The menu is great, the service is great, the food is great, the ambience is great. The Back drop of the Castle oozing Renaissance history is beyond compare. We stayed at the Panicale's for almost two weeks and ate the restaurant several times. If I could give more than 5 stars - I would.

Both of them were a pleasure to communicate with. Since Alberto couldn't be there the day of our event in July, we dealt mainly with Sabrina during planning. What a huge help she was - she responded to us quickly, answered all of our questions, allayed our concerns with everything, volunteered for small tasks, she was just an incredible person and so helpful, kind, and enthusiastic about everything, she went ABOVE AND BEYOND. I would work with her again in a second. We loved her! Together we planned a 4-course special menu for our welcome dinner - this was a collaborative effort, with Sabrina ultimately giving us the final say and offering much flexibility. I printed my own menus using an online vendor but the restaurant can also print the menus for you. Our guests still tell us how the food and wine were excellent, they were thrilled with the quality, taste and presentation of everything. Sabrina also helped us plan a champagne toast/reception after we started the evening with a castle and wine cellar tour. Everybody loved the our - Marta was an excellent tour guide, very engaging and personable, she had people laughing and learning, and we look back on these memories very fondly. The champagne toast was set up on the restaurant's brick patio, overlooking a valley and more mountains. It is stunningly gorgeous, I didn't want the event or the evening to end. We opted to eat dinner indoors only because our wedding dinner was going to be outside the next day. Sosta del Gusto is totally set up to have an outdoor dinner in the above described patio area. They do lots of weddings at their place and for good reason - it is a really really beautiful property. Even though we never got to meet Alberto he was helpful in initial planning and Sabrina was an amazing hostess - she really is a great person. No regrets at all with going to Sosta Del Gusto and Castello del Trebbio for our event, we would visit again no question. Highly recommend both the castle and this restaurant for any visit or event of any type. Very professional staff and beautiful presentation. Thanks again!!

You can tell the pasta is made fresh ... I can still remember the texture ... So amazing. I also saw another table eating something delicious that we wanted to order. They look like meatballs but were actually delicious ricotta spinach balls with a little bit of red sauce. I loved it all and wish we could go back. Slightly challenging because they do not speak much English. But we were able to figure it out. If we return to Tuscany we will eat here again for sure. There's also a small meats/cheese grocery store attached if you want something to go.

Super local, recommended to my family by a local who knows her stuff. The waiters, although they didn't know English very well, worked with us Americans and we had the most amazing meal. We started with a plate of pecorino cheeses and a bowl of rustic and fresh asparagus soup. Wow. Then I had the best pasta dish of my life. A homemade fresh pasta with pesto, potatoes, and green beans. It was beyond amazing. My other companions had an onion souflee and the beautifully prepared house rabbit dish. To go along we had the house chianti. All in all fabulous, local, and well worth the trip.

Like every restaurant in the area…read moreit offers the traditional Tuscan tagliata di chianina (is there a law?) but there's also rabbit stuffed with veal and truffles and a very on-trend Swiss chard, ricotta, and truffled egg raviolone. I started with the latter, which was delicious -- but the powerful flavour of cheese and the egg yolk drowned out the chard. My wife's potato flan was quite nice, but it arrived buried under a heap of truffle shavings that tasted of nothing in particular. My main was a special of roast suckling pig with potatoes and a savoury tuile made with the pork drippings. The tuile was gratuitous -- a chef-y touch that didn't actually taste very nice. The suckling pig was beautifully cooked but the potatoes were weirdly inconsistent; some crisp and others mushy. Il Fornacino is a good restaurant that would be the best restaurant around in most places, but the five-star bar is set pretty high in Tuscany. But the prices were very modest and the wine selection was great. It's a tremendously good value for what it offers.

La Sosta was recommended to us by a foodie friend who went 5 years ago and urged us to get the gnocchi. Everything we had was excellent, well-seasoned, and very reasonably priced. We ordered a bottle of wine and was recommended a Chianti from a vineyard 2 km away (18 euros), perfect. We started with the octopus and antipasti platter, my favorite being the soppresata and fried chickpea 'chips'. Next we had the gnocchi (made from potatos only, no egg or flour) with a light cheese sauce drizzled with honey - the first bite felt like heaven, light fluffy nuggets of delicate deliciousness. Next linguine with clams, wild boar pappardelle, slow roasted beef (for 5 hours), and steak tartare (my favorite, a very light steak tartare, no egg, with red onions, pecorini with truffle, and pistachio!), definitely the best steak tartare I've ever had. Everything was good. For dessert, Sicilian canoli and a mango pudding/panna cotta type dish paired with coffee. Note: The Americano might be the best cup of coffee I've ever had, they use Jolly Caffe (seemingly generic coffee you can buy at supermarkets, local to Florence). I can't recommend La Sosta enough. Take a taxi from Florence to Settignano which will cost you 15-20 euros, it's totally worth it plus you get to see a cute Tuscan town. Perhaps go in the day when you can get a view of the countryside on the terrace. BEST meal in Italy!

Singing birds permeate the surrounding coutryside. I learned later that this restaurant is locally. About a 50 Euro taxi ride out of Firenze, or Bus 7 from Firenze Statione Centrale. This area, including Fiesole is worth a day trip out of Florence. Hhe nearby villa, Villa Gamberais Settignano has a beautiful garden overlooking views of Florence.
