Went to mode many times during my stay at the Four Seasons which was an awesome experience. Came here for brunch and random meals throughout the stay which was great. If you are looking for great service and an elegant ambiance this is the place for you. The food is fresh - we were able to try brunch here which has all the hot foods, yogurt station and amazing dessert/pastries available. Also tried the risotto for a dinner as well as the hazelnut for dessert which was PHENOMENAL! Definitely a nice place to visit when in Sydney!

Iceberg lettuce salad with Japanese sesame dressing and furikake

Solid food in the Four Seasons. Though as an American - I think the food looked and tasted a bit generic like it could have been fine dining in any other city, without too much local personality. It was reliable if not memorable. Wedge salad was good though basic for people who are familiar with Japanese food. (Just iceberg lettuce plus sesame dressing and furikake). Prawns were also good. The kingfish appetizer was ok - fish was fresh but overall dish wasn't memorable given how much waiter hyped it up. Good service. Comfortable ambiance.

I struggled with my rating as the food was tasty but the service was horrible. I'm staying at the four seasons and the service has been phenomenal so I was quite surprised with the lack there of at the restaurant. Breakfast service great, dinner service not so much. The breakfast buffet has a great variety and they open pretty early 6:30, which is great if you have an early morning tour planned. I had reservations at another restaurant but was feeling exhausted and just didn't want to go far, so we decided to eat at the hotel's restaurant Mode. We opted to sit at the bar, which gives me a great view for people watching. The bar tender did not greet us nor was he attentive. I may have given a pass if the bar was full but it wasn't. A waitress took our drink and food order once we had sat for a while, so thank you for that. The bar tender seemed more interested in showing off his overly loud and non impressive shaking of drinks ‍ then tending to guests. The food was great! I had the romaine salad, which is literally just romaine but the dressing was fantastic and made this simple dish fantastic. I also had the crudo, which was delicious as well. The citrus and apple contrast was phenomenal and the portion size was just right. We also had a fish that I can't remember the name of that was paired with mustard greens and a broth poured over. The fish was light with a crispy skin and paired very well with the mustards. Drink wise I'd stick with simple, it will save you a couple of bucks and just a better option in my opinion. I had a Hendricks and tonic $14 and then an expresso martini $27. My spouse had an old fashioned $26, which includes a single shot but could have gotten a double whiskey neat or on a block for the same price. All in all I was thoroughly disappointed with the service but enjoyed the meal. Just to show how inattentive the bartender was, after waiting forever we walked to the hostess to ask for the check. Thank you bartender Hi (that's their name) your service needs some work

Scallop crudo, ponzu, seaweed & finger lime

We were warmly greeted and our waitress gave off good vibes! The scallop crudo was sweet and the finger lime and ponzu added some sour and salt. We were recommended the flounder special by our waitress. The fish was fresh and seasoned perfectly. You could still taste the flavor of the fish without the seasoning overpowering it. It was still early in the day so we ordered mock tails. The yellow drink is the passionate orange. It contains, orange Juice, passion fruit, lemon, and coconut water. The red drink is called Mr. George. It has, guava nectar, pineapple juice, lemons, berries, and hibiscus syrup. Both were delicious but personally I preferred the passionate orange. It was sweet but also sour. Lastly, we order the pavlova. I wasn't expecting much, but when it was served, I was blown away by the presentation. The pavlova was served on a bed of dry ice that smoked out and over our table. It was tasty and a joy to look at!

Honestly not the best food for being a restaurant lounge inside a four seasons. We didn't stay at this four season but of all the ones I've been to this is the most run down looking one. Back to the food review, I order the steak frites and it was not that good. I also thought the presentation wasn't great. I feel like I could have ordered this back home from a cheap dinner somewhere.

    Typical buffet

This is just the typical buffet like you would find it any hotel that offers a buffet breakfast. There's really nothing special. It's a pickle eggs, sausage, breads, meats, and cheeses, orange juice, apple juice, cranberry juice, etc. it's a nice ambience very clean and quiet.

Best breakfast buffet ever. Varieties of food to choose from, great coffee drinks, best mocha! Great service, nice congee and porridge. $45 per person. Worth it.

5 Stars all the way! Girls at Reception we're very welcoming. Heard my dietary restrictions and got me seated at a very good place. Servers were very friendly. Bread was soft and delicious. Ordered a risotto with asparagus and mushroom. The quantity and taste were both outstanding!

Being close to where I used to work, I'd frequent this place quite a bit, and before it was a PJs it was a mates fave city pub so we'd catch up over a few here from time to time. There's a pretty good mix of people in the street-level bar, and PJs have converted it into more of a sports bar so there are plenty of screens for the sports nuts to check out their favourite teams prospects. PJs typically have pretty good fare. In winter they have two absolute cracking dishes. The Guiness Pie with mushy peas, and their signature lamb shanks which is totally unctuous. Why such a modest score? Price kills the place. It's not one of the cheaper places to get a beer as someone incorrectly states in their tips, it's easily one of the most expensive places to get a beer. You're paying over the top prices for domestic tap beer. A cheap beer is $5 for a Coopers Pale Ale, which you can get on the same street about 200m up the road... Also... As much as I enjoy a good pokie section, this one ain't good. And by that I mean the clientelle. It brings in the undesireable types, and sours what is otherwise a sweet pub. The snug, the downstairs den, has a great looking bar, and "snug" seating, but it's kinda pointless down there. It doesn't feel snug, it feels stuffy and claustrophobic - and the bar has never been manned when I've been down there. Now, if they moved the pokies to the snug, and then opened up the entire bar at the street-level to include the room vacated by the pokie section, you'd have something. But why would they do that when they can get by with what they have.

Being in the city, it can get quite busy very quickly and is a decently sized basement multi-storied pub. TV screens are usually are usually playing Fox sports or something similar. I order the Parmy, just to be on the the safe side. I wasn't too game to try the Pie which is supposed to be one of the best (as judged by Irish people I work with) around. The food is carefully prepared and you can tell the produce is quality and they've cooked it properly which some pubs sometimes struggle to do consistently... The chips were the standout side, crisp and crunchy! Definitely will be trying the stew or pie, that is if I'm brave enough to.
