive. This stylist was over 30 mins late in the end. Not a good first impression in addition to waiting in my car for employees to arrive. Ending. My hair looked beautiful. However service took 5 hours for a sew-in of 2 bundles. Not the best timing on any day.

Maria was my hairdresser; she is super sweet, easy to talk to, got what I wanted on the first try when I went to try out styles, and seemed just as excited as my mom. She did a fantastic job the morning of, my hair stayed perfectly in place the whole day with the help of 80 (yes I counted) bobby pins, and she even snuck upstairs while we were taking pictures to take one of her own. The prices were reasonable, in the I-never-do-this-and-what-the-hell-it's-my-wedding-day kind of way. They also had a makeup artist that came in that morning and did a really great job with me, both mothers, and both sisters. My mom now goes to Maria to get her hair cut and she does a really great job. Much love! =)

Express Hair Extensions is everything ! Honest to God. All my life I have been trying to find a…read morestylist that gets me and Claudia at Express definitely does. Let's start with the salon...Getting your hair done isn't just about the hair it is also about the experience; which is why I drive from Jersey ! The salon is beautiful and it feels super comfortable. There is usually always music playing which adds to the general ambience . The overall decor of the salon is chic adding an essence of glamour to the service. Now to the hair... I received a versatile sew in . Claudia was very thorough. She took time to discuss my hair habits and made sure I was comfortable and aware of everything she was doing to or putting in my hair . I have a lot of hair and Claudia took her time getting through my hair and made sure to be attentive to my wants. The versatile was the by far the best I have ever received. I put my hair in buns and ponytails (tight and messy) . I have worn my hair both straight and curly as well. I have never had to hide or pin down any of the tracks in my hair. I also went back for a maintenance and came out looking just as good as I did after the first install. I am very critical of salons so take my word, Express and Claudia are legit ! **Whips hair back and forth***

What I will say was that the stylist was very nice, friendly and personable. However, the…read moreexperience and end result was not worth the money for the following reasons: 1. I made an appointment in advance, new customer. When I arrived it took a few minutes for anyone to even acknowledge that I was there (even though the space is open concept, it's pretty obvious when someone enters and it wasn't busy). Once I was acknowledged, I let them know that I had made an appointment ahead of time. However, I still ended up waiting nearly an hour to be seated and serviced. 2. I had a lace wig installation. The knots needed to be bleached and washed which was done in the salon. However when it came time to install there was no effort made to blow the hair out (I could hear the hair sizzling all throughout as the stylist skipped that step and went straight to flat iron -- after mentioning that she would blow it out once it came out of the dryer and the lace was dry). Once installed and flat ironed, the ends were not trimmed and the hairline of the wig was basically in the middle of my forehead (despite me providing feedback that I thought it was way too far down from my natural hairline, she insisted on keeping it as is). The most unnatural installation ever. But at this point I had already been there for hours and was ready to go... 3. After paying the $150, I ended up actually going home (I had been there for excess of 3 hours at that point, 1 of which was spent waiting to be serviced although I had an appointment) and fixing it myself (trimmed the ends, blew it out, took more than 5 minutes to properly flat iron the unit, and removed and reinstalled it to reflect a more natural hairline). The reason why I went to the salon in the first place was to receive a professional service, and not have to spend the time doing the install myself. The end result (before I fixed it to make it at least presentable) was nothing like the pictures you see on Instagram. Highly disappointed. It's not even been a week and I'm already onto the next hairstyle (this is coming out) Although the end result was not what I expected, I will reiterate that the stylist was extremely nice, it's not a personal knock on her or anyone else in the salon. But I think that more care should be taken to ensure a quality outcome.
