I was fortunately forewarned by the gal who referred me to Amber that she was a bit of a "flake" (her words, not mine) so I guess my experience was par for the course. I called Amber and left a message inquiring about her services, packages, and products (not my first-time spray tanning). Amber retuned my call and I scheduled an appointment. On my way to see her, I called to see what forms of payment she accepts. She did not mention this when we initially spoke. I don't carry cash or a checkbook. Credit cards only for everything for tax purposes. She said she didn't accept credit cards. I told her that I was on my way to see her and not near a bank or my home and that I was not able to obtain cash or a check. I mentioned that it would have been helpful if she had mentioned the types of payments she accepts when communicating with new clients. We subsequently rescheduled appointment #1. When I arrived, Amber was nowhere in sight and her door was locked. She showed up fifteen minutes later with no communication to let me know she was running late and no apology. Unprofessional at best. I let it go and followed her to her spray tan room. I mentioned that I had a 12-year-old daughter and she asked me if I was that "crazy lady" who had a 12-year-old daughter that she had had some type of encounter with that she told some of her clients about. I was insulted and appalled at her lack of professionalism and assured her that I was not that "crazy lady". I moved past her remark and told her that because I have yellow skin under tones, I have a history of turning orange after spray tans. Amber assured me that I would not turn orange because she uses "organic" spray tan chemicals which I had never had applied. Amber sprayed me with one coat of product and her process took less than five minutes. Going off what Amber told me guaranteeing me that I would not turn orange, I booked a four-tan package deal for $100.00, assuming each tan was $25.00, as she did not tell me differently. I waited two days after my first tan to take a cool shower. I was astonished at how much of the tan went right down the drain. The next day I turned orange and the tops of my hands and tops of my feet were white. I scheduled tan #2 with Amber and once again when I arrived, she was nowhere in sight and her door locked. Ten minutes later she showed up and said that she had to go to Walgreens with no communication or apology. Now I was irritated because I have a very tight work/parenting schedule, but once again I let it go. I told Amber that the first tan had me orange within three days and that my hands and feet tops were white. She said that she would apply more product to these areas during the tan #2 and that I shouldn't have that problem again. Three days later I once again turned orange and the tops of my feet and hands were white and streaky. I contacted Amber via text and told her that I was not happy with her services and explained why and requested a $50.00 refund. She told me that she didn't give refunds, but in my case would refund me $30.00. I rejected her offer and requested that she mail me a check in the amount of $50.00. She told me that the tans were not $25.00 each because I only used two tans and that they were $35.00 each, even though I paid her $100 up front. I told her at this point that I would be contacting my attorney. I contacted my family's law firm to inquire about filing a civil lawsuit to recoup the $50.00. For me at this juncture, it was more about the principle of the situation and not the money. I communicated this to Amber and she stated that she was going to contact her attorney. I requested her attorney's contact information to pass along to my attorney and she refused disclosure of this information. I waited to hear back from Amber, heard nothing, and texted her again. In a genuine effort to save Amber attorney's fees (none for me), and at the suggestion of my attorney to utilize social media platforms to express my dissatisfaction in Amber's services to recoup my $50.00 in principle, I texted Amber and stated that I would agree to her $30.00 refund and requested that she mail the refund to the address I provided to her. She demanded that I travel to her spray tan room to pick up the check, which I declined on the advice of my attorney to not set foot in her spray tan room and in me not trusting her. Amber stated via text message that she would mail the $30.00 check (twice via text) and that she never wanted to hear from me again. No problem there. No $30.00 check ever arrived. I texted Amber one last time asking her what date the check was mailed and she replied that she sent the check and that I was harassing her and then threated me with a restraining order. Humorous at best. No refund check ever received. read more

I didn't have a great experience at Mobile Glow. Amber is very sweet and was accommodating to my schedule, however just before my appointment she told me that the tan was going to be about $10 more than what is listed on her website. I asked her about this and response was "Sorry, website needs to be updated". I think you should honor the price on your website until it is updated or let clients know when scheduling that there has been a price change. Not how I would do business. More importantly than the $10 is the spray tan was not great. It looks pretty orange and I am embarrassed to go out of the house looking like this. I asked for the lightest shade and it appears she only has one shade. Not everyone's skin tone looks good with the same color spray tan. I wish I would of done more research. (Currently soaking in a bath of baking soda to try and lighten the color :/ ) read more
