You know those leathery, squeaky, not-quite-as-big-as-you-would-like two-seater couches? Glass TV and coffee tables that are slightly rickety and look a bit naff? Those dining tables that have a glass top and don't look very nice? Basically, Land of Furniture sells all of those things. They have so many three piece sweets. Not one would I personally buy, being of the yucky, squeaky, leathery variety. They all cost about a grand too. The shop is full of the things, so much that it's a almost bursting at the seams with them. They're on the walls even. Maybe I'm just a bit too young and student-y to appreciate a nice leatherish sofa.

When she contacted Housing Units, they refused to take responsibility and told her she had to deal with the manufacturer herself - completely unacceptable since she purchased a fireplace from Housing Units and was paying them for a service. An online engineer for Evonics, gave her the ridiculous instruction of switching the rocker switch on and off 15 times, we thought he was joking. Obviously this didn't work so she had to wait some more. After two months of waiting, an engineer finally came out, only to confirm what we already know, the fireplace was faulty. She was instructed to go and start to order a replacement, which she did, only to be told it would take 6 to 8 weeks for delivery. However, I have speaking housing units today, she discovered that the replacement hadn't even been ordered! Now, she's been told it will take another five weeks, meaning she won't receive a fireplace until May - six months after purchasing it! They have told her she needs to dismantle the fireplace herself. To make matters worse, She does not have central heating, so housing units have left a pensioner without heating throughout the entire winter. My mum has been a loyal customer, and this treatment is disgraceful. I am absolutely shocked at the lack of care and responsibility shown by housing Units. The customer service team have not shown any care or understanding. Having to wait 6 months for a very expensive fireplace to be replaced is shocking. It so sad because she is such a loyal customer. From previous experience IKEA provide a much better service and do not expect their loyal customers to do their work for them.

Today I got scammed £750 from a company that I thought was trustworthy and reliable…read more 12 weeks ago I ordered the dining table pictured. I thought it was a steal of a deal because it was half price at £750 and it was using real oak. After 3 months of patiently waiting for my dining table, they delivered my package in one huge box, they never told me it was going to come in two boxes, this was never communicated by email and the delivery driver didn't say anything either. The delivery driver said to sign a form to confirm delivery and left in a hurry. They never explained that there were meant to be in two boxes. I thought it was going to be in one. Later that evening I opened the box and discovered the legs were missing, I thought "not to worry, I'm sure if I email them they'll send me my dining table legs ASAP". To my surprise and utter dismay, the customer service team emailed me back (picture of the email attached) saying because I signed the form, they cannot send me over the legs or give me a refund. I rang them after pleading to send the legs or provide a refund and they refused. I had two witnesses with me that can state only one box was delivered and not two. Also Housing units can't even send me pictures of proof saying that the two boxes were delivered. They're simply taking the word of mouth over the driver's over mine and refuse to send me my legs or give me a refund. I am completely and utterly heartbroken that I've lost £750, all I have is a plank of wood to show for it. I can say hand on heart this is the most despicable company that I've ever come across. I would say avoid at all costs unless you want to get scammed like I have.

When you walk in, you'll find the bottom floor is devoted to leather Chesterfields, wooden sideboards and oversized paintings. There are loads of little gems hiding beneath them, too: I found a few collectable glass bottles for just £1 each! And once you've had your fill of furniture, you can head upstairs where there's stalls by over 20 traders, selling vintage fabrics, homeware and collectables. There's also the Empire Tea Rooms - a bargain cafe, which sells a huge range of herbal tea, as well as bargain fry ups, jackets potatoes and lots of other lovely stuff. The men who work here are lovely and it's so cheap! Just 60p for a cup of tea! Finally, up in the attic, there's a vintage clothes shop, which has some ace retro frocks at around £10 each. A treasure trove of second hand & vintage items!…read more This is a charity shop which funds the work of the Mustard Tree. They support vulnerable people across Greater Manchester in a variety of ways. This shop is a couple of minutes walk down Oldham Road, just out of the end of the Northern Quarter. They have a huge range of second hand items including furniture, white goods (but not cookers), clothing, bric a brac, electricals and entertainment items like vinyl. Everything is very reasonably priced as you would expect and they get some amazing vintage items in. They offer delivery for either £5 or £10 depending on the distance which is much cheaper than most other local charities. They also accept donations of items and can collect furniture for free on their vans. Call their office to book in a collection of you want to donate or you drop things like clothing off at their site. Check the website for opening times. It's well worth the extra small walk out of the main city centre to have a rummage in this hidden gem!

The place is large and has lots of choice for customers. They are there to help you and not take your money. My mum explained to them what she wanted and they helped her with measurements etc. They really are nice people. So if you are looking for a new piece of furniture or something, then don't follow the rest. Find this shop and all your problems (furniture ones) will be solved. FACT
