Would DEFINITELY recommend this shop as they have always stuck to their word and have never let me down. The service is excellent and the family that owns the business is the most humblest family I have ever met. My youngest daughter will be starting school soon and I can't wait for her to start as I know that I can always count on the uniform shop and I will definitely be staying with these guys until she's 16. They also gave my daughter a chocolate! :)

She was friendly, knowledgable and up for a chat when I was drowning in a sea of shoes, opinions and general tiredness - nice work! I'm always impressed with the range of shoes on offer at Schuh and it's somewhere I've been buying from for 15 years. Nice work on consistently having a good range of cool trainers, formal shoes and general 'not needed' ones - they're nice looking and I know they're not needed but I still have to have them (my wife thinks I have a serious trainer buying problem... I just think I have a strong interest in them ;-) )

The store is clean and tidy, with everything set out neatly on the shelves, easy to find what you are looking for. There are always great deals on the products, especially Boots No7 brand cosmetics. There are some fab Xmas gift sets in this year!

This all changed on Wednesday 19th February 2014 when I approached the till operated by the assistant Ruth to pay for an item. I told this assistant that I wished to pay for the item using my Boots points and that I also had a discount voucher that I would like to redeem at the same time. She informed me that I was not allowed to use the discount voucher at the same time as redeeming points, I accepting this explanation without any problem. At this point she appeared to assume that I no longer wished to redeem my Boots points and once again she gave me the price in cash. I reiterated that I wanted to pay for the item with my points. At this, she very abruptly replied "you did not make that clear to me" repeating this more than once. I politely pointed out that I believed that I had made my intentions clear from the outset; she repeatedly insisted that I hadn't. Her attitude towards me was such that I felt that I was being admonished in the presence of other customers behind me in the queue. Not wishing to engage further in an argument with her, I paid for my purchase and left. If there was a misunderstanding between us, it certainly was not on my part and I hoped for an apology from her but instead I received a scolding. I believe I am owed an apology from Ruth as I left Boots Chemist very upset and reprimanded. I am a very alert lady in my early seventies but I was left feeling that I no longer had my dignity. At the risk of sounding like a penny pincher this is also another shop that its worth asking if a deal can be done with regards to price, maybe not if you are buying only one thing but if getting a whole new system or two TVs then I can say from personal experience don't just pay the ticket price. The staff are knowledgeable and are not afraid to pass on what they know.

So, it's nice if you can get a pharmacy that makes life a little easier. The Medichem pharmacy of Chapel A is a fair enough place to visit in this instance. They have stacks of handy ailses filled with all the easy to find flu tablets, cough medicines, pain killers, sanitary items, cosmetics and any other supplementaries that you might need in support of that prescription - or even without the prescription! It's situated just a little further down from the main area of Chapel A, so it's along a reasonably busy road, but you can always park in the Lidl opposite in a pinch. Staff seem helpful and such, so all in all, not a bad place to go if you're on the underside of the weather!

As well as the a range of vitamins and supplements they stock the Nelsons homeopathic range which I'm not sure you can even find in most Boots stores. There is a 99p section with some good bargains, as well as everything else you would expect in a chemist - shampoo, soap, plasters, make up, sanitary towels, cold/flu remedies, I could go on...oh and a photo booth. Very useful if you're getting a passport or driving license.

The shop is half way down ivegate which is quite a steep hill which does get very slippy when wet weather so be careful - its always best to get to from the bottom rather than the top of the hill. There is no disabled access but apart from the hill there are no obstacles and no steps into the shop and the shop itself is pretty easy to manouvre about in. The goods in the shop vary from the usual clothes and accessories, cds, videos and dvds to books, toys and games and are all checked to ensure they are good quality before they are put out for sale. While this shop isnt the cheapest of charity shops it is a good place to buy things from but be prepared to spend a while rummaging as there isnt much order to the chaos. The staff are nice and polite and eager to please.
